Thursday shorts: Harris, Alien, Lee, Dead Russki
The few actual duties of the Vice President are to a) keep breathing b) replace the President if they are incapacitated and c) cast tiebreaker votes in the Senate if needed. Kamala Harris is doing the latter (nice, given that the other things she has been assigned to do like address the border crisis have gone unaddressed):
Harris, who will be in office at least another 18 months and is seeking reelection, has tied John C. Calhoun’s record for tiebreaking votes in the Senate at 31. MSN
Now, it took Calhoun 8 years to hit 31 back 1825-1832. Harris took 2.5 years. Says something about how partisan and evenly balanced the Senate is.
Among other things, there is a county in northern Alabama named after Calhoun. Wonder what will be named after Harris?

One of Zelensky’s bodyguards was noted toting a $5000 “Alien” pistol recently. Good that all that US aid is going to something nice, right?
The core of the design is centered on a fixed barrel positioned in the frame, not the slide. This gives the pistol what is referred to as a very low bore axis.
A handgun with a low bore axis design inherently helps with mitigating felt recoil, since much of the force is directed back into the palm rather than over it. A low profile slide that really exists on just the sides, not the top of the pistol, also helps greatly with having less mass moving backward at a lower height. WarZone
Price kvetching aside – this positions the barrel well under the standard Browning design, contributing to ‘way less muzzle flip. Looks like a generous slide lock, nice slide serrations, and the sights are mounted on a separate strap a la the Browning pistols designed by (sorry, KOB) JMB’s grandsons so the sights stay fixed and don’t reciprocate. Very elegant design. Wonder when it comes out in .45?

Driving a stake in affirmative action, Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) says she is a “clear recipient” of affirmative action.
“I rise today as a clear recipient of affirmative action, particularly in higher education,” she added. Fox via Yahoo
Well, if you wanted a reason to have an opinion on the recent Supreme Court decision striking down affirmative action – there ya go.

Nothing like OpSec – a Russian submarine commander, Stanislav Rzhitsky, assassinated while on his morning jog in Krasnodar may have helped enable his own hit.
Russian media earlier reported that Rzhitsky’s killer may have used Strava, a widely available app used by runners and cyclists, to follow his movements.
Rzhitsky’s jogging and cycling routes appear on an account in his name on the Strava app. One of his regular jogging circuits that he took while working in Krasnodar include the park where he was killed early Monday.
One Russian media outlet, Tsargrad, said the assailant “planned the murder so carefully that the moment of the attack did not appear on any CCTV cameras.” CNN
Who says all these publicly accessible apps don’t come in handy.
That was how US special operations teams were outed in Syria, jogging apps.
No Gal Luft? Bring it, I double dog dare ya.
Shot OUT!
Yep, similar to my experience at Recruiting School. Me: 29-year-old Infantry SSG assigned to The Old Guard and usually maxing pushups. Grader: 40-something SFC Career Recruiter with a beer belly assigned as an instructor. I passed, but didn’t max.
Full disclosure: 7.5 years later I was a 37-year-old SSG at the Drill Sergeant Academy. I’d dropped 40+ pounds, had my second hernia surgery, and lost much of my upper body strength and endurance. The petite female Drill Sergeant Leader counted almost all of my pushups, netting me the 70% I needed to graduate. 💩
Assassination of military personnel, in their home country, at their home doing civilian things.
I can’t think of any reason how this won’t end badly.
Russia is already assassinating Ukrainian military members, they did two last month.
On a jog at their house?
We will reap what we sow. No sad faces around Fort Bragg/Liberty when it happens.

Some of their own might have “accidents” too.
I wouldn’t call what happened to Kennedy an accident.
SHIela(T) Jackson Lee is one of the many reasons I strongly dislike Houston.
Another Yankee import from New York. I wish she would return there.

And no WONDER they wanted to sell/get rid of you!

