Grandmother shoots man who allegedly broke into her home while fleeing police

Albuquerque police say a woman trying to protect her 4-year-old grandchild shot an auto theft suspect who twice broke into her home demanding car keys Friday night in the North Valley.Joseph Rivera, 32, is charged with burglary, attempted burglary and auto theft.
Franchesca Perdue, an Albuquerque Police Department spokeswoman, said Rivera will be booked into jail after being released from the hospital, where he is being treated.
Rivera is currently on pretrial release in a July 2023 case in which he was found in a stolen vehicle with fentanyl, cocaine and heroin on him, according to court records.

Rather than the Kimber 380, I prefer the Springfield EMP or the Sig 938, both 1911 clones, small and they are 9mm, not 380.
I looked at the field stripped Kimber 380 and didn’t see an L shaped piece of piano wire to capture the recoil spring like my Kimber Ultra Carry .45. I carry the Springfield XDe 9MM and stopped carrying the Springfield XD .40. since I like the 9MM better.
Joseph Rivera is a slow learner. The next Grandmother may have better aim.
Who knows, Granny may have changed him from Joseph to Josey Rivera.

The Kimber micro .380 is a very nice miniaturized 1911.
The model pictured is the one I have and comes with the Crimson Trace grip laser already installed.
It’s the one I always carry to go to the mailbox or walk the dog.
It’s only drawback is the limited capacity of 7 rounds in the magazine.
