Your parents are in the military? You are privileged!
One of the academic activities “played” in the Fairfax County Public School system is “privilege bingo”. Kids look at the “bingo card” and identify the traits that they have. For each of the squares that apply to them, they get “points”. One of the privilege items was “Military Kid.”
From the Daily Wire:
It also says one has “privilege” if they are a “Military Kid,” drawing shock from parents who pointed out that children of military members must move away from their friends constantly, not see one of their parents for months on end, potentially deal with post-traumatic stress disorder, and risk becoming orphans.
Parents who complained received a note from Assistant Superintendent Douglas A. Tyson that said:
The screen shot you reference comes from an approved FCPS English Curriculum lesson that is centered around students selecting a “choice” test and examining in detail the author’s perspective on a wide-range [sic] of issues. Students are asked, in the lesson, to read critically and think critically about the author’s perspective on several fronts including the author’s privilege that may or may not be present in the work. Students are then asked independently and self reflectively to juxtapose their thoughts regarding any perceived privilege they think they may have and how they would potentially rewrite portions of the text. Students are not asked or required to report out their self-reflections. This lesson is an adept vehicle to push student thinking to challenge the author’s thoughts/conclusions and to sharpen their ability to critically read selected texts.
A spokeswoman for the district did not immediately return a request for comment from The Daily Wire.
Fairfax County, based near the Pentagon, has a large number of military families. It collects supplemental funding for educating military families, but many refused to turn in the form giving them the extra cash this year because of perceived derision of those serving their country or because of frustration with other failures of the school system, parents said.
In September, school board member Abrar Omeish, whose father was on the board of the mosque attended by 9/11 hijackers and hired as imam a top Al-Qaeda operative, forcefully opposed a resolution honoring the victims of the attacks on their 20th anniversary. A photo also showed her without her hand over her heart during the pledge of allegiance.

Back circa 2008 in college we had a guest speaker from the NAACP come in for a political science seminar. She proclaimed that anyone on an academic scholarship or who received/used the G.I. Bill was a case of affirmative action.
That was her defense for racially based affirmative action. Privately, my professor (an Army vet who was a guard at the Berlin Wall, 1972-74) strongly disagreed with her assertion.
When I read this it made me want to hurt someone…in my head ONLY!!!
I’m glad it’s getting attention and traction.
Edit left this off.
HEY Fairfax County Public School system…
I hope the new governor bends you guys over.
🤬🖕🖕🖕🖕
Yup! And drives it in dry!
…with knobs on…
Hmmm, not sure how much privilege I pulled from the alcoholic sonofabitch Marine with PTSD from Vietnam who ran off with his girlfriend when I when I was in my early teens dad. It must have been loads though. When he was sober he could put five or six words together like; “Fetch me another bottle boy”. Words like that were an inspiration that led me through life.
Because I see as a white, able bodied, male, native English speaker (for the diagonal win) I live a life of ease and luxury.
I’m disappointed I can’t claim a full card BINGO.
I’M DISADVANTAGED/MARGINALIZED!!!
GIB MONIES!!! CHOP CHOP!!!

Free Sh*t!
In my left-leaning high school we read that Beloved book. Awful. Ever since then I’ve gotten a bad taste in my mouth about all this identity politick, especially in primary public schools.
I get it stuff had been bad, but there is good pieces on historical ills without resulting to crap like this. (F. Douglas?!)
Wounds don’t heal unless you let them ‘lone, and iffn you gotta psychological need to pick ’em you’re gonna halfta walk that road by yo’selves.
Having a “free space” is itself the height of privilege.
They missed that one. They should have just called it, “Safe Space”.
Shameless 2A plug:
Yep, there’s a lot of jealous fuckers out there upset they weren’t born a dirt poor white guy without food security or electricity at times to parents who didn’t finish high school…
I was able to use my white privilege card and have my Uncle Sam take care of me…then started a business, sold a business, ran other people’s businesses worked 60-80 hours a week and find a few bucks along the way…
Now, former “friends” from years ago want to tell me all about the evils of capitalism…I have noticed that everyone of them that hates capitalism isn’t at all good at it…I’ve noticed not one of them has ever taken a risk in their lives…they’ve never had to wonder if that second mortgage might be the one that destroys their family futures while making sure employees get paid…they only see the guy with the sailboat now…living comfortable on the water on weekends while still working his ass off during the week…
Those who complain the loudest often had the most privilege when they were young, kids whose parents put them through college, bought them cars, and still they complain today…
Yes some of us were lucky, my parents were married, I was white, I was a male, and I wasn’t a lazy, frightened little bitch.
Some folks have privilege to some extent, but in the end the best part about this nation is even when you don’t have much in the way of privilege you still can take a risk and start your own business, your own path….
Or you can sit around and fucking cry that someone else should step in and make your life better for you…good luck with that option.
“Those who complain the loudest often had the most privilege when they were young, kids whose parents put them through college, bought them cars, and still they complain today…”
I’ve seen that myself and said meatheads don’t contribute worth a damn while demanding more from others who work and produce far more than they do!
Testify, My Brother from another Mother! BTDT…well…’cept for the sailboat. More into pontoons…and fishing.
Which do we take back FIRST (ht 2 CW), the schools or the Country?
So I hit 20 out of 25, that’s counting the “free space”. Was I privileged as a kid? Yes, if you consider my depression-era parents busting their ass to ensure their kids grew up better off than they did to be privilege. I got news for you, snowflakes. You keep using that word “privilege”. I do not think it means what you think it means. Privileges are earned. What you seek is entitlement and free shit. You can thank your progressive-liberal masters for creating that attitude. Enjoy your servitude, because you are wholly owned, bought and paid for.
Wow, I covered the entire board, except for being a military kid and parents who went to college. Who knew that all that white privilege got me my triple tabs and the privilege of humping a rifle and a rucksack in the jungle covered mountains of the Viet of the Nam.
I got 17 out 25.
I feel very privileged.
After all, I became an American citizen and a US Soldier. Nothing in the world can top that.
You EARNED every damn bit of that, Joe. Nobody gave it to you.
I heard about it last night on NewsMax. Never had this stuff taught to me while attending grade school, Junior High School, High School and DooWopp University and that’s the fact Jack. no what I mean jellybean.
Plus, a more modern take for liberals:
My mother’s headstone in the National Cemetery looks just like those and happens to be adjacent to my father’s.
Wait, I thought being a military kid was an “at risk” factor for moving around a lot for touchy-feely liberals… could they make up their minds?