“First Look: Springfield Armory Echelon 9mm Pistols”
https://www.shootingillustrated.com/content/first-look-springfield-armory-echelon-9mm-pistols/
“Springfield Armory has released the Echelon 9mm, a new take on the modern, striker-fired duty pistol. This modular and highly adaptable handgun is engineered for superior ergonomics and built to perform when the going gets tough.”
Not bad for a Sig 320 copy
I’d have it!
Haven’t watched any yet, but I’ve had YouTube suggestions pop up from Forgotten Weapons and Colion Noir (I believe, maybe other channels). We sell Springfield pistols but haven’t even gotten the Prodigy. My vanilla retail establishment sells mostly Hellcats and XDs, along with the usual assortment of Glocks, FNs, SIG Sauers, and budget Rugers and Taurus’. Oh, and Kimber and S&W, along with a few more.
I hated on Glock for years but now own a 17 Gen 5 and a 45. I can see why they’re so popular with law enforcement. I’ve had a Beretta M92F for years (the fact it’s a 92F and not an FS indicates its age). Given my current job, I plan to add Springfield, FN, SIG, S&W and other semiautos to my collection (not really digging Kimber given price versus performance/innovation), so I can better recommend or give my opinion on brands to our customers. This Echelon looks decent, but I wonder what, if anything, it has over the Glock 45 I already carry.
My last addition was a Sig 320 and I love it! My son’s all love it too. It has become my “go-to”, and I have the same that you mentioned above-Glock, 92F, 1911 (Colt), S&Ws,!
I am surprised a PSD member would want an Alien, it is the epitome of a Race-Gun, but they can pick and choose what they want. Maybe they had it laying around from their previous life as a professional shooter prior to the war?!
I would think they would want something a little more versatile like an FK BRNO PSD (aka Field Pistol) https://www.fkbrno.com/field-pistol in 7.5FK the ammo might not be as easy to come by (unless you use the 9mm barrel), but you can certainly reach out and touch someone… and they will feel it!
“Wonder what will be named after Harris?”
Most likely, a line of designer kneepads and a variety of flavored lip balms.
Damn, beat me to it!
I was kinda surprised the thread didn’t start with that.
Better to throw raw meat out for the feast than to serve it on a platter. More fun when YOU GUYS make the comments.
Damn… a little tea came out of my nose. Thanks for the grin.
🤭😎
My mom told me that, back in the 40s, they referred to women like Harris as “Round Heeled”.
Easy to tip over backwards.
😆😅🤭😆😅🤭😆😅🤭
Kamala “Heels Up” Harris. Got her political appointments the old fashioned way.
Calhoun County, Alabama is the home of the US Army Post, Fort McClellan, named after Major General George Brinton McClellan, Commanding General of the US Army from 1861–1862.
(Good thing he was a Union Soldier. Fort McClellan will never have its name changed. IMHO, if ya gonna change names of Army and Navy Installations and Navy ships and submarines, change the names of ALL of them, not just some…Talk about Discrimination…Sheesh!).
McClellan was accepted at the United States Military Academy in 1842 at the age of 15, with the Academy waiving its usual minimum age of 16. He graduated in 1846 at the age of 19 and was second in his class of 59.
Some of Mcclellan’s closest friends at West Point were George Pickett, Dabney Maury, Cadmus Wilcox, and A. P. Hill. Recognize any of these names? Fort Pickett? Fort A.P. Hill? As in “Change Those Army Posts Names To Fort Barfoot and Fort Walker” because after all, Pickett, Maury, Wilcox and Hill were BAD, EVIL TRAITORS…I mean SOUTHERNERS…I mean CONFEDERATE GENERAL OFFICERS, during the War Between The States. *sarc*
(The same South that folks from the North and even the Wild, Wild West are currently flocking to…think New York, California).
So…Do you think Shelia Jackson-Lee will CHANGE her name? After all, Andrew Jackson was a Southerner and owned slaves…His VP was John C. Calhoun…
Bobby Lee? He was an Immoral, Wicked Traitor as well (sarc) whose wife was Mary Anna Custis Lee, the daughter of George Washington Parke Custis, who was the grandson of Martha Dandridge Custis Washington, the wife of George Washington.
She also was the owner of Arlington Estate. Their son, George Washington Curtis Lee, was able to return Arlington back to the rightful owners, the Lees. He sold it back to the US Government. Robert Todd Lincoln (Abe’s Son) signed for the title.
BTW, Happy Birthday to Nathan Bedford Forrest. Before you start with the KKK stuff, read “The Rest Of The Story…”
😉😎
Forest will NEVER be given credit for his stance later in life. To include his opinion of what the KKK TURNED into. Too bad, it was an actual success story for integration!
Blaster!
You nailed it reference “The Rest Of The Story”..
Thank You!
Yes Sir!👍
Did McClellan invent the McClellan saddle or was it just named after him.
Jeff:
Yep…!
“The McClellan saddle was a riding saddle designed by George B. McClellan, after his tour of Europe as the member of a military commission charged with studying the latest developments in engineer and cavalry forces including field equipment.”
Thank You!
The problem with us old Southern (and White) families, even ones like mine with little-known names, is that we have hereditary racism and must be forced to atone for the sins of our forefathers. If a place was named in honor of our ancestors, or if a memorial or–try not to burst out in tears–a statue in their likeness was erected, it must be renamed and/or torn down because, well, feelings.
Never mind that many Confederate officers chose sides based on loyalty to their states, after decades of loyal service to the Union and lifelong friendships with their newly sworn enemies. Never mind that after the war, prominent “traitors” like Lee wanted reconciliation and for the US to reunite as a stronger nation. Never mind that most of us modern-day descendants of centuries-old Virginia families (as well as those of other states) have little in common with our Civil War and Reconstruction-era ancestors, much less the possible slave-owners that we can trace back through family trees.
I trained at Fort Polk, Fort AP Hill, and Fort Pickett. I was stationed on Fort Benning as well as installations that aren’t seeing name changes (for the time being, how long until Revolutionary and Union notables are declared racist?). No naming committee will convince me that the places I shed blood, sweat, and tears at must be referred to as Johnson, Walker, Barfoot, or Moore. I can’t take away from the accomplishments of the men the forts were renamed in honor of, but those names do not represent what I once knew, nor what generations of my family knew.
BRAVO, fm2176…
BRAVO!
You Nailed It….! 👏👏👏👍👍👍👌👌👌
Thank You!
To All:
If Y’All ever get to venture to Camp Shelby in Hattieburg, MS and Vicksburg, Mississippi, check out the headstone of Douglas The Camel at Vicksburg!
The 442nd CRT. “Go For Broke” has a monument dedicated to them at Camp Shelby since that is where they trained during WW2.
So Much History In Our Own Backyard!

