In other news there is a “Far East” Dallas.
Henderson Police Investigate Shooting Incident

Multiple 9-1-1 calls were received advising gunshots were heard and a male subject was observed lying on the ground.
Preliminarily, detectives determined a 33-year-old male was approached by an unknown male with a firearm in his hand in a confrontational manner and demanded his cellphone and wallet. The 33-year-old male discharged multiple rounds from his firearm and struck the unknown male, due to him fearing for his life.
Officers and paramedics attempted lifesaving measures; however, the male succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
There were no other injuries reported other than to the decedent.

Another case of poor victim selection skills. Thanks, Gun Bunny.

Considering the recent goings-on over there, can you blame them for overly cautious?
A simple story, simply told.
“Suspect beats victim
Victim shoots suspect.”
Well done, Dallas reporter.
Similar for the Henderson story.
“Suspect threatens victim in order to rob him.
Victim shoots, kills suspect in self defense”.
A few more details, but no confusion over language and syntax.
Well done, Henderson reporter.
Clear reporting is becoming a lost art.
It’s nice to see two examples of its return.
“Clear reporting is becoming a lost art.” Testify! Welcome to my world. And then there’s the decision to be made as to whether it’s a FGS or a SPoTW submission. Do we have a category in “The Book” for “took fists to a gunfight” yet?
“…discharged multiple rounds…” Shoot til HE knows he’s dead. BZ Citizen!
An armed society is a polite society. Crime in Kennessaw Georgia went WAAAAAY down when the city passed an ordinance requiring households to have a firearm.
Very interesting article on the gun pr0n today. Was only vaguely familiar with that Ferguson. Technology has a way of defeating the accepted Art of War. Took several dozens of decades before “Big Army” realized that the individual soldier needed as much firepower as he could carry. And the training on how to use it. You may recall that the Spenser and Henry type rifles weren’t issued very broadly in the WBTS because Big Army (Union) thought that the privates would waste too much ammunition. Estimates from the Brown Bess period showed that only one (1) out of four hundred (400) rounds hit their targets. WBTS Rifled Springfields and Enfields are one (1) out of every one hundred (100) hit. Sooo…where were the savings on ammunition? How’d you like to go to battle with only 40 rounds in your cartridge box?
You may also recall that the Army resisted stripper clips since they thought troops would ‘waste ammo’ and even the Springfield had provisions for being a single shot for the same reason.
Willing to lose troops due to the cost of the ammo they could carry… reminds me of Slim Pickens’ “we almost lost us a four hunnerd dollar handcar” line. Bet the troops appreciated it just as much, too.
The Army also opposed all repeating rifles during the Civil War. It took no less than Lincoln himself to direct the Army Ordinance department to purchase Spencer rifles.
I’ll just leave this here.
