Shock imagery as opposed to any real substance… no surprises here.

NHSparky

As opposed to what you like, Paul–like Kos, DU, and Huffpo? Get a grip.

Paul

Wow Sparky, I don’t know if I should be offended, but I assume Huffpo is Huffington Post. I’m not sure about the rest though. Thanks for trying to use shock statements instead of any real substance though…

NHSparky

Yes, a picture of The Declaration of Independence being signed–what a shocking image.

Of course, if you’re referring to your liberal buddy shitting on the flag in one of those–hey, he’s all yours.

Denial–you’re not doing it very well, trollboy.

Paul

lol Sparky, projecting much?

There are plenty of people who desecrate the flag who aren’t American anti-war activists – and the fast majority of American anti-war activists do not support flag desecration, only the crazy socialist ones (e.g. Matthis).

The fact that the blog uses that image to describe antiwar protestors only shows that shock imagery is chosen to convey a point instead of trying to appeal to logic.

NHSparky

Oh really, Paul? Please, give us examples of such. The left merely provides us with the most egregious examples. Personally, had I witnessed something like that, he would have been getting a spoon and eating it, along with those who cheered him on.

Paul

So lazy, I’ll save you the time of googling: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_desecration#United_States

Saying all antiwar protesters desecrate the flag is like saying all war supporters are racists.

NHSparky

Hmmmm…did I say all antiwar protesters desecrate the flag? Gee, NOW who’s projecting and failing to read what others have written? However, I’d venture to guess you’ll find a lot more of that shit going on wherever the leftards gather versus conservatives.

Paul

Wow you’re dense… I never accused you of saying that either.

For one, just because I’m not a neo-conservative doesn’t mean I’m not conservative.

For two, I’d venture to guess there are more Klan rallies wherever conservatives gather than “leftards.” It’s really a stupid point.

NHSparky

I’d guess you’re wrong on both points, Paultard.

TSO

Paul, as part of my job I track flag desecrations, and I would be happy to share my list with you. I think you’ll find the vast majority were for anti-war functions. Bear in mind the seminal case on it (TExas v. Johnson) the guy even said “America, the red, white, and blue, we spit on you, you stand for plunder, you will go under,” and, “Reagan, Mondale, which will it be? Either one means World War III.” Meaning at least a part of his abhorance was on semi-military grounds.

Paul

TSO: I understand that, especially more recently the vast majority that occur in America are likely due to anti-war sentiment.

People who sometimes like to burn American flags: anarchists, communists, immigrants angry with our immigration policy, foreigners who don’t like America, etc.

Bear in mind, many of those groups may not like America’s current foreign policy, but I would not describe them as the majority of those who are against the war. (Bear in mind that millions of Americans oppose this war. Millions of Americans don’t desecrate the flag – only a few whack-jobs.)

On the other hand, you’ll find that the vast majority of white racists didn’t vote Democrat in the last election.

There really is no comparison that can be made. When people do these things, they should be identified as the whack-jobs that they are, and if groups (such as the IVAW) condone that behavior, then they should be identified as such. I wouldn’t even say groups like the IVAW are even representative of most anti-war Iraq vets. The fact that they use their name is a horrible misnomer.

COB6

Paul, where exactly will I find that the “vast majority of white racists” voted against the Democrats in 2008?

“Fully 96 percent of black voters supported Obama and constituted 13 percent of the electorate” this is from:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1108/15297.html

And 54% of young white voters supprted Obama.

Was racism an issue? Damn right but not the feel good kind you are thinking.

I imagine you and your ilk voted for him to end all wars. He hasn’t, in fact he has doubled down but it doesn’t matter you will vote for him again because it feels good.

Jimmy Carter is starting to look good compared to this clown.

Paul

COB6: Um, I didn’t vote for Obama – he’s a war monger and a liar. I don’t understand why some people would think that because I’m anti-war I would like a war monger who used sympathy for the troops as a failed campaign promise.

However, I challenge you to find me a single white racist who did vote for Obama. ^_^ Regardless, I think you completely missed the point. Maybe I should spell it out for you: Implying that all anti-war activists like burning flags is as bad as (MSNBC and others) framing all conservatives as racists.

It’s done for shock value and has no real merit.

ROS

I challenge you, Paul, to find for me less than 1,000 racists of color who did NOT vote for Obama.

As for his being a warmonger, I suggest you look into his laughable “pay raise” for active duty military, along with his cuts across the board to BAH, etc.

When you’ve educated yourself on those items, come back and tell me exactly how a man who so obviously hates the military and what she does is a war monger.

Flaming liberal imbecile. But I repeat myself.

Paul

Um ROS, hating the military and cutting funding doesn’t make him any less of a war monger.

I, for example, love the military and hate war. Something about soldiers needlessly dying doesn’t sit well with me. One would think that someone who hated the military wouldn’t care about soldiers dying.

Clinton wasn’t a friend of military spending, but did enjoy engaging us in conflicts overseas. Maybe that’s why my old platoon sergeant had six bullets in Kosovo.

NHSparky

So Paul, who exactly DID you vote for in 2008? Wait, no–let me guess–hangs around with “troofers” and racists, sounds like a squeaky little mouse when he talks/whines, hypocrite when it comes to taxes and spending, thinks he’s relevant outside the 14th District of Texas…am I getting warm?

#1 Paul:
“Shock imagery as opposed to any real substance…”
Let’s talk about shock imagery and real substance. How about a twenty-something soldier at a VA hospital that passed my husband and I last week, with two artifical limbs. THAT is shock imagery and real substance. THAT is what the site BIG PEACE is about. Real soldiers and what really happens to them, both on and off the battlefield. You bet it’s shocking, and very real.
#16 Paul:
“War monger.” If President Obama were truly the warmonger you claim he is, YOU would be in uniform by now, either with or without your permission.
“Soldiers needlessly dying.” If you have a better solution to stop the terrorists that attacked our country on 9/11… get busy!

Anonymous

Paul…Didn’t Sen. Robert Byrd vote for Obama?…just sayin…that is at least one racist who endorsed and voted for him…

ROS

Really, Paul, is that all you have?

If His Highness were indeed a warmonger, he’d be cutting the funding for those excessive programs he shoves down our throats and throwing it all into the defense budget.

Allow me to introduce you to my friend Mr. Logic.
