Wagner Mercs March on Moscow

| June 24, 2023

Wagner Group Mercenary

Yevgeny Prigozhin’s Wagner Group has been described as private military company, a Russian proxy force, or a mercenary army for hire- pays your money and takes your point of view.

According to White House spox John Kirby, the Wagner Group has an estimated 50,000 personnel inside Ukraine — around 10,000 contractors and 40,000 convicts from Russian prisons. Consider the source.

Prigozhin has in the past accused Russia’s military leadership of incompetence in Ukraine, but on Friday he publicly accused them of striking his forces.

Prigozhin’s forces have since entered Rostov, a city in the south of Russia. Prigozhin denied it is an armed rebellion but calls it “a march of justice.”

Wagner Rebels ‘Will Answer’ For Betrayal Says Putin as Rostov Occupied, Moscow Locked Down

OLIVER JJ LANE

President Vladimir Putin has now addressed the Russian nation by television, vowing “punishment” hours after Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin declared he was withdrawing his troops from Ukraine and marching his mercenary army to Moscow.

An “armed rebellion” against Moscow is treason and betrayal, and a threat to the Russian state which the government will “react harshly” to with “inevitable punishment, Vladimir Putin said in a televised address on Saturday morning. He also stated that “antiterrorist measures” were now in place in Moscow itself.

Warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin, the commander of the Wagner Private Military Company which is engaged around the world but particularly in Ukraine, where it had fought some of the toughest battles against Ukrainian defenders on behalf of Putin, has said he is taking his army to Moscow but insists it is not a coup.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Per an intelligence digest by Britain’s Ministry of Defence (sic) this morning, the Wagner Mercenaries are proceeding towards Russia without meeting resistance and have occupied Rostov-on-Don, the “HQ which runs Russia’s military operations in Ukraine”.
Breitbart
Vlad’s threats ring a bit hollow, considering the rolling disaster his Ukraine invasion has become. I can’t see him slipping quietly out the back door to his Swiss chalet, either. Stand by.
False flag operation
I wouldn’t believe any of this BS
5JC
I think this is exactly what it looks like. You should watch some of the videos. It would be the ultimate deep fake.
Prigozhin has been bitching non-stop about The Russian army for the last 6 months. He has his own online channel and goes into great detail about how stupid they are.
It was only a matter of time before they took him out. I bet he went to Rostov to try to find evidence of the attack. If he finds any it will be right on that channel.
If the attack on his troops turns out to be a false flag, whoever dreamed that up, needs to be promoted immediately because that is a pure stroke of genuis.
Commissar
It is real.
Bridges and roads to Moscow are being blocked.
Russian aircraft are being shot down in Russia. Supply depots between Wagner and Moscow are being destroyed to prevent Wagner refueling.
And there have been rocket strike on areas occupied by Wagner troops, including Russian urban areas.
It is absurd to think this is a false flag.
The theory that it s a false flag is completely is contrary to the overwhelming evidence being released by citizens all over the avenues of approach to Moscow. Live feeds. Aircraft being shot down. Fuel depots on fire.
It is weird to think this if a false flag.
It is like you can’t get you head around the idea of anyone challenging Putin. And rather just believe he is playing 5D chess.
Or the RF/Wagner forces:
A) have had enough and this is cover for retrograde op
B) or they know what is coming…
1) powerplant ‘oops’
2)things are gong to get a little WMD-y up in that b*tch
C) want to ‘save face’ displacing certain Generals that have been less than aligned with ‘the cause’
Anyway you cut this turd, it doth stink and I trust absolutely fucking NONE of this.
Even if taken at face value it is hard to see a positive outcome, so maybe less clapping like trained seals and more anal-cysts is called for, huh champ?
5JC
It doesn’t get much deeper cover than shooting down three Russian helicopters.
thebesig
You guys have seen how Commissar and I have argued against each other in the past. However, on this one topic, I agree with him that this is no false flag operation.
When you have Russian military units attacking Wagner units, and when there is a track record of what happens to people who criticize Putler, you know that Prigozhin’s days are numbered, so is that of those in Wagner.
Prigozhin also understands the nuances of what happens in Russia, corruption, thuggery, etc.
It’s not just the troops. They have tanks, armored vehicles, air defense missiles all kinds of s***. Lots of combat experience and highly motivated. Countries have fallen with less troops.
Prigozhin is actually quite popular. People like his straight talk and jamming it in the eye at Moscow. He Is almost a Trump like figure except he knows what he’s doing with the military.
Whatever the Russian polls might say the war is super unpopular and he has all but promised to end it.
KoB
How many containers of canned sunshine does he have? Best I can tell, despite the RF loses, pootin still has a fairly large number of front line troops that have been held in reserve. Tanks, armored vehicles, and all kinds of s*** are just targets. And let’s just say that pootin is out of disposable cannon fodder and he gets concerned that the Wagner boys are getting too close? Desperate times call for desperate measures and pootin has an assload of tactical canned sunshine. Can Wagner reply in kind? Can he supply his “army” with captured or turned over to him supplies? Repair parts for his vehicles (read targets)?
Bobby Lee (one of the finest Military Minds EVAH) had some highly motivated combat experienced troops. How’d that work out for him? Sitting Bull? Chief Joseph? This list goes on.
Quantity has a quality of its own.
Commissar
Prigozhin Was left with no choice.
He is a psychopath and a thug, but also a survivor.
The strife between his forces and the Ministry of Defense has been boiling for months. Longer.
And the MoD gave Prigozhin the ultimatum that he either had to disband Wagner or integrate it within the Russian military.
When Putin seemed to let the ultimatum stand Prigozhin knew he was doomed if he didn’t act decisively. Once Wagner was under MoD control Prigozhin would be subordinate to Shoigu and would not last long.
It is clear MoD did launch a missile attack on the Wagner rear headquarters area. It was likely an attempt to decapitate Wagner leadership since Wagner had made no efforts to integrate before the looming deadline.
I don’t think Prigozhin intended to depose Putin. He intended to take control of the Ministry of Defense, replace Shoigu, and leave Putin with no option but to accept that.
However, the likely reason the MoD was given the go ahead to force an ultimatum on Prigozhin was because Putin had already determined Prigozhin and Wagner had become an unacceptable threat to his regime.
When Prigozhin captured Rostov-on-don he captured supplies and equipment, and essentially severed Shoigu’s command and control over the Ukraine front.
However, Shoigu escaped. Progozhin hoped to decapitate the MoD command and when that failed his plan failed.
He tried to still negotiate with Putin to accept Progozhin as having command over the Ukrainian front and Russian ground forces.
When Putin backed Shoigu it was a death sentence for Progozhin and left Progozhin with no choice but to march on Moscow.
Commissar
Since the Russian government is exceedingly centralized in Moscow, whoever controls Moscow controls Russia.
