Fox News reports that “Reports: Iran Riot Police Shooting Protesters ‘Like Animals‘”

Twitter users believed to be in Tehran are painting a grim picture there, reporting beatings and gunfire on demonstrators supporting opposition presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi. These reports, obtained by Sky News, could not be independently confirmed by FOX News.

Iran’s supreme leader said Wednesday that the government would not yield to demonstrators who want a disputed presidential election annulled, effectively closing the door to compromise with the opposition.

Here’s a video from YouTube supposedly from today – WARNING: It’s pretty gory which is why it’s below the fold.

This one is less graphic, but just as brutal, also purportedly filmed today;

I’ve read a lot of other blogs who warn that Mousavi and Ahmadinejad are two sides of the same coin, that we shouldn’t support either side – but I think the Iranians are beginning to understand that Ahmadinejad isn’t the reason they’re being slaughtered in the streets. It’s mullahs pulling the strings of the militias and Revolutionary Guards. It’s the mullahs who are trying to cling to their power at this point. If there’s a revolution in Iran it has to be to topple the mullahs.

If nothing else, this unrest will preoccupy them and keep their fingers out of Iraq and Afghanistan for a while.

Ugh, Jonn.
Sigh. Under the banner of virgins, no less. God protect those who seek true democracy, freedom and religion without violence.

Frankly Opinionated
