Bullets Fly Inside Philly Corner Store; Clerk, Gunman Hurt in Shootout
Dan Stamm
A worker and an armed robber were hurt in a shootout inside a Philadelphia corner store early Tuesday morning where the store manager’s dog also intervened. The shootout took place shortly before 4 a.m. inside the corner smoke shop at Torresdale and Cheltenham avenues in the Wissinoming neighborhood, Philadelphia police said.
Police officers and medics arrived to find a 32-year-old woman bleeding from at least four gunshot wounds to her upper thigh and hip, police said. She was rushed to the hospital where she was listed in critical condition. She was later released from the hospital.
In-store surveillance cameras captured the entire shootout.
The woman was working behind the counter at the store, sitting on a chair and speaking to the manager when two armed men burst in and announced a robbery, police said and video shows. The manager said the men said “don’t move.”
However, the manager’s dog, named Bullet, jumped on the gunman, temporarily distracting him. The store employee then pulled out a gun and a shootout began between her and at least one of the would-be thieves.
About 45 minutes after the shootout, a man matching the description of one of the gunmen showed up at the hospital. He was identified as one of the armed robbers, police said.

Wanted man shot by police after throwing bricks, threatening them with blow torch
A wanted man has been taken to the hospital for treatment after he was shot by police after throwing cement bricks at officers and threatening them with a blow torch, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office.
The incident happened at around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the 1400 block of Union Grove Road in East Earl Township.
Officials say members of the United States Marshals’ Eastern District Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force were serving multiple warrants on 38-year-old Zachary Gilbaugh, who was wanted for charges including burglary, stalking, terroristic threats, and simple assault.
When members of that task force attempted to take Gilbaugh into custody he began to throw cement bricks at officers, so officers used stun guns in an attempt to subdue him, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
The 38-year-old subject then reportedly threatened officers with a blow torch, got into a vehicle, and began driving in the direction of one of the officers.

FIRST!
“However, the manager’s dog, named Bullet, jumped on the gunman, temporarily distracting him.”
Good dog! It doesn’t matter whether it is a German Shepherd, a Belgian Malinois, or a French Poodle, your dog is one of your weapons.
Give him some mouthwash to clean the mess out, and a pat on the head.
Blowtorch? Are you sure that this individual is not the dentist for a proud but humble woman owned business that sells software to the federal government formerly located in Bethesda Maryland?
I wonder how many people actually know what a “Blowtorch” is.I haven’t seen one in 30 years. Propane torches have pretty much caused the blowtorch to move into obscurity. I know them well, used many in my younger years. Filled with diesel fuel and pumped full of pressure they were the best thing we had in that genre “back in the day”.
This is a Blowtorch:
I guess we need to add “cement bricks” and “blowtorch”, right below “knives”, to the list of Things You Don’t Bring To A Gun Fight”.
Yep, but I would like to know the definition of “Cement Brick”.
I know of Concrete blocks, (usually 16 inches long), and of bricks, made of clay, (usually around 8 inches long), but I have yet to see a “Cement Brick”. I suppose that the “Cubicle Workers” know what they are though, I am only a lowly worker who has not learned all of their vernacular.
Pavers, for making walkways.
I’ve also seen down in Arizona, houses made of what was called “slump block”. Same material as cinder block, but not hollow core, more like a 12″x12″x6″ paver. (dimensions subject to memory leakage)
Maybe if the perp had of bit the bullet and got a real job, he wouldn’t have been bitten by a bullet, or by Bullet. The more I learn about people, the more I love my dog(s). Nothing like having a fur missile as a backup to a primary weapon.
Do believe that Ol’ Zach is a few bricks shy of a load. His new career can be counting all of the other bricks in the wall.
