Robert Chiroux to TAH readers

| July 10, 2009

The following is from an email that Matthis Chiroux’s father, Robert Chiroux, sent us this morning asking that I post it in order to directly address the porqueria (as my wife would call it) that Matthis has been spreading around the internet lately. Robert assures me that this message will appear in local Alabama papers as well. But, as everyone knows, TAH is your first stop for Matthis Chiroux news.

It is time to close the book on Matthis’ raid on Auburn. He was able to return to Auburn briefly enough to be in and out before the authorities realized he was there; he likely got to conjugate with his 50+ year old girlfriend who just relocated back to Auburn, he likely got to hang out with his drug buddies on McKinley St. and probably got high, et al, with them; he got to preach in a church while being a professed atheist, probably even got them to give him money and possibly even some fawned on him as some kind of modern day prophet (something he seems to soak up like fresh gauze on pus); he got lots of media coverage and implied suggestions he should run for office; and lastly once again convinced a lot of well meaning anti-war people that he is their hero.

My son has come full circle. He returned to the place he became what he was and become again. But there is a big difference now. I have lost patience and broken with him. He knows I will follow his activities and constantly chip away at his contrived credibility. I will be right there, unrelenting, until his 15 minutes of rock star heaven are over. He will alternate between trying to ignore me, lashing out at me and feigned mock forgiveness, all of which he has done recently.

Concerning lashing out Matthis has accused me of abusing him as a child. The facts are he tried this when he was in Eighth Grade and charmed a nice young lady at the local child welfare office who subjected me to a witch hunt. It got so bad the Lee County District Attorney called a meeting which included the enlightened and informed pastor of the rather massive Lakeview Baptist Church who’s youth pastor had bought into Matthis’, lawyers, parents and interested parties and put an end to it. It was determined that Matthis’ accusations were “unfounded”. That is the rest of the story. Matthis has just dredged this up again hoping I would be intimidated to keep quiet.

A few days ago I received a nice post from Matthis telling me he forgives me. That’s very sweet, thank you Matthis.

Many parents have had this experience and years later wished they had done something sooner. I am taking action, speaking out and will continue to do so. I have no interest in tangling with the anti-war folks; healthy debate and peaceful protest are part and parcel of what makes this country outstanding. We only have to look at the streets of Iran to see the fate of a nation and its people when that liberty is squelched. In my opinion a bad day in The United States of America is a very good day on planet Earth.

In my opinion Matthis will suck up to anyone that will give him money and with women whoever will “fulfill his needs”. The blogosphere is replete with old friends and girlfriends scorched by his passing anonymously, and in some cases openly, denouncing his faux sincerity to those who will listen. In time the cumulative effect will take its toll and Matthis will move on, get educated and join the society of productive citizens or he will crash and burn. I love my son and hope for the best.

Rob Chiroux

Rob says he’s tired of seeing the screen capture of the YouTube video taken in front of the IVAW secret tree house, so he sent me this picture of them together in Germany right before Matthis was discharged the first time in May of 2007.

Mr.Robert Chiroux, you Sir, are a true gentleman and for what it’s worth, do not deserve the hand you have been dealt by fate. You have our deepest sympathies.

brown neck gaitor

I can only imagine this man’s pain.

geo

As I said before..the kid I could care less about but the old man seems to be someone I most assuredly would buy a beer and with whom I would enjoy a real conversation.

Mr. Chiroux I am totally sorry for your dumb ass son’s actions. I agree with AG that you “do not deserve the hand you have been dealt by fate. You have our deepest sympathies.”

Thanks for the post.

Wow. Mr. Chiroux, you have my respect and prayers, and know that whatever Matthews faults, it was not your love or your manner of bringing him up which inflicted this upon him. His faults are his own, not yours.

TSO

Amen.

Mary

Hugs Mr. Chiroux, you are a good man.

I am going to keep your family in my prayers.

Shipmate, I understand full well the difficulties of parenting. You have done more than was expected, and especially don’t deserve to be playing this hand.

The beer is on me if we ever meet.

respects,

Jane

Why don’t the two of you “duke it out” on the front lawn like the old days? Isn’t that what fathers and sons do? Forgive me, I do not condone Matthis’s actions or his manner of “getting the word out”. I feel his effectiveness has run its course. The whole Hofstra incident, the press release and demands placed on the moderator of the last presidential debate turned my stomach. I didn’t want to be associated with people who made such poor descisions. Since then I realized being heard could never have been the real intention of the since deemed “Hempstead 15” with a letter such as that one. The press release began as such: PRESS RELEASE: Iraq/Afghanistan Veterans to Candidates: Hear us out at the final debate. HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) will lead non-violent demonstrations at Hofstra University prior to the final presidential debate Oct. 15 to demand two IVAW members be allowed to ask each candidate one question. Should IVAW’s demands not be met in full by 7 p.m., members of the organization are willing to risk arrest by entering the debate to have their voices heard by the candidates. Would you allow such a group in to speak? They don’t know you from Adam but I’m sure DEMANDING will work. To me, the group sounds more like terrorists themselves (do not get me wrong, I am not calling them such) and the risk of actually allowing them into the debate becomes not one of “perhaps they will say something controversial” but one of if granted the right into the debate they are basically giving a carte blanche on all actions taken by this group because they allowed a group of individuals to INTIMIDATE them into opening their doors. Matthis wrote this press release and it is now clear to me , through his subsequent actions since, his intentions are not to actually work with anyone but to always work against in what he perceives as the best route to stay in the spotlight. I would venture to say he was probably a limelight… Read more »

Go with God, Jane. Thank you for your service.

