Dodge commercial
I guess this has been around for a month or so, but today is the first time I’ve seen it. Good job, Dodge.

Yep!!! We saw that when we were in Gettysburg- how appropriate is that????
This commercial, a new Sam Adams one, and others are featuring prominent images from our founding fathers. What’s with the sudden sense of Patriotism coming from corporate America? Is there money to be made from a certain patriotic portion of the population?
Rhetorical, of course.
Skepticism aside, I dig it, too.
It was playing all during the World Cup. Needless to say, it got a lot of cheers during the US matches.
My criticism; the Challenger is mostly built in Canada…that and the Italians now own most of Chrysler…and they’re phasing out the bigger V8’s over the next few model years in favor of electric powered shitboxes…and they’re turning the Magnum into yet another mom-mobile…but other than that…
The Magnum is dog ugly anyway- fast, but ugly. If I wanted a fast Mom car, I’d look into the new Cadillac CTS. Just wow.
Something creepy about the commercial.
But the car? I’d give my left nut. I don’t know a single person whose lifestyle fits a Dodge Challenger, but everytime I see one, I just think to myself, “Damn, wouldn’t it be cool?”
The 70’s version of the Challenger was an American work of art. Whichever genius at Chrysler came up with the idea of bringing back the classics deserves a beer.
Sorry, I’ll never buy another new Chrysler or GM product. The patriotic thing to do would have been not to take the taxpayers money.
BILL R – With you, bro; the only American made auto nowadays, made by the only American company that told Obama to stuff his effin’ mob money, is Ford. When I got rid of my las auto, a Jeep, I got a Ford and when talking with the dealer, he said that over half of his new car customers said they bought Fords for the same reason that I did… they didn’t want to put more money in the commie bastard’s account.
I’ve owned five new Chevys since 1991 – there are two new ones in the driveway right now. My Silverado is 80% US parts and was assembled in Indiana according to the sticker. I wouldn’t buy a Ford on a bet and I certainly wouldn’t lay out good US dollars for some rice-burning shitbox.
I don’t blame GM for taking the money from the Feds. If I were a businessman responsible for thousands of Americans getting a pay check, even if I didn’t need the money, I’d take it if I knew I could pay it back. Business is business, after all.
I do, however, blame the feds for offering money which wasn’t theirs to offer.
I gave up brand loyalty years ago. I figure that if it’s reliable, and I like the way it looks and drives, who gives a flying shit what little doo-dad is on the hood. We have Japanese and German makes being assembled in Tennessee, Alabama and South Carolina, likewise we have so-called American makes being slapped together in Mexico and Canada. Screw it. There’s no way to avoid this crap anymore. I’ll take a Challenger SRT8 or a new Camaro SS or the 2011 Mustang GT…makes no difference to me, they all look and sound like they’re supposed to.

Jonn…..I don’t blame you for your feelings, but do have to say that GM only took the bailout money because they were dying due to the horrible contracts they signed over the years with the UAW. Ford didn’t sign similar contracts, so they were able to survive. My tax dollars should NEVER go to a private business because they made poor decisions. Tax incentives are one thing, but handouts are WRONG. I will never buy a GM or Chrysler product because they brought the failure on themselves, but begged not to pay the consequences for their actions.
That and your comments about taking the money ‘just because its there’ is kinda dumb. It’s their job (owners and management) to run the business in a responsible manner to be able to adequately take care of it’s employees and shareholders, which it didn’t do. Should it go out and seek private lenders and backers to keep afloat, so be it. NOT TAX DOLLARS.
But that’s just MHO, for what it’s worth.

I agree with you. We’ve owned both domestic and foreign brand cars, and I’m fortunate to say that we’ve been happy with all of them. That’s Ford, Chrysler, Chevy, and Toyota, so far!
