Cracker Barrel shooting suspect killed by HCSO deputies identified
Nathan Humphrey was shot as deputies tried to arrest him on Monday night, two days after authorities said he shot and killed 59-year-old Robin Baucom.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — The Harris County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Tuesday the identity of the man who was shot and killed Monday night by deputies near Atascocita High School.

RELATED: Suspected shooter in deadly Cracker Barrel shooting shot, killed by deputies, HCSO says.

HCSO said Nathan Humphrey was shot as deputies tried to arrest him. Investigators believe Humphrey, 28, shot and killed a Cracker Barrel manager last weekend.

Deputies said Humphrey was out on bond at the time of the shootings and also had an outstanding felony arrest warrant.

Florida jogger used martial arts to fight off attacker who wanted his body for ‘fantasies’
Logan Smith, 18, charged with attempted murder

Pilar Arias
A Florida teenager is charged with attempted murder after deputies say he came up with a plan to kill a jogger and keep his body in a closet “to fulfill his sexual fantasies.”

Logan Smith, 18, of Cocoa allegedly attacked the jogger Monday, but his plans were thwarted when the victim overpowered him using martial arts. Smith was reportedly detained until deputies arrived at the scene, according to an arrest report obtained by FOX 35 Orlando.

Investigators said Smith had a rubber mallet, an aerosol can of Axe body spray, a belt from a robe and a sheet laid out in the driveway of his residence to assist in his plot.

“The defendant walked directly across his street where he hid behind a light pole. He placed the mallet and the Axe aerosol on the ground next to him while he waited for the [victim] to come running down the street as he did regularly for exercise,” the arrest affidavit states.

Robbery suspect shot after pursuit ends in front of Publix headquarters, authorities say

Tony Marrero, Tampa Bay Times
LAKELAND — A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detective was one of three law enforcement officers who opened fire Wednesday on a robbery suspect who shot at them as they tried to apprehend him in Lakeland, authorities said.

Francisco Cabrera, Jr., 27, was shot after he fired on the deputy, a Lakeland police officer and a federal agent from a car on U.S. 92, Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister said at a news conference at the scene.

Cabrera was taken into custody after he was shot and was undergoing surgery Wednesday afternoon at the Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, Chronister said. He was listed in stable condition.

Cabrera was a suspect in at least three recent armed robberies and two armed carjackings in east Hillsborough, two at a smoke shop and one at a gas station, Chronister said.

Last year Springfield came out with their updated SA-35, now FN with their FN HP.
It would be interesting to have a side by side comparison of these two updated apex of St JMB’s penultimate pistol design, both on the bench and at the range.
Everything else being equal, so far I think I’d buy a Springfield at ~$700 vs a FN at double, ~$1300-$1400.

Yeah, that’s kind of pricey. For that money, I’d rather have a Kimber 1911 Rapide.

BZ to HCSO for taking out the trash. Just think…if some dumbazz judge had of left that murderous trash from hell in jail where he belonged, the lady would still be alive.

Hi Karate trumps Axe! Pervert better take him some body sprays or lotions to his new digs. Bubba and the boys in Cell Block C gonna want him to smell nice.

I really need to get my babies da hell out of Hillsborough Co. Daughter CCs everywhere she goes now.

Moonwalk takedown?

“…all steel frame…” As God and HMS (His Most Saintly) JMB intended!

My NIB Kimber 1911 Custom LW is my pillow and my DD-214 is my blankie. I sleep very well now, Thank You very much.

Hai Karate, I got a bottle of that for Christmas my freshman year. Wasn’t bad stuff for cheap after-shave!

ROFLOL!!

I’m mainly interested in the 17 round capacity. If backwards compatible I could up all my original 13+1 to 17+1 – I’m at 15+1 (MecGar makes 15s now, which is why the SA35 is a bit ho-hum) now and the extra rounds would be nice.

I wanna know what that Florida teen was on, where he got it, and how much it cost him?
Noooo, not for that reason.
I want to laugh at him for the money he wasted, and avoid both the drug and the area where he got it.

Cameron

That Florida teen better be thankful that the jogger he attacked was not carrying a gun. And if that were the case, I hope he is thankful that he ended up in handcuffs rather than a body bag (Not that I care as I have zero sympathy scumbags. I do hope he enjoys his new prison cell and what the inmates will potentially do to him to fulfill their own “fantasies” in there. On the other hand, I am glad to hear that the jogger is okay.).

After all, to quote Eddie Valiant from Who Framed Roger Rabbit when he accuses movie studio owner R. K. Maroon of being a murderer: Everybody’s gotta have a hobby.

Just want to know if that 17 rounder fits and functions in the normal HP. Surplus can be had for $400 each – a few minutes to drop the magazine disconect out, and you can save yourself near a grand. I am an admitted HP fanboy, but even I would think twice about dropping that kind of coin on that new one. Think I would be tempted to go the CZ-75 route and get a Shadow with cash left over, or maybe 2 Omega convertibles – get double action capability, dust cover rails, and 19+1 capacity. Each.

Research into the Springfield SA-35, a new re-make of the Browning HP, MSRP ~$700 (so probably less at your nearby local gun shop)

Good idea!
That would be a good test of three HPs…..an “original”, the new Springfield, and the new Browning.
With interchangeability of parts being one of the tests & comparisons.

Shooting Illustrated reviewed the SA 35 – and I am now coveting it for my EDC

David

Just buy a surplus P35 and some 15 round mags. Everything they did you can do.

David

a little more research says the 17 rounders are not compatible with earlier guns.

What IS that belligerent drunkard’s green t-shirt supposed to be/say? Not familiar with the design, and I can’t zoom in to read it.

You can’t fix stupid.

I am thinking that HCSO was working a surveillance, with the feds, on the mope they shot. Reason being is Lakeland is in POLK COUNTY and we all that Sheriff Grady and his green machine would have done that deed themselves… But, hey, kudos to HCSO for saving PCSO’s ammo supply.