That incident was pretty disgraceful. Attempting to illegally gain entry to a secure facility, and then acting like victims when the police use force to prevent that illegal entry. Some people in IVAW live in an alternate universe.

Mr. Chiroux,
You have obviously learned to lead by example. I feel sorry that your son didn’t pay attention. Like you said, hope for the best.
Whatever happened isn’t your fault.
All the best.

For Mr. Robert Chiroux –

Please allow me to salute you and pay my respects to you.
I know the kind of pain when an adult child dishonors his or her father; and I hope, in retrospect, that our harsh words for him here, have not further wounded YOU in any way. If so, please excuse us, as no one intended such a thing.
You and the rest of your family have my respect, and you will certainly be in my family’s prayers.

Son of Chesty

Mr. Chiroux must be a saint.

Old Tanker

Mr. Chiroux, I cannot believe the incredibly hard place you have been put in. Good Luck sir, my heart goes out to you.

Frankly Opinionated

My brother in law and I were lamenting the outcome of two of our sons, and I was offered his profound observation. He said: “They have had charge of their lives for more years than we did. What they’ve morphed into is of their own doing, and we can only enjoy that we did our best to show them the right way.”.
My best to Mr Chiroux Sr. He is a patriot.

Matthis

Seriously odd words from a man who used to carry me around by the throat as a child and throw me into walls. But I am serious, Dad. I forgive you. And I’m sure C, who’s never been my GF or my lover, would too. Sleep well.

FreeBirdNavyBrat

Again, I ask… do you forgive the Filipino woman you felt you ‘raped’, too? How about the sincere people that donated money to your ‘legal defense fund’? Cut the con, Matthis. Nobody’s buying what you’re selling anymore.

Your dad is obviously a fine and decent person. Do us all a favor. Change your name. Move to the Congo. I’m sure the warlords will recognize your obvious sincerity and be willing to sit down and discuss your views. Don’t forget your picket signs!

Rob Chiroux

Shortly before Matthis was given the choice of prison or service he boasted openly that he was sleeping with a 50+ year old Auburn professor, and her daughter. On further consideration it is entirely possible this is yet another of the overflowing cesspool of lies and deceit that have come from “The Mouth of Matthis” over the years. That being the case the lady in question is due an apology, from Matthis.

As for the rest of Matthis’ spew notice the continuing clear pattern of lashing out followed by mock forgiveness all wrapped in condescension. This along with predatory sexual behavior, narcissism and chemical abuse are classic symptoms of common sociopathic behavior. Although it is not my field to make a diagnosis there are some conclusions in life that can be made a priori, such as “The stove eye is glowing red; it will burn you.” I would not be surprised if this diagnosis has already been well documented, but sealed in Matthis’ extensive juvenile private and state mandated counseling files. Matthis,
As I’ve already stated in the Opelika-Auburn News( Your HOMETOWN newspaper)you sir are charleton and skunk of the first order. You should be tarred and featherd then horse whipped. I have the tar and the feathers. So why don’t you bring your lying,s–t talking mouth out to Beauregard Alabama for a party. It will be so much FUN, I promise!

Matthis

I’m serious about forgiveness. It is a most powerful force in the universe and lights my path even through these dark-hearted attacks.

As with every betrayal that lurks beneath foul waters, my will welcomes all opportunities to forgive. From forgiveness springs hope in all forms. I welcome persecution and praise with an equally joyful heart.

I fear neither lies nor truth, but resign myself to myself in the spirit of Self-Reliance. I am but a man, but a man I will be. And all men have fathers, and all men should love and forgive them.

Matthis Chiroux….Thank you for taking a stand for real freedom …all the loud mouths on this form should be in Iraq themselves instead of castigating you for telling the truth… the military is a big business and the pawns used to make the money for the industrial defense complex are too damn stupid to understand that they are fight for profit not for freedom… not one Iraqi was among those who took part in the staged 911 attack on the WTC and Pentagon… but the morons among us were lied into thinking Iraq had something to do with 911… what a crock… no one has a right to criticize you especially the loud mouth forum monger who are not themselves in the fight… anyone speaking out against the holy military is tarred and feathered.. never mind the millions of innocent Iraqis and 10’s of thousand of Afghan’s who have been murdered by the US military.. I stand with you 100% …you served your country and deserve ever benefit becoming a veteran of the US military ….keep speaking out and let the redrooster’s and his types choke on their own venom.

