Five hostages safe after police shoot wanted man in Farmington

Michael Locklear
A family in Farmington is now safe after a wanted man held them hostage for more than six hours Friday morning.

A Salt Lake City Police officer ultimately fired his weapon, killing the gunman — Joseph Manhard, 31 — and ending the standoff at about 9 a.m.

The five family members included a girl and four adults, according to Chief Wayne Hansen of the Farmington Police Department.

“They’re up and down,” Hansen said. “There are a lot of emotions they’re experiencing. I think they’re doing more or less OK.”

The family was apparently targeted randomly. Manhard shot at a window on South Tuscany Grove Circle, then found an open window at another house down the street, police said.

“I think he was trying to get into whatever house he could for whatever reason,” Hansen said. “He displayed very aggressive behavior to law enforcement and for whatever reason wanted to get into a house to ride this out.”

Peeping Tom suspect shot to death outside north Houston home

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man suspected of creeping outside a north Houston home was shot to death Friday by a woman inside, police said.

It happened around 11 p.m. in the 8900 block of Irvington near the Hardy Toll Road.

The woman told police she saw the man looking into her bedroom window. That’s when she got her rifle and opened fire through the wall of the home.

The suspected peeping Tom took off running but collapsed and died near the house.

Investigators said the woman believed she was in danger and opened fire in self-defense.

Good to see that Utah is still using the firing squad method to cull thru the gene pool to drain the dregs of society.

Looks like that Tom won’t be doing any more peeping. High price of admission for that show and he paid a hardy toll for his efforts.

I have a “gun” than can be described like that Sig…”it isn’t huge, but it looks good, is all about the insertion, and it’s a nice touch.”

Speaking of which (with all apologies to our Adorable Deplorables) Ms Thang can insert my “gun” in her britches…Relentlessly AND Fiercely!

Joseph, ma’ Man, ya just had ta find out the Hard way, did’n’ya?
Good on the po-po for takin’ out the trash.
I’m surprised that out of four adults in the household, no one had their own gun to end this hostage situation earlier.
Utah may not be as loud about their gun laws as Texas, but Utah’s just as open and Constitution carry as Texas. That is, for those adult enough to do it.

This is a fascinating incident:

Not just for the way it unfolded but take a close look at the “firearm’. Perhaps a bit of false reporting going on there.