Military kid privilege is Christmas 1967. Dad’s flying B-52 missions in Vietnam, I have one uncle flying pararescue Jolly Greens, another flying minesweeping helo’s off the coast, and my brother-in-law on an LST . Yeah. Privilege.
I still have a copy of the telegram that notified him that his second child and first son was born while he was on a six month TAD to NAS Key West. His then pregnant wife had been forced to vacate military quarter when he got sent there and have to move in with her parents in upstate NY where I was born.
Christmas 1970 while my Dad was enjoying Danang I got to fly in an airplane for the first time. This was in the days before airline deregulation so we got to fly from Charleston to Jacksonville, to Panama City to Pensacola to visit family for Christmas. If not for that my first time would have been an orientation flight on a C-141A at Charleston AFB six years later.
Christmas 1972, my first: Dad was about halfway through a one-year deployment to Thailand, loading ammo on Thuds which then flew into North Vietnam for a fun little game called “Wild Weasel.”
Some privilege.
I just remembered my worst Christmas. 1966. It’s early December, dad’s just coming in the door from a polar orbit mission out of March AFB, been gone for like three days. 4 year old me runs up, saying “Where’d you fly, daddy?” He says “North pole. Bombed Santa Claus”. I was absolutely sure Christmas was gone forever. Damn near put me into therapy.
Your fucking Dad. 🤣😂😅🥲😭😆.
God Bless him.
You know that commercial where the guy is teaching people how not become their parents? In my dad’s case, that guy is wrong.
Just because some parents were pissed and didn’t fill out and return the Federal Impact Aid form the district missed out on $$$.
What happens if next year they get organized and get the word out ahead of time and make a concerted effort to not turn in these forms. How much money can they lose next year.
I was a military brat growing up and my folks couldn’t vote in local elections so they didn’t really have a say.
Our local HS told the students they’d face consequences if parents didn’t turn in the form. This, in a town where the largest employer is the federal government in various forms. And the school has lost a metric shit-ton of money the last two years.
We need to do something about that “read more” thingy at the bottom of comments.
It’s getting annoying.
Or maybe it is my American privilege showing up.
This! The collapsed text also removes formatting which is kinda annoyingifying

edit3: I’m gonna go away now. I’m my defense, I did just have my first ice-induced PLF against my will. Cracked the spine a bit and may have dislodged a little lysergic acid diethylamide-25.
“Free Space” should be replaced by the words “Ted Kennedy” or “Hunter Biden” or “The Kennedys” or “The Clintons” or “The Bidens”…
Anyone else we missed that either got away with murder or other crimes?
😉😎

Hack Stone cannot claim the “Never Been Racially Profiled” square, as being a white person he is automatically assumed to be racist. Back when Hack was working down on Quantico, he was told by a fellow contractor, a white former Marine Corps Officer, that he had White Privilege because Hack’s parents were married. Hack Stone would like to take this opportunity to apologize that his mother did not have casual intercourse with strangers.
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will
not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
We guess schools do not teach history anymore…How ironic…and sad..
Sounded really good at the time. I still believe in it, practiced it all my life. No, not enough. CRT says I’m an oppressor. Who knew?
Is now “racist,” comrade!
So glad I don’t live in FFX
Aw FFX sake!
My daughter was the only military family member enrolled at her elementary school. I asked for the federal tuition forms (I didn’t know what they were called); the school administrators had never heard of them. In fact, they thought I was asking for the USDA forms for reduced price lunches, I wasn’t. No extra federal funding for that school.
The “free or reduced price school lunch” is educators’ verbal tourette’s tic today.
I was a privileged military brat. I only went to 11 different schools in 12 years. The only good thing about it was you usually had some kid you went to school with 3 years ago in the same school.
Douglas A. Tyson = Clown.
IMHO he’s more fucked up than a barrel of ass-raped roadkill!
Sheer. Fucking. Poetry.
ChipNASA to the courtesy phone please, paging ChipNASA…
I could not help but notice that if you were born in North Korea, stayed there, Got a job and had your own bedroom you are also privileged. In fact any country…. Science…
I would have moved much further up the career ladder if I would’ve stayed in the DC area, but my kids would’ve suffered for it.
Every once in a while, I look at opportunities in the area and start to question my decision. Then I see little stories like these, and I’m like “Nah. No thanks.”
