Wagoner County man in hospital after shooting

WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. — A Wagoner County man is in the hospital after being shot on Friday afternoon.

The shooting occurred inside a home on 714 Road in the Whitehorn area of Wagoner County.

According to the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner came home and found one of his friends intoxicated and hanging out with his girlfriend.

The conversation between the homeowner and his intoxicated friend eventually became heated and at some point, the sheriff’s office said the intoxicated friend attacked the homeowner.

The homeowner stated he was then forced to shoot his friend in self defense.

At this time, the homeowner is not expected to face charges.

KBI identifies man shot and critically wounded Friday by a Topeka police officer

A Topeka police officer on Friday shot and critically wounded a man who reportedly displayed a gun after fleeing from the officer near S.W. 21st and Buchanan, a police spokeswoman said.

In a news release sent midday Saturday, the KBI said Joseph L. Pham-Gardner, 37, was the suspect involved.

The officer shortly before 9 p.m. Friday stopped the man, who was on a bicycle, in the area of S.W. 21st and Buchanan, Nichols said. Her news release didn’t say why the officer stopped the man.

“At approximately 8:59 p.m., the suspect initiated a foot pursuit and shortly after the suspect reportedly displayed a firearm,” said Rosie Nichols, public safety communications specialist for the city of Topeka. “The officer then discharged their weapon striking the suspect. A firearm was found at the scene.”
