Amateur MMA fighter, Ross Johnson, charged with death of Air Force’s Dayvon Larry

| April 14, 2023

An argument that began inside the Coyote Ugly Saloon turned deadly after the argument continued into the parking lot. Ross Johnson, an amateur MMA fighter, rushed out towards the altercation and delivered a violent blow to Dayvon Larry’s head. Larry dropped to the ground and did not get back up. The results of an autopsy showed that Larry died of blunt force trauma to the head. Dayvon Larry was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base. Ross Johnson was charged with manslaughter.

From Fox News:

Surveillance footage captured a woman alerting Johnson to the fight between his friend and an unidentified man in the parking lot.

He is seen jumping over the bar’s outdoor patio and delivering the fatal blow to Larry on his way to join the fracas, Panama City Beach police allege in the affidavit.

Larry dropped to the ground while Johnson allegedly turned his ire on the other man, pummeling him and shoving him to the ground.

At some point after the altercation, Johnson appeared to realize that Larry was seriously injured and wrote a woman on Snapchat, “Dude is still not moving.”

Police said he told another friend, “Man, I hit that guy, I laid him out, and I think I killed him.”

Johnson fled the scene in an Uber to the Holiday Inn Resort but saw some cops outside and switched to the Casa Loma Hotel, where police tracked him down April 10, the affidavit alleges.

Fox News and the New York Post provide additional details. Law and Order has additional information including the police report.

Way to go dumbass. You can forget any plans you had before you decided to get involved in someone else’s fight.

Sooner or later, he’s going to come across someone badder than him in lockup and …

Or a group of badasses.

He is going to PYITAP. It’s a good thing for him that he knows how to fight.

No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride…and if it occasionally gets a little heavier than what you had in mind, well…maybe chalk it up to forced consciousness expansion: Tune in, freak out, get beaten. — Hunter S. Thompson

Sometimes ‘a friend’ getting that ‘consciousness expansion’ is deserved, ask me how I know [shortly: I’ve been on both sides of that equation].

Shoulda known better, his strength and skill.

SPoTW Early Bird? Seems like the Airman just happened to be in the wrong place and was not involved in the fight. And dumb ass here just went charging in without knowing what was going on. No matter how long dumb ass sits in prison for his actions, or how sorry he is for what he did, the Airman will still be dead. Sympathies to the family and wing mates.

Yeap this is my neighborhood basically. What we understand so far the poor Airman wasn’t even involved in the altercation.

The guy just sucker punched him from behind, laid him out, then got involved in the altercation HIS buddy was involved in.

As the investigation continues, things can change, but as or right now the Airman was just an innocent bystander.

“Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.”

On the upside, the local DA will probably go all the way with these charges because we have a real live case of “toxic masculinity” (more properly know as ‘ate up with the dumb***).

Army-Air Force Guy

Why couldn’t he done this to A1C Jack Teixeira?

Lack of intelligence?

😂😂😂😂

When I was in last century we had an airman get hit in the head with a sock full of quarters during a road rage incident. He died instantly. Head shots are real bad news.

MCPO USN

Unjustifiable and unnecessary. Dude just trying to show off by hitting an uninvolved and unprepared person. If he really was a skilled fighter, he would have given the airman the opportunity to defend himself. Verdict: Extreme shitbag. Hope he gets it back twentyfold in prison.

MustangCPT

He probably will. He seems to lack impulse control so he’ll probably end up picking a fight with the wrong dude soon after he gets to prison. No matter how tough you are, there’s always someone tougher and prison is full of such individuals who are more than willing to prove it.
