Homeowner Shoots and Kills Intruder

Jason L. Vermillion decided that he was going to enter someone’s home, uninvited, by force. The homeowner decided to reach out and touch him with a round. Police Officers and first responders attempted life saving procedures on him. They sent Vermillion to the hospital, where he ended his earthly physical sojourn.

From 12 KVS:

SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KFVS) – Police investigated a deadly shooting at a home in Scott City on Saturday, August 24.

According to Scott City Police, officers were called just before 2:45 p.m. to a home to a report of a burglary in progress.

Police said the homeowner called 911 to report that someone kicked in his back door and he shot the intruder.

When officers arrived, the homeowner took them to the scene and to the intruder. Officers began life-saving measures along with other first responders.

Police identified the intruder as Jason L. Vermillion, of Scott City.

Vermilion was rushed to a Cape Girardeau hospital and died a short time later.

Police processed the scene and investigated it as a homicide.

According to investigators, the homeowner said he heard his backdoor being forced open and confronted the intruder.

He reportedly told investigators he was forced to defend himself using a handgun.

As a result of the investigation, Scott City Police Chief Christopher M. Griggs said his department is not seeking charges against the homeowner.

Chief Griggs believes the homeowner was acting in self-defense and was protecting himself and his property.

Members of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Scott City Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.

Book About Homer’s Iliad Resulted in Burglar’s Arrest

A 38-year-old man was in the process of burglarizing a home when something caught his attention. It was a book addressing Homer’s Iliad. The 71-year-old occupant confronted the non-tenant. The burglar abandoned his burglary attempt and left. Authorities later apprehended him.

From The Standard:

According to Italian media reports, the arrested man claimed he had mistakenly entered what he thought was a B&B to visit a friend.

Upon his arrest, the man was found in possession of a bag containing expensive clothing, allegedly stolen from another house earlier that evening.

The book that caught the burglar’s attention was “The Gods at Six O’Clock” by Giovanni Nucci, which explains the Iliad from the perspective of the gods.

Nucci, when informed of the incident, told Il Messaggero: “It’s fantastic.”

He added: “I’d like to find the person caught red-handed and give him the book, because he’ll have been arrested halfway through reading it. I’d like him to be able to finish it.”

Is that the norm in Italy?
To stop a B&E and burglary, give the perp a book? Fascinating.
Is that what we Americans are doing wrong? Use books instead of boolits?
Then again, what is the literacy level of American vs Italian burglars? I’m willing to bet on the Italians.

Is there an English translation of that book, “The Gods at Six O’Clock”? If it’s good enough to stop a burglar, it must be a fascinating book.

It also might be an indictment of the Education system in America vice Italy!

Sorry Gun Bunny, it appears that TheBeSig has temporarily taken over FGS from ‘Ed, so no Gun Pr0n today to get excited over.

Yeah, Tox, that is a shame. I guess I’ll just have to use my dreams of OAM to get excited over. But with besig postings we can always look for somebody to start a flame war argument with him so there is that. I do like that besig posted my all time favorite meme on freedom.

Home intruder thought he was gonna get away scott free and only got a free ride to hell. Fitting.

Stealing expensive clothes? Hmmm…where have we heard about that before?

Busy week ahead for The Gun Bunny which is a good thing. May help keep his mind offen his sorrows. Clearing fields of fire @ COP Timber Ranch today, escort duty tomorrow and Thursday, and my toofus mechanic on Wednesday.

Drop me an email with your addy, thebesig, if you want/need me to send you some FGS to help out.

It wasn’t the gun pr0n that The Gun Bunny was missing. It was the Sunday Gunz Girl. A HillBetty from Twisted Hillbilly. Better late than never?

A chassis that won’t quit, a gun that won’t stop, and trigger control.
What’s not to like lust?

There’s a gun? Damn…I missed that at FIRST glance.

She won’t have to call her daddy if you don’t treat her right.

The only sad part about the perp is he lived long enough to waste valuable resources.

In Scott City the homeowner saw red (Vermilion) and opened fire.
