Sheriff confirms remains belong to escapee
Burned remains were found inside a Leake County home after a shootout between law enforcement and the escapee.

LEAKE COUNTY, Miss. Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones posted on twitter identifying the remains recovered from Monday morning’s Leake County shootout.

“The remains recovered in the burned structure in Carthage, MS this morning have been identified as one of the escapees, Dylan Arrington,” Sheriff Jones said.

The escapee that is suspected of murder in Jackson was killed after a house fire and shoot-out with state and local law enforcement.

“The cause of death is under investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations,” said Sheriff Jones.

A fire broke out inside the house during the shootout, but it was not immediately clear how it started, Leake County Sheriff Randy Atkinson said.

Gwinnett homeowner shot by home invaders shoots, kills suspect

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police have identified a 23-year-old man shot to death at a Gwinnett County home as a possible home invasion suspect.

Gwinnett County police said a man went to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound on April 24. He told police that he was involved in a shooting at a home on Mountain Drive.

The victim said there was someone else shot at the home. Police went to the home, where they found Leon Summers, of Stone Mountain, dead.

Detectives said they believe the victim shot Summers in self-defense.
