Ted Kennedy dead at 77

| August 26, 2009

Mary Jo Kopechne is still dead eight days short of her 29th birthday.

I was taught to not speak ill of the dead, so…..

Why, nine hours after his death is CNN is still running the “BREAKING” headline?

At least it’s getting Michael Jackson off the headlines for a few days. The downside is that I have to listen to idiots blathering about the “Lion of the Senate” for the next week until they shove his ass out on a boat off the Vineyard and set it on fire like some sort of P-town Viking sendoff. Christ, I don’t know which is worse.

UpNorth

I was taught the same, Jonn. However, I agree with Sparky, I’m already sick of the coverage of the “Lion of the Senate”. But, I’m sure it was a warm greeting when he crossed the river.

Claymore

It’s “Lion of the Senate”??? Here I was thinking they were calling him “Liar in the Senate”…mea culpa.

OldTrooper

Mary Jo Kopechne still couldn’t be reached for comment.

Finrod

What the hell does “Lion of the Senate” mean anyway. Was he like an african lion and did allot of sleeping and laying around? I once met him in an elevator in DC, TV did him a favor, the guy looked like total crap in 1981 in person.

classy comments.

NHSparky

Classy comments for a classy guy. Look at the crap he got passed into law: the 1965 immigration bill, the HMO Act of 1973, NCLB, among many others which have only undermined our freedoms, screwed over the middle class in the name of “helping” it, etc. THEN we can get into Mary Jo, who I understand still hasn’t commented on this development. Need I remind you he couldn’t even beat the “malaise” that was Jimmy Carter in 1980? I mean, seriously, if you can’t take out someone with a target on his back at point blank range, just how screwed up are you, really?

Skye

One less liberal bully in the Senate.

good stuff NHSparky….keep showing your hate! When a lefty says this disgusting stuff about a righty its also wrong.

CRaissi

I think CNN is still airing the “breaking news” ticker because the welfare class, his constituency, is just waking up.

Claymore

I wonder if the crew who planned the Wellstone hoop-dee-doo is available? I mean seriously, that was a ‘plane down to earth’ kinda good time there…what…too soon?

NHSparky

Hate? Hardly. Only in your effed up little world does criticism of a liberal equate to hate.

Tell ya what–when you go back to your buddies at the coffee klatch with the pierced everything and tell them not to poke fun at the passing of Novak, Reagan, etc., then you can lecture me, m’kay?

Claymore

People deal with grief in different ways…some people cry…other people craft beautiful tributes…others like to point out that the dearly departed wasn’t exactly a paragon of virtue and left behind a chasm of decay and a legacy of rotting, fetid, garbage for future generations to try and drag themselves out of…I leave it to you to determine where I fall. Pass the Scotch.

Well,

All I know is that, when I read of his death, I went outside for a walk. It was amazing how the air smelled sweeter, the breeze was cooler, the grass looked more green than before, and suddenly, the world didn’t appear to be so gloomy, so hypocritical, so messed up.

Yes, Obama and the Chicago Sycophant Express is still highballing the country into the dirt, but some small amount of weight is lifted of the shoulders of the nation, and there is a faint light of actual hope for our future dawning in the distance.

I think I will take this moment to honor the memory of the oldest Kennedy brother, Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., a naval aviator who was lost during WWII. Although he had piloted 25 missions and was eligable to return home he volunteered to pilot a high explosive (torpex) laden aircraft (modified B-24) over France in an attempt to knock out the V-3 cannon site before it became operational. The aircraft was to be guided to the target and the pilot and co-pilot were to bail out at the last minute. The torpex went off early. Joe Jr. was the Lion of the Kennedy family. Rest in peace.

The Sniper

You’ll have to forgive the diatribe I posted at The Sniper… I guess I’m not as kind to the dead as you are John.

Just out of curiosity – why is he being buried at Arlington?

To keep people from urinating on his grave? Just a thought.

Susan

Could somebody explain to me why Teddy can be buried at Arlington?

Wow, you don’t know shit about me. I happen to be clean-cut, after being out of the service for three years now, I still have my har in accordance with AR 670-1. I don’t hang out at any “coffee klatch”, I guess I would be considered a “socialist” since I use my Government benefits (Chapter 31) to get an education at a University. And I’ve NEVER “poked fun at the passing” of anyone. Lastly I never do something, just because the other side did it.

And you just don’t know shit. You keep proving that with every click on the “Submit Comment” button. Leave the heavy thinking to the grownups, scooter.

Rurik

Lion of the senate? Hmmm. Let’s think about that. The usual description of a lion involves references to “a large and noisy, rapacious predator”, or “a large pussy who lounges around while the female lionesses do all the serious hunting”. Is there any item on that checklist that wouldn’t apply to the Tedster?

Great response! Who doesn’t know shit?
