It’s cold up here in Them There Woodlands!! The geese are no longer hanging out. They got smart and went south. Besides, hunting season is over and done with and everyone passed their training flight tests, so they’re all down South about now.
However, since I have no control over what any of you say (other than reminding you to be polite), this will be an open thread. Might be a good time to wonder how long it will take for more Dems to jump ship and not vote with Biteme’s bunch of stooges. (Oh, that was so not nice of me!)

I wonder how much the False Commander “Phony” Phil Monkress (CEO of All-Points Logistics) and his Phildo Supporters will steal from the American Taxpayer this holiday season as he procures set aside government contracts based upon his highly questionable and potentially felonious Native American, Navy SEAL and Law Enforcement claims?

Word on the streets of Merritt Island Florida is that Hans Gruber and his merry band of miscreants plan to take over the All Points Logistics Christmas Party and threaten to release Phil Monkress’ service records unless they are given a subcontract from FEMA to provide Soylent Green to the victims of the recent tornadoes. Fortunately, there will be one man on the inside who doesn’t intend to let that happen, that person being Jared Stern, with a little help from Thomas “Turd” Bolling Of Ambassador Worldwide Protection Agency lending a hand during the downtime that he is not looking for his misplaced firearm.

The night before this was taken I was tending the fire in the locomotive for the first time in a few years. The fire gets lit on Friday afternoons and a night crew slowly builds the boiler pressure, then keeps the fire going and the boiler full until the road crew arrives in the morning to move the locomotive out to load coal and dump the ash.
I didn’t realize how much I missed working on this great lady. Arthritis permitting, I hope to get up there next year.
Oh, that brings back some real memories! When we were kids, we used to go down to the railroad crossing when we could hear the train’s horn, and wave at the engineers as the locomotive went by. They’d always wave back.
I miss those days. Things were simpler, somehow.
I grew up next to a track in south Houston. The song of the wheels in the middle of the night was like a lullaby to me.
And yes, the engineers always waved back at you, the truck drivers always honked their horns, too.
It’s so much fun to hear and ride Steam Trains, but one look at what it takes to keep a steam engine running tells why they got replaced with diesels, I’d also enjoy getting to ride behind an old Alco or Baldwin diesel as well.

Stay on top of it, GB; read up on it. You don’t want to end up like ol’ Poe, where by the time it’s detected it’s Stage 4 and beyond curing; where then all they can do for you is try to keep you free from pain and alive as long as possible.
The drugs needed to do that are horrendously expensive and the side effects from those drugs suck big time major.
I have no idea of your age, but if you have ever been exposed to Agent Orange, as young Poe was extensively as a groundpounder in the defoliated areas of Vietnam, you can easily qualify for 100% disability from the VA without any argument–it’s a presumed service connected illness.
The best part of that is that it relieves you of the financial burden of paying for all those unbelievably ($11,000 per month for 120 pills for one of them) expensive cancer drugs.
Stay alert and don’t let your urologist procrastinate…
It’s no fun even if caught early. I was diagnosed early in 2017, surgery to get rid of it. PSA’s started creeping up in 2018, 10 weeks of radiation, all is well again. Radiation side effects were negligible, but that fookin Lupron! Get checked on the regular, dickweeds. There are few symptoms, it’s an easy blood test.
If the Grandkids are complaining about how bad things are these days, just let them know that you had to put up with this when yu were a teenager.
