Rhetorical question about dicksmith

| January 8, 2010

He does realize that libertarians and conservatives are different, right?

Former Libertarian Presidential candidate Bob Barr and I probably agree on very little in the way of policy, outside of certain civil liberties issues. But damn it if he doesn’t keep proving to be the most level headed conservative I ever read.

Bob Barr’s “conservative” policy positions:

Oppose staying in Iraq
Favor Marijuana law repeals
Works for/with the ACLU
Accused the Bush White House of “NSA spying”

Now, granted there are some policy overlaps with Conservatives and Libertarians, but this is dicksmith’s standard MO, to quietly just keep shifting definitions until black is white and white is black. Well, either that or he’s completely fahkin retahded. Who is voting for #2?

I don’t really have anything against Bob Barr, I just think he’s a little odd.

I’ll go with #2. As for Dicksmith, he needs to acquaint himself with a dictionary.

Gary

I check box number 2.

OldTrooper

#2, definitely

Old Tanker

I’m votin’ #2

I wouldn’t exactly consider Barr a “conservative”. He started off as an anti-war Dem, went to the GOP when he parents threatened to cut off his money, then when he got tired of that shifted to the Libertarian flag. Bottom line, dude is a political opportunist/whore of the first order. Had he not run in 1994, people would still be going, “Bob WHO?!?”

And oh yeah–anyone who thinks the Free State Project is, as he put it, “I think it’s tremendous!” is a friggin loon.

I agree with Sparky,

And, of couse, will check box #2.

Ayuh.. boy’s about as smart as a stump fence.

Dear Debra,

“Teh Wiki” also failed to mention he likes to provide legal support for child molesters and pushing for the repeal of the Adam Walsh Act in Georgia. His policies are anything but conservative–frankly, many of them are directly in opposition to conservatives. Hell, half his Op-Eds of late sound like they came straight from the ACLU, but whatever floats your boat.

And I didn’t even need to call you a moron to make my point, nor waste site bandwidth in making my point.

Debra Clark

NHSparky,

False. You said, “And oh yeah–anyone who thinks the Free State Project is, as he put it, “I think it’s tremendous!” is a friggin loon.” Therefore, you called me a frigging loon. How nice is that? Please don’t act like I’m the only one who is offensive.

I didn’t say that Barr’s policies are conservative. He is a former conservative Republican turned Libertarian. That happens sometimes when people do a little more research and develop consistency in the application of the principles they hold dear.

The reason Barr is calling for the repeal of the Adam Walsh Act is not remotely because he is protecting child sex offenders, but because of Constitutional reasons.

FYI, in a nation based on rule of law, the accused do have Constitutional rights. Recognizing that and acting on that does not in any manner constitute an approval, defense, or endorsement of criminal acts.

“The reason Barr is calling for the repeal of the Adam Walsh Act is not remotely because he is protecting child sex offenders, but because of Constitutional reasons.”

Judges need the leeway to make decisions, not mandatory minimums, etc. when handling cases. Acts that tie their hands or erase the constitution, no matter how well intentioned, always end up biting the citizenry in the ass. Teens having sex with other teens and some schmo picking up a hooker are not in the same leauge as a POS baby raper, many of our sex offender laws punish the innocent & bind a judge’s hands.

Junior AG

“Favor Marijuana law repeals.”
Hate to go off track, but anyone notice how Prison Corrections Unions foam at the mouth when anyone suggests this?

Oh, and I do read this blog occasionally, and sometimes more, but some things are boring to me, such as the VoteVets, so I don’t always read everything, or I sometimes just gloss over things and ignore things because it’s not worth getting upset over. The VoteVets stuff I’ve never paid attention to.

Debra,

You’re a loon.

Why don’t you grab one of the bongs you confiscated from the soldiers you busted, take a rip of some sweet sweet sheba, and relax.

Cause honestly, you’re an idiot and need to stop hyperventilating because your superfan status of Bob Barr (who’s an idiot as well) gets in the way of your reading comprehension.

Dear “Removed per request” Debra,

I deal with the Free Staters a lot more than you do–they tried to get 20,000 of them here in NH a while back, remember? Last time I checked, they had enough to fill the janitor’s closet at the Chuck E. Cheese down in Newington–MAYBE. Seriously, by their own count (highly inflated) they have less than 800 here. Nine years and counting, Debra.

These are the same loons who think Ed and Elaine Brown were great American heroes and there were actually some in their number who wanted to support them. Yeah, that’s the mark of a real balanced crowd there.

And Barr thinks they’re “tremendous” bears a bit closer scrutiny. Again, he would never have been elected to Congress were it not for fact he ran in 1994. His political beliefs shift whichever way the wind blows, or at least the way he THINKS the wind is blowing, which in this case is to jump on the MSM/liberal/Libertarian bandwagon and declare the GOP DOA.

And JuniorAG, convicted felons lose many of their Constitutional rights–preventing kiddie-diddlers from living near concentrations of children doesn’t seem like it’s too big an issue. Balance the right of the children to be safe from predators versus the rights of said CONVICTED predators. This isn’t a case of 17-year old boyfriend/16-year old girlfriend. These are high-risk offenders, at high risk to re-offend who are targeted. If the law is too broad, then narrow the focus, but don’t just throw it out entirely.

Back on topic, dicksmith wouldn’t know the difference between a libertarian and a conservative if they wrote it on his hand and made him slap himself silly with it.
