Stolen Valor GA County commissioner resigns
Earlier this month, I mentioned Cherokee County Commissioner Derek Good who thought he’d inflate his lifestory by becoming a Ranger and a college graduate. Just A Grunt tells us that he finally resigned;
[Good’s letter of resignation]said simply that he did not want the controversy to distract the county from its business and that he was resigning immediately.
During his campaign for office, Good said he had been an Army Ranger and had a degree from the University of Maryland. He did serve in the Army, but not as a Ranger. He did not earn a college degree. A group of residents have been seeking his resignation, demanding it in emails, through petitions and at a previous county meeting.
Good had been a partarooper in the 82d Airborne Division, but apparently that wasn’t good enough for him.

Honestly I expected more fall out locally over this considering Cherokee is one of the more scarlet-red metro-Atlanta counties.
All it will take is one tanked-up Bubba and a tire-iron in the parking lot of a bar, and he’ll “fall-out,” alright.
Cherokee is also one of the “border” counties at the edge of the metro. If this guy was in Cobb, Dekalb, or Gwinnett it would be all over the place. Besides, the AJC is busy talking about Glenn Richardson’s latest suicide attempt.
The only reason this pathetic liar resigned is because he discovered the POW Network had requested his military records and would be posting them to his page on the Phonies & Wannabe’s on their website. He knew then that he would be exposed for lying again. When he came clean about not being an Army Ranger –he continued to lie – he stated that he was attached to a Ranger Unit in the invasion of Panama. His records are now posted and they show that he never left the country, he never served in Panama.
