Waiting on that VoteVets endorsement

| January 8, 2010

Apparently Dems are starting to get nervous about the Senate race to replace Ted Kennedy in Massachusetts. That’s good news for anyone who doesn’t like tax and spend leftists. So I just went over to Republican candidate Scott Brown’s website and discovered:

Senator Brown is a proud member of the Massachusetts National Guard, where he has served for nearly three decades and currently holds the rank of Lt. Colonel in the Judge Advocate Generals (JAG) Corps. Brown was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in homeland security following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Sweet! Another veteran in the Senate. About time. I figure that the imminent VoteVets endorsement might put him over the top, right? I mean isn’t that what “VoteVets” is designed to do; increase veteran membership in our deliberative bodies?

Get on the stick Soltz, looking forward to reading and posting the press release annoucing your endorsement.

Wish in one hand and crap in the other, then see which one fills up first……

You will be waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting…………………………Just thought you would want to know that.

If they don’t endorse him, they will need to have a good reason.

In 2008 Vets For Freedom endorsed a civilian over an Iraq war vet. But that was because the civilian wanted to finish the job and win, while the Iraq war vet thought we should retreat from Iraq and apologize on our way out.

If VoteVets wants to claim to be non-partisan, then there shouldn’t be any way they can not endorse a veteran.

Mr Wolf

I have a problem here..

This guy is another pogue, potentially, that after NINE YEARS of combat, SEVEN of which in TWO places, CANNOT bring himself to deploy ONCE? Granted, we need JAG off’s in theater like we need more Taliban, but still..

Anymore, if they don’t deploy, we should not ‘endorse’ in any way…

Wolf

NHSparky

Dave, they’ll endorse him over Coakley when he slides to the left of Scozzafava, who, IIRC, had Code Pink’s endorsement, if that tells you anything. But I won’t hold my breath waiting for an explanation as to why they won’t endorse him over Coakley–open secret and all.

And Wolf, until someone posts his OER, we don’t know where he has or hasn’t been. Hey, I did 12 years in the Navy, and my entire experience during Desert Storm was listening to whale farts through the hull. Unless and until someone can show he INTENTIONALLY avoided hearing things go “bang”, ease up on the guy.

Mr Wolf

Desert Storm was a different animal, especially for reservists. And it only lasted a month or so, overall?

NINE YEARS. And deployments can be 6 months.

Ease up? No. Not hardly.

I have the same problem with ANY around the country who are in this same type of situation…

Jeopardy theme – on.

Dave Thul

Like it or not, Wolf has a point. I look sideways at anyone who has been in more than 5 years and hasn’t been deployed.

He should have at least done a cushy tour in Italy by now, which he could easily imply was a combat tour to Afghanistan.

As someone who actually LIVES in Massachusetts, and who has ACTUALLY SERVED in the Massachusetts Army National Guard with Sen Brown, AND…..as someone who currently happens to be one of Senator Brown’s constituents (he’s currently a Massachusetts State Senator)…allow me to chime in with this nugget.

Facebook Vets for Brown group…currently 591 members

Facebook “vets” for martha group….currently 14 members!

NEED I SAY MORE?????

SCOTT BROWN FOR US SENATE!!!!!

Old Tanker

I had to take a second look at Dave’s comment after TSO said something to get the reference….right over my head the first time!

Hey, Italy….isn’t that where they tested the Urban Assault Vehicle? Hey, chicks dig me!

For what it’s worth, LTC Brown’s Facebook page has several recent pics of him showing the following awards…

MSM, ARCOM w/ 2 OLC, AAM w/ 2 OLC, Reserve Achievement medal w/ silver OLC, NDSM w/ 1 star, GWOT service medal, AFRM w/ silver hourglass, ASM, and two foreign ribbons

Oh, and a set of basic jump wings. So it doesn’t look like he’s found the time to deploy recently. Doesn’t matter to me though. I’d vote for him even if he wasn’t serving, and that’s just icing on the cake.

The Sniper

One of the foreign ribbons was probably to New Brunswick, Canada. I was with the MA Nasty Girls when they deployed on that one. And of all the training deployments I’ve been on I have to admit that it sucked most. I agree with Wolf that his not deploying is odd, but not a show stopper. There are still foks that are active duty that haven’t deployed… I would take most any of them over a Kennedy clone any day of the week.

Also, his district contains a fairly vital town in Army R and D… that being Natick. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Google it.

Paul Couturier

Sniper…….LTC Brown has been further than Canada….he participated in an exercise back in ’06 or ’07 (don’t remember the year) in one of the former soviet republics!

Mr Wolf

I’m sorry guys..I’m just not impressed.

No GITMO? He could CERTAINLY have been used there in his JAG capacity.

Too many have foregone family and jobs and more to serve our country. Some gave all, as we are all aware.

Seemingly, this guy heard the gunfire, and stayed away…

I’m ALL FOR ANYONE beating MA Dem’s out of anything… for that alone I’d vote for him.

Beyond that, meh..