FREEDOM is not killing to steal another countries natural resources…

************************************************************

Some moron said that the attack on Iraqi was about WMD…if the USA had not been sure Saddam did not have WMD’s they would not have attacked other wise that bad man that Reagan kiss up to would have used them.

You people make me sick!

“all the loud mouths on this form should be in Iraq themselves instead of castigating you for telling the truth”

Just came back from Iraq a week ago. While I think that we should have worried about Afghanistan first, I think that we have made things better there in Iraq. Also how does a “6 day tour” on the fob count as serving? Or refusing lawful orders?

Also the majority of civilians that have been killed have been done by the enemy. Those that do murder in Iraq get punished.

Also I would like to know how you can claim who has been deployed or seen combat in this war on this site?

JuniorAG

“all the loud mouths on this form should be in Iraq themselves instead of castigating you for telling the truth”

I guess my dissenting opinion doesn’t count, never been to Iraq, just Afghanistan twice and it looks like the unit I could be deploying with next summer is going to the ‘Ghan, so I’ll just shut my mouth.

“FREEDOM is not killing to steal another countries natural resources…”

We are killing terrorists to keep them from killing us. I disagree with the Iraq u-turn, but the whole “we’re taking their stuff” is bunk. The Iraqis are hiring Iranian and Chinese firms to rebuild their infrastructure. If we were colonizing them, it would be done solely by U.S. corporations.

“I’m serious about forgiveness. It is a most powerful force in the universe and lights my effervescent bong. As with every betrayal that lurks beneath foul waters, my betrayal proves me worthy to swim with turds in a Fort Bragg latrine.
I fear neither lies nor truth because my drug use has hindered my ability to distinguish between the two of them, but resign myself to myself in the spirit of reliance on suckers at churches I can fleece, and girlfriends I can exploit financially. I am but a drug damaged charlatan, but a looser I will be. And all men have fathers, and I am not worthy of mine and have shamed my family name.”

Fixed it for ya, Matthis!!

Great job of editing Junior!

Matthis ought to go get a job in the White House. He’d fit right in with the con artists & scum residing there now.

Beacon, give it up. Matthis is a coward & a jerk. If he does happen to show up, send him on to Waverly when you get through with him. The hubby & I will be happy to patch him up. (wink)

God bless America!

FreeBirdNavyBrat

JuniorAG: you’re hilarious. I like your version better. Way more believable.

And Beacon and Americangenie: I’ll bring the first aid kit and the beer, and we’ll have ourselves a party.

FREEDOM is not killing to steal another countries natural resources…

Well, I suppose it IS possible that to some folks jihadists and terrorist shitbags might be considered “natural resources”.

Proud American

Matthis Chiroux is nothing more than a coward and a snake..lies upon lies…did poor baby Matthis not get enough of mommy’s milk….Matthis and his girlfriend dorake need to just shut it….Nuff said.

Stacey

Hey Matthis… Before I get to the purpose of my letter, I wanted to reminisce about our time in high school. You were in the band and definitely weren’t the most popular guy in high school. I remember my sister, Lindsay, and I defending you when others would make fun of you. I respected you for making it through that time and growing to be a tall, strong, intelligent, respectable man clearly capable of handily taking down any and every one of those people that teased and tormented you; but, you didn’t because you were BETTER than that. I got so excited when my sister said she heard from you, and when I saw the pictures of you, I was amazed at what a handsome man you had become. I also gained even more respect when I heard you had joined the military. At 18, I married a military man, and lived at Fort Bragg, NC, for 3 1/2 years as a military spouse. I went through 2 deployments with my ex husband, had a child while he was on the second deployment all alone, but comforted by the knowledge that one day my son would understand his father’s absence during the first month of his life was not by choice, but because he had to do the job he was trained to do as a soldier in the United States Army, and obeying (one of our general orders) any orders given to him, and carry out his obligation to this country’s military. When he got out, we moved back to Alabama. He was considering going back into the military, but then decided against it. He said he didn’t want to miss out on any more of this son’s life than he already had. Fair enough, he served his time. It was then I decided I wanted my time too. Not because I wanted to miss out on any of my son’s life, but because I had seen it from one side, and wanted to see it from the other. I respect anyone that joins the military, especially during times… Read more »

You are a credit to Auburn, to Alabama, and the United States of America. I salute you! WAR EAGLE!!!!

It’s easy to write harmful words, isn’t it – could you say the same in person? I’ve had many intellectual conversations with Matthis and from those, I’ve deducted that he is a good person. For his own Father to write such horrible things about his kin, is a disgrace, and it’s obvious he hates his own child — pretty sick. I thank the L-rd that I don’t have such a disgusting parent figure, if only Matthis was just as lucky. I’m also glad that I don’t have so-called-friends like Stacey who attempt to harm another with horrific words, simply because she doesn’t agree with his opinion (free speech). Both of you should be ashamed.
