Police: Man shot and killed at Atlanta diner by a security guard after wielding a metal pole

ATLANTA (CBS46)– Atlanta Police responded to a shooting at a diner in downtown Atlanta where one man died, say investigators.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Saturday near North Avenue and Peachtree Street. According to law enforcement, witnesses said the man was belligerent.

“From my understanding, he was trying to get into the restaurant, he advanced in there one time and was rebuffed by security, he came back wielding a metal pole a second time and that’s when he was shot,” said Lt. Daniel Genson, Atlanta Homicide Commander.

Another nut job and a dumbazz removed from the gene pool. We’ll take our DRTs any way we can get them.

Tack driver? No, you could drive in some railroad spikes with that .44!

The .44AMP cartridge is a cut-down .308 case, necked down to take a .429 pistol slug.

Jeff Cooper proposed for the military a PDW/SBR based around a folding-stock 10″ barrel .44 Automag. He called it “Thumper”.

Would that not be -awesome-?

Great story on the Auto Mag. I do remember it from Dirty Harry, but always considered it one of those impractical Hollywood guns. Guess it is only impractical if you don’t have a huge shoulder holster to drop it in!!! 😉
Not sure how available that ammo is though, so it once again becomes impractical. If only someone would make something like that in .45ACP or .44Magnum?!

We had a bit of a mystery down here by the Air Force base in SC last night. Someone got shot leaving a bar!! Some friends dropped him off at the local hospital…unfortunately he did not make it. Fortunately someone at the hospital recognized him and his buddies that dropped him off! I’m sure the sheriff will get to the bottom of it.

As I recall, .44 Automag brass is not difficult to make – it’s parent brass is the same as a .308, .243, 7mm-08, etc. Cut the case to length, clean ip the case mouth, resize one more time, and you’re done. Reloading is like any other ammo, nothing special, and standard .429 bullets are used. Lke a lot of other cartridges, though, best not buy the gun unless you either reload or have deep pockets.

Its parent brass, clean UP the case mouth, apologies, need coffee.

IMI made the right call chambering their Desert Eagle in.44Mag instead of an exotic like .44AMP. Almost the same “thump” of the .50, but ammo is (or was) readily available.

Their .50AE cartridge is a blown-out .44Mag case, so fairly easy to make.

David

Was quite the accomplishment getting a rimmed case to feed well. Most of the earlier guns trying that were .38 Special chambered 1911s and almost all of them were super-picky on ammo. If they ran at all.

Atlanta: Good shootin’ on the Taxpayer Savings Shot. You are a GO at this station, no need for remedial training.
It would be interesting to see the tox blood screen on this deceased twit. How high was he, and on what?

San Antonio: Good shooting, Dad. Hope your daughter is suitably appreciative, and makes better life choices in the future.
As to the ex-bf. DUDE! Get over yourself, she’s just not that into you any more. Oh……wait……
