Racism dog whistle blown
You may have read about the mostly peaceful anti-gun protest at the Tennessee Capital last Thursday. A large crowd of mostly peaceful protesters pushed past the police blocking their entrance, flooded the visitor’s gallery, and interrupted the legislative session. (None were shot by any state capital guards – too early to tell if their legislature will label this as an insurrection. Doubtful./s) Three legislators got up and supported the demonstrators – two of them even used a bull horn to help interrupt the session and egg on the demonstrators.
Last Thursday, Johnson (Rep. Gloria Johnson – ed.), along with Reps. Justin Pearson and Justin Jones, interrupted a House session to protest gun violence in the state. Their demonstrations came just days after a shooter opened fire at Nashville’s Covenant School, killing three students and three adult staff members.
At Monday’s meeting, GOP members of the House introduced three nearly identical expulsion resolutions to expel all three from their positions over the disruption, citing the state’s Constitution, which states “Each House may determine the rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two-thirds, expel a member.”
The final vote took place Thursday evening, and Republicans voted out Pearson and Jones.
The Tennessee House voted 72-25 to expel Jones, with Pearson also expelled after a 69-26 vote, according to CNN.
But the motion to expel Johnson, who has been a member of the House for years, failed with a 65-30 vote, falling one vote short of the two-thirds majority required to remove her.
Seems pretty straight-forward, no? The two men used the bullhorn, they were more disruptive…but wait! They’re black and she is a 60 year old white woman (note she has been in the legislature for for years, too.) So it’s racist!!!
It may be noted that there are 75 Republicans, so none of the votes was along strict party lines – on each vote at least one, if not more, Republicans voted against the measures. The two young black legislators were the ones who used the bull-horn…but that doesn’t count. Johnson says she thinks it was racist. Biden condemns it. I’m not opposed to the peaceable protest (although I don’t support their cause either). However, lawmakers are bound by the rules of the house. They wanted to break the rules and grand stand and they got punished. One person got punished differently than the others. That is exactly how life works. I think they should have kicked her ass out too.
The only thing I don’t understand is…. a Capitol Building was assaulted and it isn’t Trumps fault. How is this possible?

Their sign, “Protect Children not guns”? Wonder if these dumbasses thought about the fact that if there had been an armed guard at some of these schools (or officers that had the balls to DO THEIR DAMN JOB), maybe there wouldn’t have been dead children?

Never mind that the shooter was a “transgender” who was having her illness catered to who chose that Parochial School because she KNEW it would be an easy target, it’s ALL the gun’s fault, yeah right! Shit-for-brained moonbats will do anything they can to get attention, we see that day in and out, especially when they think it’ll get them brownie points for pimping their party agenda.
Keep in mind one of the gents was banned from the Capitol in 2019 for assaulting the then Speaker.
Maybe they were just trying “to have a larger conversation” like Karen Ivery!
