Moonbat math
Sporkmaster sent me this article from the Leftist Op/ED News which demonstrates to me that the Left has a reading comprehension problem. Look at these statistics they post;
Total U.S. Military Gulf War Deaths: 73,846
– Deaths amongst Deployed: 17,847
– Deaths amongst Non-Deployed: 55,999Total “Undiagnosed Illness” (UDX) claims: 14,874
Total number of disability claims filed: 1,620,906
– Disability Claims amongst Deployed: 407,911
– Disability Claims amongst Non-Deployed: 1,212,995Percentage of combat troops that filed Disability Claims 36%
Now, according to the article, this proves that military is hiding servicemembers’ deaths. Their claim is that 77,000 US service members died DURING the current war in the Gulf region. And the author’s source for the statistics is strangely missing.
So what’s his point?
More than 1,820 tons of radio active nuclear waste uranium were exploded into Iraq alone in the form of armor piercing rounds and bunker busters, representing the worlds worst man made ecological disaster ever.
Yes, we’ve heard it before at Winter Soldier from mega-moron Matt Howard who claimed that we’re disposing of our nuclear waste by firing it off in two pound chunks as DU-tipped tank rounds. How big of a moron do you have to be to believe some stupid shit like that?
Actually, it’s the reason that New Mexico Congressional candidate Adam Kokesh was storing his urine the refrigerator at the DC IVAW House – he thought he was poisoned by DU-tipped darts. Turns out he wasn’t, though.
It seems to me that someone might’ve noticed 77,000 dead soldiers.

Of course there’s no source data to back up the claims. That would be silly to include actual data when you’re trying to weave a perfectly good tale of “military bad, government coverup bad, George Clooney to star in the movie version good”.
C’mon, get with the program fer crissakes!!
OT why use actual numbers when you can pull them out of your ass to elicit an emotional response. Just remeber that 78.354% of all facts on the internet are just pulled out of thin air.
Quick, someone send that article to the NYT … I bet they would put that on the front page for weeks. It may even keep them from going bankrupt.
As Master Yoda would say:
Stupid is strong in this one clyde
How did they arrive at that number? It’s simple. Just watch every youtube video of current and past IAVA members and count the number of buddies they claim were killed ‘right in front of’ them and you will easily exceed 70,000 killed in Iraq.
The article is from September 2007; hate to think what numbers their trying to claim now. For the left it’s not about facts, but how upset something makes you feel.
YatYas, yes yes, that’s the beauty of extremist thought and action. It preys on weakness and emotion, whether it be on an individual or collective scale.
Here’s an interesting story I’d like to share with all of you, and I’d love some logic-filled and non-judgmental feedback on it: when I was in Iraq from 2003 – 2004 (my deployment to Iraq is undocumented in my DD-214, but I have enough in-country photojournalist articles to serve as evidence), I was stationed in several hot spots, one of which happened to be at the BIAP palace. I was informed by a fellow Soldier that “rumor had it” we had been possibly exposed to depleted uranium from one of the rockets lodged into the building. Several months after my return to Kuwait, I noticed a lump forming on the back of my neck. When I went to the military medical center in Camp Arifjan, I was informed that it was a swollen lymph node. Twice. Following instinct and the minute bit of information I retained from school about cervical lymph nodes, I decided to follow up on my return to the US and go to a civilian doctor. As it turned out, the lump was a tumor. Thankfully, it was benign.
Now, I’m not one to play the paranoia game unless I’m either:
1.) Facing some form of valid truth or
2.) I’m really whacked out on dot dot dot
So, that being said and done… what is the truth about this particular state of affairs? Forget the feelings, forget the self-aggrandizing nature of the wings gone awry…. what are the facts?

Ohhhhh bouy! Where’s Claymore! He’s just got to see this one!
