D.C. Court Strikes Down Magazine Capacity Cap in Ruling and How That Affects New Jersey’s 10-Round Limit
Trenton, NJ – A major court decision in Washington, D.C. has intensified the national legal fight over firearm magazine limits, potentially setting up a showdown at the U.S. Supreme Court that could impact New Jersey’s 10-round magazine law. In March 2026, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals ruled that the city’s ban on magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition violates the Second Amendment. The court concluded that such magazines are widely owned across the country and therefore qualify as arms that are in “common use,” a key constitutional standard established by the U.S. Supreme Court.
The ruling directly challenges one of the most common firearm restrictions in the United States. Several states, including New Jersey, California, New York and Massachusetts, enforce laws limiting the number of rounds that a firearm magazine can hold. If the issue reaches the Supreme Court, the final decision could reshape gun laws nationwide.

The Pirate’s Cove
Vermont has a 10 round for long guns and 15 round for hand guns law. The Vermont Federation of Sportsman Clubs has had a law suit rolling around in the court system for a few years now.
Hopefully this infringement will get tossed at some time in the near future.
nyc came up with the 10 only rounds in a mag so the NYPD complaine about it and the 10 rd’s in a mag were cancelled. Brink’s complained about it because our S&W 4046 mags held 12 rds but were denied to load 12 rds in the mags. Had to be 10. We put the guns in litle plastic wall mounted box “safes’ at the end of the day…Lucky these nyc ass-holes weren’t around when we were using S&W Mod 10’s and Colt .38 Police positive wheel guns. or they would complain that 6 rds were two many although when we were US Trucking Armored car before the Brink’s merger we were told not to put a round on top so there wouldn’t be an A/D if the hammer hit it and in the newer S&W’s that theory was disproved with the guns hammer block. Gun custodian used an older broken gun and hammered the shit out of the hammer and the hammer broke without the firing pin hitting the empty cartridge.
Leftist pols in Colorado have included a mag limit in their slate of unconstitutional bullshit they’ve inflicted upon this once great state… though as a sign of how bad things have gotten here, that’s actually one of the least egregious things they’ve passed.
They hold public hearing, comments are 90%+ AGAINST whatever fascist crap they’re proposing, and they pass it anyway. They don’t give even a tiny rats ass what the citizens want.. ( same douche nozzles that continue to vote against the SAFE act, and funding DHS )
IIRC the courts have already spoken on most, if not all of the silly anti gun laws being proposed, yet the left continues to double down on the stupidity.
The idea is for gun groups and companies to spend their way into bankruptcy fighting these laws. The pols don’t care, it isn’t their money. Should be a law that if you introduce a law later found to be unconstitutional, you have to pay the legal fees to fight it.
I’d vote for that!
I’m coming late to the party, yet I see NO comments on Our Lady of the Lake.
I’d say that her weapon of choice has a further reach than the traditional sword.
And in keeping with the ancient traditions of KoB (RIP), I wonder what she’s (not?) wearing below the waterline. Would I take her home? I’d love to, but since I don’t have a pool in my back yard, where would I put her……that is, without my wife kicking me out into that same backyard?
