Army veteran tried to sell US secrets to Russia

| October 24, 2023

In addition to being an Army veteran, Jareh Sebastian Dalke, 31, was a former National Security Agency (NSA) employee. With $237,000 in debt, he figured that if he sold secrets to the Russians, he would be helping the country that he “had ties” to while mitigating the debt. He provided the information to someone he thought was a Russian agent. After that event, he tried to reapply to work at the NSA.

From the Military Times:

Dalke was arrested on Sept. 28, 2022, after authorities say he arrived at Denver’s downtown train station with a laptop and used a secure connection set up by investigators to transfer some classified documents.

According to the indictment, the information Dalke sought to give Russia included a threat assessment of the military offensive capabilities of a third, unnamed country. It also includes a description of sensitive U.S. defense capabilities, some of which relates to that same foreign country. He allegedly told the undercover agent that he had $237,000 in debts and that he decided to work with Russia because his heritage “ties back to your country.”

Before Dalke transferred the classified information, he sent a thank you letter that opened and closed in Russian and in which he said he looked “forward to our friendship and shared benefit,” according to court filings.

Dalke worked as an information systems security designer for the NSA, the U.S. intelligence agency that collects and analyzes signals from foreign and domestic sources for the purpose of intelligence and counterintelligence. After he left and gave the classified information to the undercover agent, prosecutors say he reapplied to work at the NSA.

The Military Times has additional information here.

Got it, debt is a pain, but getting $237k deep is something else. Attempting to sell classified information to pay that debt (would he have, really, or just ended up doubling his debt?) is dumb, then applying for a position back at NSA afterward is even dumber. Now, 22 years or so in federal prison should help him get back on his feet.

Screw that.

I would prefer a nice hemp rope attached to a tree with his neck getting slowly stretched.

If they decide to go with firing squad, I’d like to volunteer.

Whirlybird ride…HANO (or LANO no matter). DZ in an open air stadium. Good training for the Air Crew. Take bets as to whether or not he bounces…and how high/how many times he bounces. Sell tickets to the event.

Anybody else remember when spying for a foreign enemy was a Capital Offence? I’ll bet that Pepper Ridge Farms remembers.

Liright

The Clint Eastwood movie, “Hang “Em High” says it all!

To deter this traitorous crap, the system needs to publicly hang this moron. I am glad you mentioned hemp rope. A judge back in the day once said it was cruel and unusual punishment to hang a man with manilla rope, as it leaves unsightly rope burns. Hemp is the only way to go, as the rope surface is much smoother.

As a side note, to be historically correct, in my Civil War cavalry unit, we had to buy hemp rope imported from Russia because hemp rope was illegal to make in the US. We used it for our company picket line and smaller diameter pieces for our picket pin ropes. The outlaw of hemp was one of the stupider things this nation did to combat the growing of hemp crops in the US. It was done at the behest of William Randolph Hearst, as hemp was a component of newsprint paper, which competed with Hearst’s use of wood pulp to make his newspaper paper. He owned interests in forest land that provided the wood for wood pulp.

If he misses the old country that much, pretty sure someone can pony up a Makarov for him to experience the full NKVD experience when it comes to dealing with traitors.

Reminds me of the old Red Army Reenactor Yahoo Group back in 2000 or so. After one of the fairly rare Ostfront reenactments, some people were talking about their experiences. I only every attended Western Front like that at Fort Indiantown Gap, but I was a member of multiple reenactor Groups.

Anyway, seems they got way too into character. They would “execute” their fellow reenactors, including females (for spreading lice around the unit). Everyone played along, from the Commissars (no, not that one) and officers shooting the blank pistol nearby to those being given the treatment this Dolte should receive.

I’m reading Russia: Revolution and Civil War by Antony Beevor. How anyone could be a Bolshevik is beyond me. The anti-Semitics, the anti-middle class, the class consciousness (later to be taken up the CCP), the anti-anyone who isn’t Lenin seemed to be the battle cry for the reds.

My goodness, doesn’t history repeat itself.

SFC D

I’m not sure if it repeated, or if it’s just cyclical.

“How anyone could be a Bolshevik is beyond me.”

Remember where the phrase “drink the koolaid” came from? Homo Sapiens have an amazing capacity for non-sapience.

IMHO just look at how the ultra-rich Elites are manipulating pols and Bureaucrats to dumb our public education systems down, and to me it’s evidence that they want History to repeat itself.

A friend of mine is a WWII reenactor. He portrays a Soviet Red Army soldier when he is not playing German Wehrmacht infantryman. He even has one of those blank only firing PPSH submachine guns.

Odie

Alec Baldwin shot blanks too, in theory.

I was extremely un-PC, portraying an SS-Pionier in a 12th SS Engineer unit before our unit decided that the older members warranted us becoming 1st SS LSSAH. At that point we began portraying an Infantry unit and my rank became SS-Schütze. Different times, different mentality. Our group leader was a cop in New Jersey, and while we lacked the vehicles that some units had, he and other members had transferable machine guns with blank dedicated barrels, including an MG42, MP40, MP44, and MP28. All I ever carried was a K98k, but I did get to fire a Pak 40 7.5cm cannon at Fort Knox when we were invited to do a scripted reenactment at the Patton Museum on Memorial Day weekend 2004.

The blank-fire only guns are neat but not as common 20 years ago. One thing that some units did have were gas guns: dummy belt-fed machine guns connected to a backpack-carried gas tank to create the sound effect. Hearing them getting the guns tuned was always interesting.

Very cool. I have never been to a WWII reenactment, as the ones within driving range are all invitation only–no public admitted.

My dentist friend had a Chinese copy of the BMW motorcycle used by the Wehrmacht. He has completely modified to look like the WWII model down to the data plates and the unit markings. I went to his office one day and there it was, with three dummy potato masher grenades strapped to the rear fender rack.

Those Chinese BMW clones have always been on my want list, despite me no longer reenacting. Some units had the ubiquitous jeeps, halftracks, and even tanks and Kettenkrads.

At Fort Knox, I got to ride on top of an M3 Lee after the event. We were also given a behind the ropes tour of the Patton Museum, with the only off-limits displays being a DS capture Iraqi T-72 and a StuG III, both with original paint and markings. I have pictures of myself in and on the Panther, on the 8.8cm Flak gun, and on a Kettenkrad, among other displays. The little Renault light tank was a pain to get in, while the British Mark V(?) was spacy for a couple of people but I wouldn’t have wanted to crew one 105 years ago.

There is an empty concrete cell at Supermax,
vacated June 2023 by the death of Robert Hanssen.

This scumbag checked out back in June?

How the Hell did I miss THAT? I wonder where he’s buried, and how long the line is to defecate on his grave.

IIRC, unless Family Members want to claim the remains, the corpse is buried in a remote place with only a small concrete marker with their Inmate Number on it.

Execute this traitor.

Throw him to Bubba.

Oh, what difference does it make?! /s

Couldn’t he just have gotten a high paying BOD job for some Ukrainian oil company like honest folks do to pay off debts?

Blaster

Was he using the same contact as Obama, Biden and the Clintons?

Slow Joe

Who caught this guy?
I am glad to see someone is still working hard to protect our country from the inside.
It is probably a very lonely job since 90 percent of the FBI is concentrated on investigating January 6th.

That individual has probably been fired by now.

A Proud Infidel®™

Well, he isn’t a member of some powerful political D-rat family, thus he’s SCREWED, and rightfully so!

Fly him over to Russia, drop him off, then fly back.

Please note that I mentioned nothing about landing the plane in Russia.
