Police shot and killed a suspected armed carjacker Monday morning on Interstate 5 in North Portland after the man drove onto the freeway in the wrong direction while being pursued by police and attempted another carjacking on the busy interstate, officials said.

Dec. 7—A Blue Springs man was fatally shot by a Jackson County deputy in suburban Kansas City on Monday following an armed standoff that involved the agency’s SWAT team, authorities said.
Jackson County deputies were dispatched to a residence near the 28900 block of Southeast Moreland School Road on reports of a man armed with a gun who was firing gunshots into a home. Residents of the home were inside when the gunshots were fired and emergency calls were made.

Both of today’s DRT incidents involved the police taking care of business. I live far enough in the woods, that calling the police would be an exercise in futility. I prefer to think that I might be able to handle my own problems, and only call them to come take a report and to remove the cold, stiff, corpse from my place. In a situation, that I was sure that there were no others, no one getting away, I might do that. But in case say, a getaway driver, were to report the gunshot(s), and sent the police, there would be tons of paperwork to complete, interviews to give to the press, detectives, gun groups, etc. And I ain’t got time for that mess.

The DRT in Portland was so much an event that the Chief of Police and Mayor Teddi “Trust Fund Soi Boi” Wheeler graced the community with his presence at the scene of the action.
