Weekend Open Thread

| September 3, 2021

The Governor of Illinois cares so much about his health, and that of others, that he is willing to wear a facemask. Putting a facemask on is easy, but not as easy as being wise when it comes to what is on the daily menu. Enjoy your weekend.

FIRST?

Hack Stone

Hack Stone would like to claim First Post for The This Ain’t Hell Weekend Open Thread for Friday September 3, 2021, but he has come to accept the fact that there are those out who will all within their power, legal and otherwise, from making This Ain’t Hell Great Again. May America someday wake up from this deep sleep.

And this being Labor Day Weekend, please took a moment to remember those who cannot find gainful through no fault of their own, other than believing Phil Monkress of All Points Logistics when he said he had their six when they went on the Internet to defend his false claims of being a US Navy SEAL.

Hack Stone

AW1 Ed’s Fundraiser thread for TAH is up. I hit it, others hit it, now you go hit it. Pry those wallets open and support the team.

Yes, you too.

Don’t leave our hosts behind.

ChipNASA

Done. I hit it as hard as I’d imagine IDC SARC has hit other things. Not as hard as I’d have liked. Not as hard as Nancy Pelosi and/or Hillary Clinton in the face with a sledgehammer hard…Not hatefuck AOC hard…..not as hard as I’d push KoB out of trying to butt into the front of the line to get to and bow down before Denise/OAM, who, in a moment of generosity but probably not her wisest, allowed a photo of her absolutely stunning, gorgeous self to be posted in the thread the other day (where I had to use a good bit of self control to not comment therein, as it was neither the time nor, the place but to do so, no, but now, Oh, NOW…. *winkwinkwinkwink*…not nearly as hard as ex-Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who I’d hit as hard as her husband was hit in the head when he had that snowmobile accident, which probably explains their subsequent divorce in 2020…which means she’s SINGLE!!! YEAH!!!!
But I digress…
If you want TAH/VG to continue, throw them some $$$, PLEASE,
The As(s)teroid of Insults®™ depends on US for a home!!!! 😀 😀 😀

KoB

Chippy, you could have two (2) Cat D-9s pushing and the booster rockets from the Space Shuttle (at full throttle up) pulling and you could not budge me from the front of the line to pay hommage and kiss the hand of OAM. Matter of fact you’d probably rather try to sandpaper a wildcat’s butt in a phone booth than to even attempt that.

If Sarah Palin had of run on her own for Prez back in 08, without McStain, I believe she woulda won. The voters are tired of the same ol’, same ol’ career politicians, one reason why Oblowme and Trump both did so well. Some inherwebz goody shots of Sarah. I had #7 as the screen saver thingie on my Company ‘putor till IT came in and did an upgrade…made it go poof. Enjoy!

Our very own KoB posted this breakin story two days ago.

Shots fired…again! Way to put one across their bows, ninja. My shot was more of a sneak attack in their wake. I believe their trailing nixie mighta cause a premature eruption. Or maybe, they are just prignoring us…you know…because of their grief over the once again postponement.

We will be actively supporting Herschel’s run. His AO is just across the river 1 & 1/2 counties over. I was honored to meet him in one of the businesses that I called on there when he was still in HS, again while at UGA, and after he went pro. We provided (and he paid for) the old school big TVRO Dish at his Mama’s house when he went pro so she could watch him on the network backfeeds. The demonrats are already hard at work trying to dig up “dirt” on him for the upcoming election. You know they just hate when anyone tries to leave the “Plantation”.

Sadly I’m concerned that it will no longer matter who and how the voters vote. We now know who counts the votes.

Gonna finish my little chore list FIRST (ht 2 Roh-Dog) thing in the morning, cause this is one of the very few weekends I’ll be able to watch the games on broadcast TV. So many of them are now on cable. I predicted this years ago when the Dish companies were starting to scramble their signals. Eventually Championship games will be Pay per view.

With 28 more days to go before the end of the Fiscal Year, here is an interim report on totals from the Valor Vultures Tote Board:

Space Farce and Puddle Pirates have yet to score, Zoomies trail the Crayon Eaters by three and a half, who in turn trail the Swabbies by two and a half, who in turn trail the Grunts by six and a half.

That is all.////

Hablar del Diablo….

QAnon Shaman pled guilty today.
He’ll remain behind bars until sentencing.

Worse…
Remember his Mommy Martha Chansley speaking on TV,
proclaiming his innocence,
and other blather??

Well, it turns out, THE WHOLE FAMILY IS CUCKOO.
They advised Q Shaman to NOT take a plea deal,
(even after Biden was inaugurated)
because when Trump is soon returned to office as the President,
Trump will then PARDON him.

Frankie Cee

I was “out and about” today, doing my “First of the Month” shopping, having good luck at all the stops, until I was about to turn left off the highway, into my local hardware store. I had to stop to let an oncoming car come by, and I got rear ended by a guy in a Chevy pickup that had his head up his ass. I had a dog in the back of the truck, (secured by my “redneck dog cage”), and he was thrown from the front of the bed to the back of the bed. He and I are alright, but he was sure spooked. My old Ford took a good hit, but I have a really heavy utility bed, and that kept the rest of the truck safe. There is enough damage that it might be totalled. Other driver admitted fault, and his insurance has more benefits than mine so GEICO is running the claim on his policy. You can see a little of the damage in the photo at my blog, using this link:
https://frankieceecanseetheseasi.blogspot.com/2021/09/well-crap.html

Frankie Cee

Final score: I drove my old 1996 Ford F-250 home, and the other guy rode with his wife while his 2013 Silverado went on a wrecker.
Old guys and old trucks didn’t get old because we are weak.