But Progozhin would need to capture it quickly.
Progozhin’s 25,000 troops are not enough to capture Moscow without the help of Russian troops.
And given how fast Wagner is advancing on Russia it does appear at least some of RussIa’s military is aligning themselves with Wagner, or at least stepping aside and letting Wagner advance.
Putin is fortifying Moscow. Blocking bridges and key avenues of approach with disabled dump trucks filled with sand, and deploying troops and mines.
However, Putin’s private plane left Moscow and flew to St, Petersburg. Or at least was on vector to St Petersburg before radar lost it and its tracker was shut off.
Lukeshenko has apparently fled to Turkey. So Putin has likely lost Belorussia as an ally. Not that Lukeshenko was worth a shit other than as an additional border to support the Ukraine offensive.
SFC D
“But Progozhin would need to capture it quickly.“
Capturing it is one thing. Holding on to it is quite another matter.
Commissar
Twitter is really the only good source to see what is happening on the ground in Russia right now.
This Reddit sub seems to upload combat footage coming out of Russia as soon as it starts trending on Twitter.
And it is more convenient than trying to navigate through the Twitter noise.
As much as a regime change in RF should worry anyone who doesn’t like to glow in the dark to the nth…
I have a much bigger fear than changing one idiot for another idiot: Poland.
Even if the RF appears to be implosioning they can lash out at strikes against the motherland, real or not. This would play into that sense of patriotism that has stopped all sorts of onslaughts as KoB mentioned.
Poland has been chomping at the bit to get themselves involved with the much-like-civil-war in UKR/RF. I don’t trust the politicians in Poland right now to keep from kicking RF/BRU. Their perceived enemies are down, but not out by a loooong stretch.
Whatever happens (and I have zero fucks to give about who runs this/these circus(es)) will be destabilizing and a lot of people will be dragged out into the streets and shot.
I feel bad about the innocents, both killed and lost.
Blaster
So, I guess now we have to send this bunch billions of taxpayer dollars too. Right? I mean – same cause and all.
Commissar
The Ukraine war has been a bargain for US security.
We spent trillions on readiness for decades over the threat of potential war with the Soviet Union and later Russia.
And Putin has been a menace to US interests. Our international and domestic security interests. A threat to our political stability and democratic institutions. Even directly soliciting economic allies to accelerate the collapse of the US dollar.
In two short years the war in Ukraine degraded Russia from a perceived near peer threat to an utterly collapsed regime with one of the most fractured and degraded militaries among all industrial societies.
It will take Russia at least two decades to recover from the consequences of the Ukraine war and Russia will likely not be a near peer again.
Dollar for dollar the aid to Ukraine has been the best money the US has spent on national security in a more than a half a century.
An absolute bargain.
Blaster
There is no dollar for dollar! Ukraine is and has been a huge money laundering scheme for American and Ukrainian politicians. I doubt even a quarter of the billions went to the people or the troops on the ground.
Hate Trump all you want, but Putin didn’t act until he felt safe to do so. We have all witnessed the Clintons cozy up to him, Obama cozy up to him and Biden play both ends against the middle with Russia and Ukraine. Not a word was said. Then HRC concocts the fake Russian hoax, it’s proven to be fake, and Trump is still blamed for being BFFs with Putin.
This Billions of dollars scheme is pure BS. Taxpayer money being laundered and shifted to politicians private bank accounts, right in our faces and they laugh at us. Meanwhile, our infrastructure is crumbling. i.e. I-95, Detroit water, southern border, Defense Spending cuts, etc. etc.
Let me say this again, I was not a Trump supporter until after he became POTUS and I witnessed his policies in action that were wins for THE PEOPLE of this country. When he could act and wasn’t held back by his own party that had control both sides of congress. I blame the Democrats for most of our mess, but I also blame a good 85-90% of the republicans too! Guess what those democrats and republicans are doing,,,,,????? Making personal financial gains off of those billions of dollars being sent to Ukraine.
To consistently flaunt education and knowledge superior to all others, it seems very gullible to believe this anything other than allowing taxpayer money to find its way into the bank accounts of crooked politicians.
Honor and Courage
I was thinking along the same lines. I also wonder if Wagner Group are setting up a Swiss Bank Account. The Diplomatic experts are supposed to resolve these war’s not create them. Follow the money. I don’t know if the 6.2 Billion from the Pentagon is accurate. If it is Body Bags will be plentiful.
Blaster
It’s a GD shame! It makes me wonder how long the politicos will keep pushing the envelope! There will eventually be a reckoning. I fear for my children and (hopefully, one day,) grandchildren. I’m on the back end of this life, and I’ve (we! The wife and I) have done our best to set them up, but we’re watching our beloved nation turn into a third world $h17 hole, in order to keep from hurting feelings of those that contribute 0% to anything. I hope and pray that we can right our course without bloodshed.
I keep telling myself that at some point, common sense has to take over. PLEASE, PLEASE, common sense take over!!!
Moscow was literally s******* it’s pants. They were digging huge trenches across the highway to stop the advance.
What that means is there isn’t anything between the front lines and Moscow. If the Ukrainians do break through, they could be having breakfast in the Kremlin by the next day.
The real question, is “Where are all the Polish trucks currently parking?”
Ukraine has bupkis for logistics beyond “local”. Poland has its entire fleet of military trucks, and a decent civilian trucking industry.
And theirs mostly work.
Russia would likely be better served by a NATO Ukraine, thus bureaucraticly inept and unlikely to do Jack squat, than an ad-hoc alliance of former victims of the Soviets with no USA saying “whoa”.
