‘Rust’ Armorer Reed Sentenced to 18 Months

By Dave Workman
More than two and a half years after a live round ended up in a prop gun on the set of the film “Rust” in October 2021, armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in March, was sentenced Monday to 18 months in prison.

According to Fox News, Reed was responsible for firearms on the western movie set in New Mexico, where the Alec Baldwin western was being filmed. Baldwin was actually holding the gun when it discharged, sending a bullet into Hutchins. Reed was working as the film’s armorer, and she was responsible for firearms safety on the set.

Reed was convicted early last month by New Mexico jury. She drew the maximum allowable sentence.

Concealed carry holder detained after shooting man near Grant Park

CHICAGO — An armed concealed carry license holder shot a man who charged at him in the Loop on Thursday morning, Chicago police said. The gun owner was taken in for questioning.

A CPD surveillance camera recorded the incident, which occurred in the 300 block of South Michigan around 5:34 a.m. Police said the 35-year-old licensee got into an argument with a 48-year-old man, but the situation apparently escalated. The armed man fired one shot as the 48-year-old charged at him, striking the man in the abdomen.

EMS transported the injured man to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition.

Police said in a media statement that charges are pending but did not say who was at risk of being charged.

Reed got charged and sentenced, while Alec got away with manslaughter.
What a life!

I wish they would stop calling it a “prop gun”.
And wtf is a retard like Baldwin doing anywhere near firearms?

Much as I dislike that smarmy rat-bastard, I’d be fine if he would just be convicted of being a dick. Did he pull the trigger? Yes. However, the “armorer” (and I use that word veeeerrrry loosely) completely and absolutely failed and bears the vast majority of blame, whereas he just failed. Despite being a real gun, did he think he was getting the equivalent of a fancy cap gun? Or did he know it was a real pistol and that some idiot had a mix of ball and blank rounds on the set? In my mind, those create hugely different expectations. (And I’ve seen a fair amount of ranges with inadvertently mixing ball and blank, unfortunately-usually but not always caught while loading mags.) I think I want him to be guilty because I can’t stand him, as opposed to what the facts can prove, if I’m honest.

I think Alec Baldwin is a sucker of cocks. No doubt about that. And there’s a colussus-sized dildo of schadenfreude on hand given that such a pro-gun control sucker of cocks shot and killed someone with one.

Buuuut, comma, I reasonably expect that a non-trained actor should be able to rely on the expert judgement of someone hired specifically to monitor and ensure weapons props safety on a movie set.

Would the infantryman in me rely on that judgement? Of course not. But actors aren’t infantrymen.

Perhaps this incident (and in reading up on this, this sort of shit happens a lot more often on a movie set than you’d think) will lead to protocol changes and some more firearms safety training for actors. Who knows, maybe with training will come a little less anti-gun bullshit.

I can dream in one hand and shit in the other, I suppose.

Left/libtards have a childish aversion to personal responsibility and are just generally childish anyway, so he probably acted stupid as he normally felt like and found it didn’t work out so well the hard way that time.

I will have to respectfully disagree with everyone who says it’s the armorer’s fault alone. ANYONE who accepts control of a firearm bears the responsibility of verifying it’s status.

Yep, plenty of blame to go around, but at the end of the day, the one pulling the trigger IS responsible. I do believe that I was the FIRST to say that she would go to prison and the POS AB would walk. And here we are. Even if the family of the deceased wins a “wrongful death” lawsuit their loved one will still be dead, AB will be walking around free and preaching to all about “gun control”.

We shorely need to do something about all of the MAGAs in the Windy City going around shooting up folks. ’bout the only way I’d go there is in an MRAP, with a re-enforced rifle platoon carrying a few back up 870s.

If the Demonrats have their way, they will use the powers of a packed SCOTUS to separate us from the rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution.

I may be wrong, (it happens, ask Mrs. GB) but as director/producer the ultimate responsibility lies with AB (All Bullhockey) his own self. That lie-spouting responsibility-dodging self-righteous entitled jerk should bear full responsibility for the death of the crewmember.
YMMV
