Heavy Drop Phony

I’m sure you remember William Clark, the plus-sized phony captain who is apparently running around Alaska telling his phony tales. Fairbanks PD has finally issued a warrant for his arrest on gun charges;

Fairbanks police were called to the North Star Council on Aging Monday afternoon after Clark reportedly showed a pistol to the director of the facility, Julie McCumby, and claimed to be a military police officer.

McCumby reportedly told police she believed Clark was mentally ill or an escapee from jail and that seniors were being moved out of the building and away from him, according to charging documents.

When Fairbanks police officer Joshua Lambert contacted him, Clark, a heavyset man with a blond crewcut, was smoking a cigarette while talking on his cell phone.

He had an empty handgun holster on his belt, and a loaded 9mm pistol was found in Clark’s car. The gun was placed in the trunk for the safety of the officers present but not confiscated.

After he was issued a citation for trespassing, Clark was released…it was after his release, FPD discovered he had warrants in five states.

Clark was apprehended late yesterday;

Shortly after the first story about Clark ran in Friday’s News-Miner, a hunter who believed he talked with Clark on Tuesday notified Fairbanks police.

The hunter met a man in military fatigues in the Wrangell Mountains who offered to help him go hunting.

“It just struck him as bizarre,” FPD Sgt. Eric Jewkes.

The man in fatigues mentioned going to Deadhorse, and North Slope Borough police found Clark at the Prudhoe Bay Hotel on Friday afternoon. He was taken into custody without incident.

He was just released from prison in recent months. it seems to me that after three trips to prison for the same charge, the fourth arrest ought to give them reason to weld the door shut this time.

I can’t believe it took this long to arrest Clark, I mean you can see him from space.

They realized he had warrants in five states? Oops, Jethro, My bad.
Don’t they have computers in AK?

Ben

Pregnancy ACU’s. That’s what he’s wearing. No doubt in my mind.

I wonder how long he’s been getting away with it.

Old Trooper

You may be able to see him from space, but in Alaska, he was probably mistaken for a pregnant moose.

Glad this dil-hole was finally nabbed.

AW1 Tim

What everyone else says.

Pregnancy ACUs with an SF combat patch, unfrickin’ believable… sloppy police work in AK, though.

Checking NCIC is not something FPD normally does? I would have to say they have a somewhat cavalier attitude about officer and citizen safety. Hell, everyone I ever checked was run through NCIC, and if the system was down, the info was still sent, and the check came back as soon as the computers were warmed up again, and the hamsters started running in the wheels.
