Hagerstown man shot after firing on deputy, sheriff’s office says

Mary Grace Keller and Patrick Kernan, The Frederick News-Post, Md.
A Hagerstown man who allegedly fired at a sheriff’s deputy during an attempted traffic stop was shot when the deputy returned fire early Friday morning, Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins said during a press conference Friday morning.

Lookman-Khalil Abolajo Bello, 28, of Hagerstown, was shot approximately three times after opening fire on a sheriff’s deputy at the culmination of a foot pursuit, Jenkins said.

According to Jenkins, a deputy tried to pull over a vehicle at about 2:45 a.m. for speeding and suspected driving under the influence on Interstate 270 and Md. 85, but the driver, later identified as Bello, allegedly refused to stop.

The driver, whom Jenkins identified as Bello, reportedly bailed out of his vehicle in the Kingsbrook Community area, and a foot pursuit began. The chase ended in the area of the 6900 block of Rooks Court, at which point the suspect allegedly started firing at the deputy, who returned fire and wounded the suspect. The deputy, who was not identified, was uninjured, Jenkins said.

Man, 21, killed in shooting involving Dewey Beach officer early Saturday

Hannah Edelman, Yusra Asif and Brittany Horn, Delaware News Journal
On Saturday afternoon, The Starboard restaurant at Dewey Beach was a sea of green. Hundreds crowded inside in their St. Patrick’s Day best, beers in hand, as music thumped out onto the street. A line of hopeful entrants waited outside, a few of them lucky enough to skip to the VIP entrance. The rest lined the block – covered in a festive green carpet – and stretched around the corner onto Saulsbury Street.

Some of them traded rumors about the police activity in the area early that morning; but for the most part, no one spared a second glance at the spot where a Dewey Police officer reportedly shot a 21-year-old man from Milford after chasing him into an alleyway. The man later died, Delaware State Police reported.

Residents of Saulsbury Street said they weren’t surprised by the violence. They described it as a “rough part of town” where police activity is “not unusual.” According to Delaware Online/The News Journal’s gun violence database, there had not been a shooting in Dewey Beach in at least five years.

The “journalists” forgot to start with “Once upon a time…” Thanks for the links, Gun Bunny.

There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible to live without breaking laws. — AYN RAND

For sure. Keep your hands to yourself. Or you’ll end up right back where you came from, that swamp behind me. Only deeper. And permanently.

You’re right! I did like it…a lot! Two (2) DRTs with a WRT needing a spin of the Ol’ Whiz Wheel. Claw Daddy, are you on the net today? Bring it!

“You gonna draw them pistols or whistle Dixie?” Them damyankys woulda been better off if they hada whistled Dixie. “A lively tune” and a favorite of Ol’ Abe. Decent write up of Colt’s Dragoon, but “Batya” needs to do a little more research on ALL of the causes of the War to Prevent Yankee Aggression. Jus’ sayin’. The Confederate Constitution was a near exact duplicate of the US one, and Lincoln made many violations of USC.

My 1ST Editions of Ms Rand’s brilliant writings ended up with the final former Mrs, along with my repro Colt Dragoon, a Pocket Police, and S&W Model 10. More lies she made to the court. SKRUNT! I’m living very well now.

Today’s Ms Thang? Good Gawd I reckon! HONEY HUSH! Prolly THE most erotic drop dead gorgeous EVAH! No stamps or hardware. I want one! That one! The sultry one!

Notice that the ironware on today’s green garbed Ms Thang’s thigh appears to be a 1911 Commander or Officer’s Model. Make, model, and caliber unknown, but she carries it very well.
But Gun Bunny appears to have been so enthralled by the thigh of the lovely green garbed Ms Thang as to have overlooked all that. (and I can’t say as I blame him, it took me several minutes of looking to see past the lady’s lovely leg)

Nope, I didn’t overlook that, Tox. As I was overlooking the entire package, I wuz thinking Commander, in the caliber that God and His Most Saintly JMB (HBHN) intended. A gift from God like her would NOT be have time for half measures. My rant in re “Batya” comment on the Constitution burned thru too many of the available characters. He needs to expand his study of that time frame.

Speaking of the Constitution, I’m sure that there are a number of the Miscreanted d’weeded Deplorables amongst us that would be willing to repeal the 13th A just so they could become Ms Thang’s personal slave.

Mitchell advanced toward the deputy armed with a knife and attacked the deputy. Didn’t the Deputy ever hear of the 21 foot rule.

David

They should rightfully investigate that Hutch County case – the cop who allowed someone with a knife close enough to wound him repeatedly before firing needs some serious remedial training.

jeff LPH 3 63-66

Like the 21 foot rule I mentioned earlier.

I really dig that nice looking Chick in the above pic. I bet that pic was taken on March 17th St. Paddy’s Day.

That is a nice looking Third Model Colt Dragoon in the first pic above. You have to handle one before you realize what a massive, heavy handgun it is. I have a Second Model Colt repo with a square backed trigger guard.

Do thigh holsters really work? Seems to me they would start dropping down, if you move at all.

Not to mention they bang on desks and while getting in and out of vehicles.
