Questions raised about fatal police shooting in St. Louis
Relatives of a 16-year-old who was fatally shot by St. Louis detectives are disputing the police account of the incident.
Darryl Ross was shot Sunday night. Two detectives said they spotted several people with guns at a gas station and pulled onto the lot. The police report said the detectives — in plain clothes but wearing bulletproof vests labeled “POLICE” — announced themselves as officers.
Police said Ross tried to run but tripped and dropped a pistol. When he reached for the weapon, the detectives shot him, police said.
But Ross’ mother, Jukita Johnson, said she was with her son at the gas station, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. She disputed a police account that the detectives announced themselves as officers. Ross’ uncle, Johnny Parker, said he thinks Ross ran because the officers did not announce themselves and the incident was in an area where gang shootings often occur.
Johnson also denied that her son ever pulled out a gun, saying he had a weapon but it was in his waistband.

I think I see the problem here.
Abilene police: car burglar held at gunpoint, drunk driver crash sends 2 to hospital
A south Abilene man caught a car burglar early Tuesday and held him at gunpoint until police arrived, according to an Abilene Police Department report.
The armed resident’s barking dogs alerted about 4 a.m. to an intruder in a Ford Mustang parked at the curb in the 3300 block of Waverly Avenue. When police arrived, the car burglar stated he planned to steal the vehicle, “or buy it,” the report said.
The suspect also admitted to drinking alcohol prior to the incident, the report said. He was charged with burglary of vehicle and taken to Taylor County Jail.

At least be professional enough to show up to your crime sober. Thanks, Gun Bunny!

Yeah, a LOT of St. Louis gang shootings are perpetrated by bangers wearing Kevlar vests with POLICE emblazoned on them!
Not a fan of the two tone variant bit Kimber makes many options for model. One of them will be in my pocket before the end of the year.
Heh. Noted, Doc.
What did you expect Jukita to say?

“he had a gun, but it was in his waistband”.. perfectly normal / acceptable for a 16 y/o…
That young lad only took off running because he was late to choir practice. The fambly that preys together…
“Nice horse you got there Mister, would you sell it? We’ll give you a good price.”

If one must carry a 9 mm, then let it be a Kimber…or Mr. Browning’s Hi-Power. That Micro 9 would make a nice companion to a Kimber 1911 Model Custom LW.
I have the SS version of the Micro 9 and the .45 and they both kick about the same. The M9 had to go back to the factory twice to iron out a few bugs but after pushing the rear sight to sight it in it is very reliable and accurate. I ordered 3 8 rd mags from Kimber and it fits my big mitts just fine. Topped off with a De Santis half scabbard it’s a good CC rig.
I am in violation of Commandment # 10!
Me: Kimber 1911 Custom II .45 ACP
Mrs. Mick: Kimber 1911 Stainless Ultra Carry II .45 ACP
Is that a list of what you HAVE?
Or a list of what you WANT?
I have the older Stainless Kimber Ultra Carry, .45ACP.
Does the Ultra Carry II come with the L shaped piece of spring steel to capture the recoil spring when field stripping like mine has. Don’t know if I asked you or someone else on TAH. Some things I remember and some things I don’t.
Forgot to mention to everyone to now use cash if possible when going into a gun shop instead of a credit card which will now show coded numbers or letters so the new political arm of the new 4th Reich 1000 year rule can have the names of the buyers.
Still waiting for Springfield to (re)release the SA35.
Apparently a first (small) batch was released & quickly sold out.
THen for some reason Springfield halted production/release/sales of the SA35.
Haven’t heard/read anything definitive on why the halt, what’s being done, and when the (re)release.
Anyone heard/read anything on this?
Yeah…..Jukita vs St Louis po-po.
Any pics from police body cams? Nearby security cams?
Without pics, it comes down to “he said, she said”.
And I don’t have the time to look into the background of both to determine who I believe more.
The Abilene man should have held the car thief for the police…..with a hole in him. Just to guarantee that the thief doesn’t go anywhere quickly.
Didn’t have to be anywhere vital. The hand. Or maybe the foot. To put a crimp in Mr Thief’s future light-fingered endeavors.
Dumb Chuck!

“Johnson also denied that her son ever pulled out a gun, saying he had a weapon but it was in his waistband.”
So, that makes it okay that your SIXTEEN YEAR OLD son had a gun on him…he had it in his waistband, and didn’t pull it out.
First of all, MOM, he’s not supposed to have a gun on him…in his waistband or anywhere else.
Second; the police said he tripped as he started to run, and the gun fell out on the ground.
Third; he made the mistake of reaching for it, and this is just a guess here, probably after the officers told him not to.