Frankie Cee

Further, to frustrate the gun grabbers; I was armed, concealed, as always, and I didn’t even pull my S&W and start shooting the guy up. Imagine that.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

Nice to see you back Frankie Cee.

Frankie Cee

The engine? Thank God NO! It it is a 351 and that gets bad enough mileage, 10 MPG, 10.5 with a tailwind and downhill.

SFC D

My dad had 77 F150 with a 400. 8 mpg. Didn’t matter if it was loaded, empty, uphill, downhill, headwind or tailwind. Damn thing would pull your house off the foundation. At 8 mpg.

Frankie Cee

I am working my way back to active. I need to get away from FAKEbook, but still want to be online. I am also at MeWe, and at my blog:

Like Jeff said, good to see you again, Frankie.

26Limabeans

Glad you and the dog are ok.

Is it a 460?

Frankie Cee

Your reply went to Jeff, above.

David

Hey, I swapped to a tuned intake, new carb, shorty headers, and new free-flow exhaust… and rocketed up to 14 mpg on the highway. And that’s with 2.73 gears. Imagine if I had something south of 3.50!

37 and I would have been 36 but was at the donation site dropping TAH support sheckles. This Sept 8th is going to be 3 months since my rotator cuff surgery. Just watched a seven man crew remove 60(?) year old asbestosis siding from a house down the street. Done in under four hours thrown in a dumpster and away it went. Life is faster without OSHA, wait and see if anybody noticed.

I’ve *COUGH* heard rumor about some people simply putting vinyl siding over it…

So, most everybody here is familiar with my wonderful and amazing DAV Daughter and some of the things that she has had to deal with while dealing with the VA and Lord knows whatever and wherever the VA and assorted other agencies throughout the seemingly endless bureaucracy infused life she lives while she attempts to deal with something called, CRPS, along with MST and PTSD from the Military Sexual Trauma she experienced. (you have no idea how hard it is to say that)…..
CRPS, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome is known throughout the health care system as the suicide disease as there is no relief from a constant level of pain that runs at 85-90, constantly on a scale of 1-100.
How she handles it I have no clue, but she has taken on this Mt Elbert Challenge after being asked to join with three other Veterans dealing with CRPS on their own to climb Mt Elbert, the highest peak in the state of Colorado.
This Podcast runs a bit over 30 minutes and is self explanatory as my beautiful daughter Shannon trains to get ready for this huge challenge to bring CRPS to the forefront of treatment at the VA and in the civilian health care market.
If you can spare a few bucks for her it would be appreciated.
I, get nothing, I am financing myself and my doggie going to Colorado to support her as she climbs the tallest peak she has ever climber.
CRPS is a killer, plain and simple, a killer. It destroys everything in the sufferer’s life and ends up destroying the life itself as they attempt to live with something that has only been recently listed as a syndrome.
A ton of Veterans have this, my heart goes out to all of them that do. Your struggle is not in vain.

Wow – this is an impressive challenge. Good on Shannon and her teammates for doing this. They are inspiring me today as I face some very minor in comparison challenges in the weeks ahead.

Please pass along my gratitude to Shannon.

Commissioner Wretched

Sorry about the long delay in posting this week’s trivia, but I had to be out of town most of the day and just got home. (Not an acceptable excuse, I know, but it’s the truth, and that’s all I have.) Here you go, friends … enjoy! DID YOU KNOW…? Did a famous American candy maker escape the “Titanic” disaster by canceling his trip? By Commissioner Wretched Is it just me, or is time really racing by? Last year, dragging through all the lockdowns and stuff, it seemed like the days would never end. (Things seem that way when one is stuck inside, wouldn’t you say?) Now, though, we’re almost finished with summer, and autumn is right around the corner, and it seems as if summer just got started. What’s going on? Is time really moving faster, or am I just reacting to it more slowly? (Don’t laugh. I have a birthday coming up this month – my 63rd. My reactions are really getting slow.) Regardless, you didn’t come here to read my gripes, you came here to read trivia. So here it is! Did you know … … dollar values on the board game Monopoly™ have not changed since the game was introduced by Parker Brothers in 1935? If modern values were used on the properties on the board, the most expensive space in the game, Boardwalk – then and now only $400 – would cost a player $6,690 today. (But think of what you’d get for passing “Go”! Half that amount.) … most dreams only last between a few seconds and thirty minutes? (Gee, they seem so long, too.) … kissing helps prevent tooth decay? (I must find a way to research that item some more.) … the world’s tallest mountain gets taller every year? Mt. Everest, on the border of Nepal and Tibet, stands 29,028 feet above sea level, and it grows less than one-fifth of an inch a year. Two tectonic plates – the Indian plate and the Asian plate – are pushing against each other, and that pushing created the Himalaya mountain range. The two… Read more »

All I had to see was that video of the Afghan Army recruits who were attempting to do jumping jacks to confirm my suspicion that they were not trainable. Sure you could teach them how to shoot an AK, but with low IQ’s and the inability to read and write, let alone count past ten, how could anyone expect them to be trained to be part of a modern army. Then we find that they regularly deserted and were high on dope frequently. Finally, couple that with a 7th century mindset, and you have a formula for failure.
