Man hospitalized after what police call a self-defense shooting on Cape Coral’s Midpoint Bridge

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —
A man was shot late Thursday night on the westbound side of a Cape Coral bridge after another man opened fire in what police said was self-defense.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers responded around 11:40 p.m. to reports of gunfire on the Midpoint Memorial Bridge.

Officers found that a man had been attacked and the victim responded by shooting the other man, who was then taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds.

Police said the shooting was determined to be self-defense and believe the incident was isolated.

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) – A shooting death investigation is underway in Scott County after a report of a home invasion.

Deputies were called overnight to a home on County Road 244 for a report of a home invasion and shooting.

When they arrived, deputies said they learned that the homeowner had shot and killed someone attempting to break into the home.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, preliminary reports show the homeowner acted to protect themselves when they were alerted about the intrusion and fired four shots at the suspect.

All four shots hit the suspect who died at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said initial findings show the homeowner’s actions of defense appear to have been justified, but the shooting remains under investigation.

No charges have been filed against the homeowner.
