Healthcare debate on the streets of DC (video added)
I went looking for the “Million Meds March” today and I found two protests. The first appeared to be Puerto Ricans in Upper Senate Park advocating for free healthcare for Puerto Ricans. I might have been sympathetic, but somehow, calling themselves Americans while chanting in Spanish didn’t endear me to them – not to mention the “Viva Puerto Rico” while they’re all standing squarely in the center of Washington, DC;
Then I went down to the park where the “Meds” were supposed to be and I found quite a bit fewer than a million – about 999,900 fewer.
I should have been clearer – these doctors and nurses oppose the health care bills working their way through Congress. They were in DC to confront their representatives;
But they were there. I don’t know which protest was better. You decide;
Thanks to Tankerbabe for alerting us to the Million Meds march last week.

“We’re gonna have a half million doctors and millions of nurses!!!!!” Yeah, how’s that working out for ya, scooter?
These idiots do not seem to realize that doctors and nurses work for a living and do not have the time to show up and be props. When they show up, it is to say “this is not going to work!”
Wife here is a nurse. Susan is correct.
And Nurses already send tooooo much time dealing with paperwork. Now if there were assurances that that would change…

Thanks for posting this. AFAIK, you’re the ONLY media outlet to have any coverage of the event at all.
Their numbers may have been few, but they came from all over the US. I salute these doctors for asserting that they are NOT slaves.

Blond in pic 4. Meds protest was better!
Check this web page http://www.aapsonline.org/for more information where these doctors stand (Association of American Physicians and Surgeons). AMA only represents 17-19% of doctors. Many assume from AMA’s support that doctors support the HC legislation. I was on Capitol Hill with http://www.theBandofMothers.com on September 9/10. Many doctors were visiting their legislators and stopped to talk with us. It was apparent that they did not care for what is being considered. I have talked with my own doctors and not one support it. Fox News reported on the 10/1 Med Rally today and had two doctors on to comment. Thank you Jonn for your work.
You’re ignorant about Puerto Rico connection to the U.S. That’s why you’d have the caption.
