What’s the cheapest fighter? And Ms. Mace

| November 6, 2025

In the world of fighters, a million bucks is chump change. We all know the F-22 aand F-35 have eye-watering high prices – all in with support the F-22 cost around $350,000,000 each Compared with a list of $143,000,000 – still the most expensive) with the F-35 coming in around $109,000,000. Actually, the F-35 is out-priced  by the Euro Rafale and Typhoon fighters and the Chinese J-20. Aero Times.

But enough about the high end of the spectrum – here’s a candidate for the lowest ever price. How’s about the venerable F-16? Well, it takes the title – at  a bit under $0.06 each.

The Netherlands sold a batch of F-16 fighters to Romania for just over $1, formally giving its fellow NATO ally ownership of the jets that it has been using to train Ukrainian pilots. Insider

This actually undercuts the previous low-ball special when Poland acquired some MiG-29s for one Euro each.

All of the planes involved are for Ukraine, by the way – the F-16s are being used to train Ukrainian pilots.

Still….think I have a spare twenty in my wallet. I’m just not sure where to park my new fleet of 313 planes.

And we read a bit about Nancy Mace, the potty-mouthed Republican South Carolina representative. You may recall, she managed to get sideways with the security staff at Charleston International Airport  and was caught on video turning the air blue at them. One article saying her staff told the airport she would arrive at a specific airport entrance at 6 in a white BMW. She later was found on the airport CCTV to have shown up at a different entrance in a dark-colored car almost an hour later – and it’s THEIR fault.

Throughout hundreds of social media posts, Mace has claimed the report is politically motivated, accused the South Carolina attorney general of conspiring to create the report, and blamed “fake news” for peddling misinformation about it.

“Fake News” – where have we talked about THAT phrase lately? Hmmm. But Ms. Nancy is yelling it at high volume – and says she’s suing.

Mace said she plans to seek damages for defamation and reputational harm in addition to public correction for the false report.

Among those she plans to name in the lawsuit are the American Airlines Gate Agent; Elliott Summey, the CEO of Charleston International Airport; Austin Bruner, the chief legal officer for the Charleston airport; Chris Drummond; Alan Wilson, the South Carolina attorney general; Whitney Michael, the chief counsel to Wilson; Spencer Pryor, the deputy executive airport director at the Charleston airport; and Officers Yangco, Reed and Southers.  The Independent

Well, she is letting the custodial staff slide… although it seems she is threatening most of the other staff. Oh, did I mention she felt “endangered”?

The Independent says she has posed or reported about this 110 times since it happened. She did make a strategic error, though, asking if the staff would have treated  a Senator like that? Scott was not supportive:

“For reasons that are unclear, Rep. Nancy Mace invoked my name during and in the aftermath of her situation at the Charleston International Airport,” Scott wrote in a Facebook post Tuesday, going on to say that every interaction he has had at the airport “without exception – has been positive.”

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham echoed Scott’s statements, praising police officers and TSA agents at the airport: “The men and women I have encountered – from security to airport leadership – are professional and diligent in the performance of their duties and I am honored to represent them in the U.S. Senate.”The Independent II

Nancy, Nancy… drop the suit and shut up.

One phrase, 2 words… term limits. Seems she has gotten a god complex, and she, along with most everybody in DC, have forgotten where they came from and who put them there.

A simple “im running late, and the vehicle has been changed to this” would have helped.

FuzeVT

Well, she has a nice rack going for her.

Odie

The face attached to that rack doesn’t look happy in the above photo.

Poor gal is having a bad, bad hair day. Y’all be nice…

Nancy is the new Karen…

Are you sure she is a repub?? Sounds more like a woke dem to me.

USAF E-5

Why would she call it “fake news?” Well according to the report the two interactions/statements were 1) “Fucking incompetents” and 2) “Tim Scott would never be treated this way” and the 3rd) “This is no way to treat a US Representative.” In fairness to Rep Mace (btw not one of my favorite people, but I have a soft spot for South Carolinians,) The 1st comment was made as the officers approached, not to them…according to their statement. But it’s been reported on better than 41 times. As for Sen Tim Scott, who is one of my favorite peopled, his statement was, “For those who want to invoke my name, please have the courtesy to note my actions and how I treat police officers, TSA agents, and fellow travelers with the respect they deserve”. Easy to see why he’s one of my favorite. SC folks are polite to a fault, generally. anyhow 6 of one

#3) The way I think of most US Representatives, she’s lucky it was their job to treat her nice.
If it were me, I’d have turned the air just as blue right back at her, and with glee.
Military expression I learned long ago from an officer, “Arguing with an Infantry is like mud wrestling with a pig. You both get dirty, but the pig loves it.”

How much for a slightly used F-86 in “unfired” condition?

AZRobert

Would like to Super Saber it with fries…

Choose option “H” and we’ll toss in four 20mm cannons.

Tim Scott is one of the most decent GOP senators out there. He treats everyone with respect, no matter who they are. That is how you get treated with respect, not just by being a senior and high ranking Senator.

Nancy Mace? In her own words:

“Last Thursday morning, I absolutely, 100% confronted the airport employees who put my safety at risk. Did I drop an F-bomb? I hope I did. Did I call them incompetent? If I didn’t, they absolutely earned it.” Mace claimed that she “personally had more than two dozen security breaches” at the airport.

These two dozen security breaches? When did she bring them up?

Not until she was in trouble?

That removes the legitimacy of the complaint and/or shows a lack of concern for her fellow travelers. That she would go off on them when they are already working for free is very bad behavior.

MustangCryppie

This isn’t the first time that Mace has gone off the deep end in public. To put it delicately, she has issues that drive her to act the way she does.

MustangCryppie

Capitol Assault Claim (December 2024): Mace accused a man of physically accosting her at the U.S. Capitol. The charge was later dropped by prosecutors, leading to public disputes over the validity of her claims. Mace maintained her stance, stating that the incident sent a negative message about violence against women.

E.Conboy,

According to Murphy’s Law, N M reached the level of her competence when she was about two years old, screaming in her playpen while throwing her toys out. She hasn’t improved with age.

E.Conboy,

She may have had a hangover, or headache?

Prior Service (Ret)

Rep Mace: “you guys suck!!!!”

Security, et al. “You told us you’d be HERE, at THIS TIME, in THIS color car. You weren’t. Instead, you were THERE, at THAT time, in THAT color car. Sorry about the mi..”

Rep Mace: “Do you know who I AM?!?!?”

Skivvy Stacker

“You don’t know who you are? Wait right here while I go find out for you, and I’ll let you know when I get back…”

E.Conboy,

Let’s just get your little fingerprints into this computer and you sit down over there while they are run through Interpol. We’ll help you learn who you are.

This is not the first episode of “crazy” from Nancy.

jeff LPH 3 63-66

If she really got out of hand, she could have been maced..

Bob

She should really go back to North Carolina & cry . After what she did at the Citadel I have no idea why Charleston voted for her, I know I didn’t.

USAFRetired

What did she do at the Citadel? Aside from.

She graduated in three years vice four becoming the first female to earn an undergraduate degree from the Corps of Cadets.

The fact she was in the Corps might explain her potty mouth.
