US Navy destroyer fires on cargo vessel attempting to sail to Iranian port

A U.S. Navy destroyer operating in the Arabian Sea enforced the ongoing naval blockade of Iranian ports on Sunday when it fired on a cargo vessel attempting to sail toward an Iranian port.
The Iranian-flagged M/V Touska was transiting the north Arabian Sea toward Bandar Abbas, Iran, when it was intercepted by the guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance and issued warnings that it was in violation of the blockade, U.S. Central Command announced on Sunday.
“After Touska’s crew failed to comply with repeated warnings over a six-hour period, Spruance directed the vessel to evacuate its engine room,” the CENTCOM release stated. “Spruance disabled Touska’s propulsion by firing several rounds from the destroyer’s 5-inch MK 45 Gun into Touska’s engine room.”

U.S. Marines assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit subsequently boarded the vessel, the release stated. The Touska remains in U.S. custody.

After the fired rounds went into the M/V Touska, I bet the engines are a little touskaloosa now
I guess that they don’t fire over the bow to stop as a warning.
Dad was Coast Arty during WW2 and when one of his places was Earl Weapons Depot over in NJ, and one day a Navy ship was coming in to load up munitions and didn’t signal with mast flags or radio, a few rounds were shot over the ships bow. Got a nice pic of Dad standing on a 14 In.gun mounted on a railroad car..uknown location

I have a suspicion that Iran has gone ahead and assembled several gun type “little boy” weapons, using 60% enriched, which will work. The thing may be too big for an aircraft, but may be sitting in a bunker on Kharg Island, or on a tanker docked there. 2-3 of such could wipe the island clean of all structure and life.
I sure hope not. Or this week might get rather spicy.
Note: we didn’t cross the 90% line until after the war ended. Little Boy used 85-ish% enriched. 60 can be made to work, just big and heavy. Freighter or Tanker would be the delivery.
