(Reuters) -Texas Democrat Beto O’Rourke interrupted state officials holding a news conference on Wednesday about the mass shooting that killed 19 children and two teachers at an elementary school, shouting, “You are doing nothing!”
O’Rourke, a former congressman who is running for governor of Texas against Republican Greg Abbott, began yelling after Abbott outlined mental health resources available to those affected by the shooting in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday.
“This is totally predictable,” O’Rourke said, accusing Abbott and other Republican leaders of not doing enough to prevent such shootings.
O’Rourke famously called for a ban on assault-style rifles during his brief 2020 presidential run, saying at a televised debate, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15.”
That astonishing demonstration of shit-baggery will not soon be forgotten. Right, President Biden?

Well, here’s a surprise. Steve Inskeep, of the leftest National Public Radio, wanted a voice for an anti-gun screed on his show. So instead of inviting the Congressman from the district that includes the city of Uvalde (the 23rd District, represented by Tony Gonzales, a Republican), Steve Inskeep went “a few miles east” (actually, 75 miles outside the 23rd District) to the leftest blue thinking 20th District Congressman: Joaquin Castro.
That district consists of a tight circle of Democrats in downtown San Antonio.
And so, of course, Rep. Castro (how appropriate a name) opined that “universal background checks” were needed. The fact a background check would not have stopped the shooting is, of course, irrelevant.
When (Republican) Texas Lt Gov. Patrick said: “I want more security in schools” — which WOULD have stopped the killing — it was dismissed by Castro: “That’s a deflection and a copout.”
If Inskeep had asked a Uvalde area Hispanic about Beto’s gun seizure policy, he would likely have received a response like, “Ven y llévatelas,” the Spanish equivalent of molon labe.
Their idea of background checks on private sales/transfers of firearms is merely an effort to create more burdens and expenses for law-abiding gun owners. Every state that has enacted this charges fees on each gun even though two or more guns are transferred to the new owner with a single check. Moreover, this lunatic passed a background check and apparently filled out all the paperwork to legally buy the two rifles. Finally, people bent on mass murder are not concerned about gun control laws, just like all other gun criminals.
What I want to know is where this unemployed dirtbag dropout acquired the $3K that these two rifles, a handgun and about 370 rounds of ammo cost.

You just described my high school. I’d say that during hunting season (deer-elk-duck-goose) there’d be around 50 rifles or shotguns in the parking lot. In window racks. Unlocked. And not a single shooting.
