Adults who aren’t current on their COVID-19 vaccine booster doses may have “relatively little remaining protection” against hospitalization compared to those who haven’t been vaccinated at all, suggests a new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The study spanned multiple states and examined more than 85,000 hospitalizations of people with “COVID-like illness.”
Dr. Shana Johnson, a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician in Scottsdale, Arizona, was not involved in the CDC study but reviewed its findings.
The good news, Johnson said, is that the bivalent mRNA vaccine protects against the most severe COVID-19 outcomes, including hospitalization and critical disease (ICU admission and death), Johnson said.
The not-so-good news: The durability or duration of protection was not great, she noted.

Had much the same experience with some kind of flu that didn’t register on normal flu tests in January 2020. 99% sure it was covid before covid was cool. Got the jab. Got the booster. Both under protest as a government employee. Still got Covid. Another booster? The CDC and WHO can just fuck right off!
My 10 year old (@ the time) ended up in children’s hospital in Feb. 2020 with a severe respiratory infection. Had all of the symptoms of COVID before we knew what they were. My wife had the worst case of bronchitis that she has ever had at the same time and me and the 15 year old lost ALL sense of taste and smell(just thought it was weird at the time). Needless to say, I think my whole family had it in Feb. of 2020.
When they made the vaccine political, we didn’t want it. Then, I was FORCED to take it- as a still serving Soldier (Army NG, these days) and as a defense contractor for a full time job. Decided that I’d take it first and then my wife would a week or so later, so that we weren’t both sick at the same time. Finally decided that her and the kids wouldn’t take it. We have had no problems. I hope that I can continue to be here for my family. I don’t trust the CDC, WHO, or Govt!

I got pretty sick back in January 2020, before tests were freely administered. No fever but all the other symptoms were there, and as a Green Suiter who used a van pool to commute, it took a few days to get used to the whole not reporting for duty thing. My DA Civilian supervisors and coworkers sent me home, and often I’d have to take the Metro to the Pentagon and slug home. Before long, it was mostly teleworking, though, at least until the “civil disturbances” made us stand up the 24-hour Joint Operations Center. As a Senior NCO working in a 2-Star Joint command, I got both initial jabs. Didn’t want to rock the boat and being both military and working in DC made compliance pretty much mandatory.
If you’re saying you got covid again after a shot and booster, and based on stuff I’ve read and seen, I’d say you got it again *because* you got the shots, not in spite of them.

Covid was plainly active in China as early as August 2019. The folks who study the usual flu outbreaks monitor imagery of Chinese hospitals. It’s a reliable leading indicator of flu cycle start.

I’d read something earlier this year that someone had started a private registry for “purebloods”. I went and checked out the site, but there were too many hoops, and it was starting to smell like a scam (“send $$$”), so I backed out and continued on with my life. Now, on second (and third, and fourth..) thought, I’m just as glad that I didn’t continue down that path.
As much as it would be tempting to register oneself as pureblood, this smacks too much of a gun registry.

The Sabin oral vaccine for Polio is a weakened live virus, versus the Salk dead virus shot.
If you take the oral vaccine, there is a small chance you will get polio, although usually a relatively mild case.
They quit mandating it when that vaccine incidence was an order of magnitude greater than the risk of wild caught polio.

Sabin doses are way, way cheaper than Salk, and require no skilled personnel beyond “here, drink/eat this”.
But that cheap has a horrific cost, for some unfortunate others. Never of course does that cost bite the ass of the authorities that chose Sabin over Salk.

Ya ALMOST had me thinking that your comment was sarcasm, but the humor just isn’t there.
I got my vax in 2021. I was not protected by it, because it doesn’t stop the virus. There is no such thing as an anti-viral vaccine. You also can’t kill a virus by washing your hands. Wearing a mask is pretty much useless because it would have to be airtight. Social Distancing is pointless because a sneeze can send a virus across a room, cause it to stick to a wall, counter or floor, and if that virus is hardy, it can be passed easily by touch. Ultimately, there is no real way to stop a virus in it’s tracks, no matter who requires a vaccine, who wants me to take one, who takes it, or who doesn’t. And with a virus that has an almost 98% survivability rate, your wish that a man like me to get sick is not wishing much upon me in terms of anything horrible. It’s also rather childish, and unoriginal as far as threatening insults go.

I just saw an article last week about a study that found, paraphrasing: the more china virus shots you get, the weaker your immune system gets and the more likely you are to get not only the china virus, but any number of other illnesses as well.
When forced to in order to keep my job, I got the J&J one and done shot rather than the Pfizer pair. No boosters for me. I’ve always had a strong immune system and I’m just hoping the one shot I got wasn’t enough to weaken it significantly. I guess time will tell.
I never got the boosters. I had to get the initial shots though because of the jerks I work for.
They had “covid days” that were excused days with pay IF you were vaxxed and either got COVID or were exposed to COVID.
If you were unvaxxed like I was at the time, and you got sick or were exposed, you got 10 days no pay, couldn’t use sick time, nor could you use vacation days…. I missed a total of 6 weeks in 2020 because of the company’s BS policy.
