Neighbor dispute ends in fatal shooting
LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio — In a tragic incident today, a dispute between neighbors escalated into violence, resulting in the death of one man. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at approximately 4:50 PM regarding a shooting at 340 TR 76 in Willow Wood, Ohio.
According to Sheriff Jeff Lawless, 61-year-old Donald Russell reported the incident. Upon returning home from work, Russell heard loud banging noises emanating from his hunting cabin, situated several hundred yards away from his residence. Investigating the disturbance, he encountered his neighbor, 73-year-old Curtis L. Craig, who was attempting to dismantle the cabin’s underpinning.
Craig, armed with a small-caliber rifle, confronted Russell, leading to a heated argument. As tensions escalated, Craig , authorities said, threatened Russell with the firearm. Russell attempted to retreat, but Craig reportedly persisted in advancing. A physical altercation ensued, during which Craig allegedly struck Russell in the face. The two men, reports say, grappled, and Russell managed to take the rifle away from Craig.
However, the confrontation took a deadly turn when Craig allegedly retrieved a knife and attempted to stab Russell. Russell, authorities said, fired the rifle, striking Craig multiple times in the upper torso. The severity of the injuries proved fatal.

Who actually wrote that review on the Cobra 380? The first half of the article reads ok, but the bottom half reads like it was first written in English, translated to a Pacific Rim language, then re-translated back to English (without referring to the original).
Sounds like some long simmering resentment between Mr Craig and Mr Russell finally let loose. Or Mr Craig stopped taking his meds. Or both.
Pity.
That video is tough to watch, but it shows what adrenaline and/or drugs can do. The suspect was compliant once the bullets he absorbed finally started taking effect, and seems like he might have survived, but you can tell by his breathing, or lack thereof, that there was little chance of him surviving. Spoiler: he didn’t.
We got a trifecta of used guns in last week: a J.C. Higgins Model 20 (Sears’ rebranded High Standard), a Lorcin .380, and an Iberia (Hi-Point) .40 S&W. I think the store paid $200 for all three. I’m probably buying the Lorcin, at a whopping $50 minus discount, and because I once owned a similar Iberia, I may drop the $115 or so for that as well. Pot metal guns like Cobra, Hi-Point, and Lorcin serve their purposes for inexpensive but reliable enough defensive arms. A bonus is that they weigh enough to double as a bludgeoning weapon.
I have a Hi Point 45, it’s been my bedside gun for many years, and there it will stay. Unless I want to throw it in a backpack (by itself), and hike around the block to tone myself up.
Two (2) dumbasses, each with two (2) weapons and we get two (2) DRTs. A good score in anybody’s book.
There was an equal amount of teh stoopid with the two (2) perps…and just because the internal parts of the Cobra resemble a 1911, don’t mean that it is equal, thus proving Mr. Aristotle’s comment. One gets what one pays for…you bet your life.
This is more SPotW but it does give me a little feeling of goodness.

So,
Both charged with “two counts of possession of a machine gun and two counts of possession of a large capacity magazine”.
Million dollar bond for bouf’m.
I’m over here waiting for the DA to negotiate away some of these charges (for the usual reasons) for purposes of my own eventual needing defense against errant persecution.