Salute!
Unfortunately,, I was just there 5 days ago and didn’t know about this.
But, I will next time!
Sorry, fat fingers! TAG should have been BLASTER!

Did Someone Say Harris?
😉😎
Wasn’t that the same line of “reasoning” that brought us Obozo-BiteMe?
We only had to wait 4 years to get the reality.
When we are shipping pallets of $100 dollar bills to Ukraine to fund their government, just like we did in Iraq and A-Stan, $5k for a boutique pistol is chump change.
In other news… with investigative greatness previously only displayed by the FBI; the investigation into the bag of mystery powder in the White House has been concluded without any suspects identified.
So apparently you can sneak street drugs into the most heavily guarded home on Earth and no one is the wiser. I can’t help but wonder what the Chinese and the Russians think of all this? Suppose instead of Coke it had been Anthrax or some other bug? That would be something if the entire Biden WH died of bio-weapon.
I LIKE your line of thought….
In the 2020s, security is only compromised when a) MAGA attacks! (January 6th), or b) Orange Man Bad! Otherwise, it’s business as normal. My opinion lines up with that of a great sage by the name of Eazy-E, “So you can kiss my Black ass, [Fornicate with] the White House, it ain’t my house, So you can burn the mutha[censored for the children] down for all I care, cause t-shirts and khakis is all I wear…”
A man of sophistication, always dressing up compared to the Resident-in-Chief’s son, who’s usually dressed in a scarf and underoos.

It looked like a jock strap stuffed with napkins so that, you know, the thing would look bigger.

“Air Force Delays Bonuses And New Assignments Amid Political Feud Over Space Command’s New Headquarters”
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/military/air-force-delays-bonuses-new-assignments-political-feud-space-commands-rcna93491
“The U.S. Air Force is delaying re-enlistment bonuses and planned moves for its personnel after Alabama lawmakers blocked funding for the service amid a political quarrel over the location of Space Command’s new headquarters.”
“The Air Force is taking actions “to avoid exhausting funds” and is putting off orders for planned change of station moves for personnel as well as bonuses for airmen who re-enlist, the Air Force said in a statement Monday.”
“The decision came after Alabama lawmakers moved to curtail funding for the Air Force until the service’s secretary makes a public announcement on the location of the new Space Command headquarters. The facility originally was planned for Colorado but during the administration of President Donald Trump, the Air Force revised its plans and opted to place the headquarters in Alabama after reviewing six possible locations. Trump has claimed credit for the change in plans.”
“The Air Force said it faces “higher than projected personnel costs” but did not say why that was the case and did not mention recent moves in Congress to curtail funding.”
“NBC News previously reported that Biden administration officials have signaled privately to Defense Department leaders and lawmakers that they are considering reversing the planned move to Alabama over concerns about the state’s strict anti-abortion laws.”
“Lawmakers from Colorado, meanwhile, have pushed to build the Space Command in their state. The command’s temporary headquarters is currently in Colorado.”
https://gab.com/Dissidentsoaps/posts/110696757311050687
“So, the new Space Force (lmao) Headquarters was supposed to be built at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL (home of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center.)”
“But the Biden administration is trying to financially choke red states, and has cancelled that decision, citing Alabama’s restrictive abortion laws. In response, Alabama’s US legislators, namely Senator Tuberville on the Senate Armed Services committee, and Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, have blocked the entire Air Force’s funding.”
“As a result, PCS moves are cancelled and reenlistment bonuses are off the table until 2024, an especially painful hit given the current morale of the US military.”
https://www.revolver.news/2023/07/alabama-senators-call-bidens-bluff-and-just-defunded-all-air-force-spending/
“In a move that’s not too surprising, the Biden administration is once again attempting to pressure red states and drain them of resources. This is nothing new; we’ve seen this regime use every unethical and unfair political tool in their arsenal to desperately maintain power. The silver lining is that this time, their strategy has backfired. The Biden administration thought that they had a sure-fire plan to squeeze red states financially by revoking a contract to build the Space Force HQ in Alabama. The decision was supposedly made because of Alabama’s stringent abortion laws. But, in a briliant countermove, Alabama’s U.S. legislators, specifically Senator Tuberville from the Senate Armed Services Committee, and Mike Rogers, the head of the House Armed Services Committee, have cut all funding for the Air Force.”
“Once again, Biden tries to get cute with politics and it blows up in his face.”
Canceled PCS moves would suck if you are somewhere you were looking forward to leaving.
How would you like to be at minot, with no idea of when you could pcs to a possible warmer climate. Or get off the island of Okinawa.
Getting stuck in Germany or England wouldn’t be a problem for me however. October fest and the autobahn. Not a good combination, but fun by themselves.
