Sorry, no sympathy from me

| May 21, 2010

Huffington Post and the SPLC have taken up the cause of Jessica Colotl, an illegal immigrant in Georgia who was discovered to be in this country contrary to our immigration laws.

Colotl’s family came undocumented to America from Mexico when she was 11. After she was arrested in late March for driving without a license, the sheriff’s office turned her over to immigration officials and put her in an Alabama detention center. Her ordeal was only just beginning.

Ordeal? Folks who willingly break laws don’t suffer “ordeals” – they suffer the consequences of their actions. ICE cut her a break and let her out of being deported for a year so she could finish her college studies. WTH?

The Cobb County sheriff was having nothing of this, though. He arrested her again, but this time for lying to the arresting officers in the first incident. SPLC says;

“We are very concerned that the sheriff’s office brought this trumped-up charge to retaliate against Jessica for speaking out about her case,” said SPLC Legal Director Mary Bauer. “Rather than abide by the decision of federal immigration officials, they’ve decided to take matters into their own hands. It’s an outrageous example of how the 287(g) program is being misused by local authorities to pursue undocumented immigrants who represent no criminal threat.”

Yeah, um, if she hadn’t broken three laws (by my count) they’d have nothing on her, Mary. Driving without a license, lying to the police, not to mention she shouldn’t be here any-damn-way. Since she’s college age, she could have chosen to return and rectify the dilemma that her parents created for her. I’m sure they have colleges in Mexico, too. I wonder if the US taxpayers are footing her tuition bill.

And it’s all coming at a time when I’m scrapping together $800 for my wife’s green card renewal. My heart pumps purple piss for Jessica.

Thanks to TSO for the links.

When the Feds fail to do their part, it is incumbent upon the States to do it. if they fail, then the people themselves must take matters into their own hands to deal with this issue.

I would offer that this administration, like the previous, is deaf to the wishes of the citizens it purports to represent. They should get their act together and pay attention. They should open up their history books and see what happened the last time a leader failed to listen to “WE the People”. King George didn’t fare too well that time.

This has been all over the local news here…including the breathless news media, paragons of truth in reporting that they are, canvassing the campus of Kennesaw State University for reactions to this chicka’s situation. The concept that “she’s not a criminal” is the most laughable aspect of this story…I mean, yeah, as long as you don’t count driving without a license, driving without insurance and lying to the cops about where your residence is, I suppose she’s a shining example of an upstanding undocumented citizen. And to answer your question about the tuition part, some dipshit administrator for the school has chimed in saying “We charge students the non-resident fees if they can’t validate residence.” Yeah…so what does that take? Basically a freakin’ utility bill…not any sort of valid state-issued credentials….you know…like a DRIVER’S LICENSE.

Oh, and to add to this farcical bullshit, the local race pimps are attacking Sheriff Warren for enforcing the law.

“After she was arrested in late March . . . Her ordeal was only just beginning.”

Her “ordeal” was self-created when she KNOWINGLY decided to VIOLATE THIS NATION’S IMMIGRATION LAWS.

It blows me away the way illegal immigrants are portrayed as though they were just innocently strolling along in life and — BAM! –the Illegal Immigration Fairy just popped out and transformed them into criminals with a wave of her magic wand.

They made themselves criminals, and I don’t owe them squat for their troubles.

The $64,000 question that has not been asked in all of the breathless coverage of this illegal immigrant is where are her parents? Did they just abandon her in this country and go home or are they also still here? If they did abandon her, how old was she?

As far as Miss Colotl goes I suggest she look up sympathy in the dictionary. She will find it right between shot and syphilis.

Well, let’s round up the whole lot of them and deport them… and then bill her for the out of state tuition she obviously owes.

Guys, as an 11-year-old, she was not responsible for coming into the country illegally. Our current laws do not count any illegal time in the country prior to 18 years old as “illegal.”
Once she turned 18, it’s another story and she should have worked on rectifying the issue.
Again, where were her parents when April 30, 2001 semi-amnesty was in effect?? It was created to help those who came under the wire to legalize if they had a valid employer or family sponsor.
If her parents came to the country AFTER April 30, 2001 semi-amnesty, they are the walking proof that any amnesty/semi-amnesty won’t work to stem the flood of illegals – they came after because they were sure that another one would be in the works soon.

Olga, you hit it the nail on the head here:

“Once she turned 18, it’s another story and she should have worked on rectifying the issue.”

She’s now 21. She’s an adult. It says she hopes to become a lawyer. Well, good. Her assignment should be to read the Immigration Laws.

It also says she became a student at Kennesaw State University. Her second assignment should be find out which law-abiding citizen or legal immigrant she displaced when she was accepted at that fine, taxpayer-funded university?

She was receiving in-state tuition until the university found out that she is here illegally, so in a way she was getting taxpayer subsidized tuition. At a time when Georgia universities are having to slash enrollments to make budget, she is taking a seat away from legal residents of this state.

The reason why I have no sympathy for her is that she obtained a Mexican passport as an adult. That means she wasn’t just ferried here as a child unwittingly by her parents. She went back to Mexico as an adult, got a Mexican passport, then came back to the United States to live here illegally. She is culpable in every sense.

Maybe we should back up a little bit. She didn’t suddenly become an illegal immigrant at the age of 18 or 19 when she went to college. No, if she was brought to the US illegally when she was 11 and then was admitted to Kennesaw State University, then she had to have some sort of documents just to be admitted to the college. Like high school transcripts, meaning she had to have graduated from an American high school, which was probably a government-funded public school.. I don’t know all the facts of this particular case, however, I do know — and I’m not going to say how I know – but IT IS THE PRACTICE for colleges to admit undocumented aliens IF they graduated from an American high school. Yes, it is. But that is not the worst of it. The worst of it is far worse — and they are people who are considered legals, and not merely legal, but full-fledged American citizens. Now I’m not calling anybody a terrorist, but I’m sure we all know that ICE has been keeping out males coming from certain Middle Eastern countries ever since 9/11. Of course, they are streaming pretty steadily through the back door, which I would think would be of far greater concern than a poor Mexican girl who’s been here since she was a child. But I digress. What I want to tell you about – and again, I’m not calling anybody a terrorist – but a case of LEGAL American citizens who are young Islamic men who barely speak English and had never set foot in the United States until they were adults, who can walk straight into the United States with NO ONE questioning it. Here’s how it works. Their father, also an Islamic man from the Middle East, came to the United States when he was a young man, went to an American college, stayed here long enough to somehow become an American citizen, goes back to his Islamic country of origin in the Middle East, sets up his practice, gets married, has children,… Read more »

Sorry for the Hijack.

Smorgasbord

You reminded me of the illegal female college student that had a translator paid for her by us all the way through college. She never did learn to speak English. I wonder if she ever got a job that fit her college education, or did she just go back to Mexico and use her free education there?

Hey Al, yeah, I’m up the road a ways in Marietta. I’m only a “Sons Of The Legion” member, so maybe I’ll buy YOU the beer or meet at J.D’s Barbeque joint on Bell’s Ferry for a rack of ribs! LOL! We’ll be in touch!

Smorg, she may have gotten a job with the Michigan Dept of Human Services as an “outreach coordinator” for immigrant rights, or maybe the UM representative to Dearbornistan. After all, Gov Granmole is big on outreach to the “troubled constituents” in our state, and spends a hell of lot of our money on illegals and “refugees”.
