| May 6, 2010

I’ve been in DC all day and the first news I saw when I got home was PO Matt McCabe’s acquittal. So this one’s for you, Matt.

Yup…. as soon as I heard the news, I poured a large volume of whiskey over some ice and settled in to celebrate.

Frankly Opinionated

HOOAH!!!!!!!!!!

“Never Forget the Ft. Hood Texas 14, 11/05/09”

Most excellent news.

Can’t believe the Navy went through with this shit.

To your health gentlemen.

Hooah.

Out-f*cking-standing!

Debra

Absolutely awesome news. 🙂

JonP

Very cool. So when is the dimwitted Admiral that pushed the pc bullshit going to resign?

Susan

JonP – that would be a dimwitted General. Army is in charge of SOCOM.

Fred

Was there any purpose to putting the SEALs? That is any purpose save appeasing the Far Left and the Bad Guys.

OldSoldier54

Yes, very cool, indeed.

It may be that, because I am so far away from those involved, particularly the officers who pressed charges in the first place, I don’t see any negative consequences, or it may be that there just aren’t any. If so, I think there should be.

Ray

Bravo Zulu!

About time the Navy withdrew it’s collective head from it’s fourth point of contact.

JonP

Absolutely correct, Susan. 🙂

HOOAH! The best news I’ve heard all week, and possibly the best news I’ll hear all weekend.

OldTrooper

As with anything else, Susan and JonP; it wouldn’t matter if it were Navy or Army in charge of SOCOM, this would have still happened. You forget that they all fall under the DoD and with that, you get PC crappola, same as in the Ft. Hood case. Some sniveling little bastard decided that they were going to attempt to make the military look bad and ran the story, with the military getting involved in a running PC gunfight and in order to placate certain elements, decided to go up the pyramid and toss these SEALS onto the sacrificial table in hopes of satifying the PC gods.

What they didn’t count on was the fact that SEALS aren’t interested in just rolling over and they fought back against the PC bullshit. I could add more to this but I have to get going.

Jerry920

All I can say is that justice prevailed. Never should have gotten that far.

I have a bottle of Scotch I have been saving for a special occasion. It gets opened toaday.

I’m glad he was acquitted, but sad to say, I think the careers of all three of these SEALs have been irreparably damaged in this PC-military we have. Wherever they go, their chain-of-command will know them as, “those guys who got away with punching terrorist” bullshit.

I hope I’m wrong, but I’ve seen similar circumstances wreck careers based on less.

I think what origionally happened is that some dumbass thought it would be a good idea to give them nonjudicial punishment, which may not have been much more than a slap on the wrist. The same dumbass was probably surprised when they demanded a court martial.

I wonder if Demartino will be the captian of the USS John Murtha?

NHSparky

General Demartino was the convening authority, not necessarily the one who pushed for NJP in the first place. The SEAL’s rightfully rejected NJP (Captain’s or Admiral’s Mast) for court-martial, as is their right to do. But what pisses me off is that still out there, somewhere, nameless and faceless, is the chickenshit sonofabitch who pushed the issue in the first place.

justplainjason

Demartino was the Third Class that testified against the SEALs. It was more of a Blue Falcon joke than anything.

NHSparky

Doh! I stand corrected. But by the same token, I don’t think PO Demartino went into this with the mindset of, “Hey, I’m gonna fuck these guys.” More likely than not, he saw something that he wasn’t sure if it was right or not, and did in fact “do the right thing” by reporting it to his chain or at least asking. It’s the higher-ups who I have the problem with, who made a mole hill into a mountain.

Jacobite

Breaking out the Glenfiddich Solera. Here’s to justice!

“Wherever they go, their chain-of-command will know them as, “those guys who got away with punching terrorist” bullshit.”

Any combat branch officer who has a problem with that should turn in his brass.

NHSparky

Agreed–but a lot of the guys who sit on CPO boards, etc., aren’t combat arms, per se.
