79-year-old shoots and kills intruder after he’s followed into home, Wisconsin cops say

An armed 79-year-old homeowner fatally shot an alleged home intruder who had followed him home, according to Wisconsin police.The shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, in Elderon, about 70 miles northwest of Green Bay, the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The sheriff’s office said the 79-year-old man was followed as he was coming home from a local business. When he exited his vehicle in the garage, he was stabbed by the intruder, sheriff’s officials said.
The 79-year-old was armed with a gun and he fired one shot at the suspect before the gun was wrested away from him, according to the sheriff.

A man armed with a machete who was barricaded with a child inside a southern California home was shot dead after charging at deputies Tuesday night.The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department told FOX 11 Los Angeles that deputies responded to a home in San Jacinto just before 1 p.m. after a woman reported her boyfriend was armed with the blade and behaving erratically. The woman was able to escape the home safely, but the suspect stopped her from taking her 12-year-old child.
When deputies tried to rescue the child, the suspect allegedly hit one of the deputies in the head with a wooden object before swinging the machete at another deputy.

I’m a bit younger than the 79 year old, but at this point in the spatio-temporal continuum the only reason I’d be going to any store/business in the wee hours of the morning is to get medicine for one of my family members.
Well, I suppose that if there had been a celebration of some sort (wedding, anniversary, etc.) that I’d been attending at said business, I might stay out until 11:00, midnight…
