An initial investigation showed a resident of the apartment shot at the person as they attempted to come in through a low level window. Police said the two appear to be acquainted and “the location of the burglary was not random.”As the gun used in the shooting was stolen, the resident, identified as Larry Robinson III, is being charged with receiving stolen property, police said. Biofire….
Just about the most useless and unreliable piece of software impaired hardware that attempted to fire a boolit.
I wouldn’t depend on it to be a paperweight without a fuckup.
The most plasticized abomination of all abominations. The key is, tho…fight back citizens…bring any and every weapon to bear…even if it is a plasticized abomination.
I remember watching Ian’s video before and he seemed to be impressed with the way it fired, he did have a failure to feed but there have been plenty of other manufactures whose guns and magazines (or certain aftermarket ones made for that model) failed to work all the time. Glad to see Biofire dilligently checking their Quality Assurance to see how they can ensure it doesn’t continue to happen and why it is happening.
Being the nerd that I am, I recall an RPG in which the Smartgun is a feature to better aim. You get a neural implant to connect to your eyes so your sights are built in, and a little piece of hardware implanted in your hand(s), the security was a secondary feature.
I can see how some (non-technologists) would be against this feature, but I can also see where gun phobic individuals who are also fearful would want something like this. As long as we don’t keep electing idiots who want to force people to use this technology, it is just a technology. You can take it or leave it!
Regarding the Kent situation. If the guy being burglarized is also a burglar but now his “buddy” (ie fellow burglar) now wants to take the “victim’s” share of the recent burglaries they both committed, is he really a “victim”? I kind of got that scenario reading between the lines of the article. It’s either that or the burglary “victim” took the gun from the guy making entry and used it on him but that is also not stated in the article.
Either way, the example of journalism there is disappointing.
Remember the first “Smart Gun” from Armitix?
“An NRA review of the Armatix iP1, as tested at a range, showed that even with a trained user, the “pistol initially required a full 20 minutes to pair with the watch” and still then needed “a minimum of seven push-button commands and a duration of 12 seconds before the gun can be fired.” Just what most folks want for home defense.
