San Jose Shreds the Constitution.

This should go well. Gun Bunny sends.

San Jose to tax gun owners, will confiscate firearms for noncompliance

Fee for gun ownership in the city has not yet been determined

By Breck Dumas

Gun owners in San Jose, California, will soon face a yearly tax and be required to carry additional insurance after their city council voted unanimously Tuesday evening to impose the new measures.

The forthcoming fee for gun ownership in the city has not yet been determined, but officials said that anyone found to be in noncompliance will have their weapons confiscated.

The city council’s aim is to try to recoup the cost of responding to gun incidents such as shootings and deaths. According to the Pacific Council on Research and Evaluation, gun-related incidents cost the city roughly $63 million every year in the way of paying for police officers, medics and other expenses, The San Francisco Chronicle reported.

So much wrong here- at least they admit its not about saving lives of any hue. Instead of addressing the problem of inner-city crime they’ll just slap a tax on the legal gun owners, and punish those not in compliance by property confiscation. Brilliant.

To paraphrase Andy Jackson, “The City Council has made its decision, now let them enforce it.”

Thanks, Gun Bunny.

I wonder if the tax will be a one price covers all, or X amount of $ per gun?

I’ve got 45 guns in my house…..Thank God I’m still in the Gunshine State!

There might be another tragic boating accident, where I lose all my guns, if this idea came to Florida.

Nothing like a bunch of self serving, virtue signaling dumbazz politicians passing a law most assuredly to be challenged in the Courts and struck down. May take awhile and if it is NOT struck down, then fellas…we’re in deeper sh^t than we thought. Wonder when we gonna hear the great sucking sound of people (read taxpayers) GTFO?

A better approach for them would to be adopt a gunz ordinance like Kennesaw GA. Maybe the sucking sound then would be the criminals leaving town. Multiple linkys out there on the subject, but when you check this one out you may realize why I chose it.

Let’s not forget that the crime rate in Kennessaw GA took a big nosedive after they passed that ordinance!

I’m waiting for an 18 year old to, while taking the Oath of Enlistment when asked to “Support and Defend The Constitution of The United States” reply with “Which Part”?

I live in SJ. So far they don’t have a handle on who has firearms, but it’s just until they obtain documentation from FFLs and those of us who have C&R type 3 licenses!!

Waiting with bated breath.

The Other Whitey

Here’s hoping those FFLs have the fortitude to tell the city to go piss up a rope, though it will likely cost them their business as the resulting case meanders through the 9th Circus (which never met a fascist law it didn’t adore) on its way to SCOTUS.

rgr769

Local law enforcement has access to the State of Commiefornia data base for all firearm sales for the past 25 years, so San Hoser won’t need to get the list of gun owners residing in the city limits from FFL holders. The City cops can get it from the state.

USMC Steve

If they even ask FFL licensees to see their records, it is a Federal Felony. It is illegal for an FFL licensee to show those records to anyone. Even the BATFE has to produce a warrant to examine them except under certain specific circumstances like the annual inspection.

Alas, Cunningham Lake, Calero Reservoir and Almedan Lake Park (just to name a few bodies of water) are close by.

Millions of firearms are lost each year in freak boating accidents. (smile)

Hope things work out for you rgr 1480

So, the folks who don’t commit crimes will pay a tax to cover the costs of the acts of criminals? Those folks who can’t even legally own guns get the costs of their crimes covered by the good citizens . Typical of Commiefornia.

stoutguy

How does this affect illegal/undocumented gun owners? Does it mean if an illegal gun is used in a crime the punishment is only a fine? So many questions with this…

Stacy0311

Otherwise known as the Lawyer Full Employment Ordinance. And here’s how the lawsuits will play out. District court agrees with the city. 9th Circus agrees with the city. Supreme Court bitch slaps the 9th Circus and overturns the law. Meanwhile San Jose seizes a buttload of legal firearms, melts them down and gets sued bigly, collectively and individually.

Meanwhile, no impact on crime.

Sound about right?

UpNorth

Yup, that just about covers the whole thing.

A Proud Infidel®™

So JUST HOW are laws like that going to take guns away from criminals? But at the same time IT DOES make the shit-for-brained politicians feel good about themselves and that’s obviously all that matter!

AW1 Rod

So, who are they going to tax to try to recoup the cost of responding to drug related incidents, such as overdoses and suicides? How about responding to traffic accidents, of which I’m CERTAIN there are far more of than shooting deaths…even in San Jose?

This is bullshit on SO many levels.

And I’d LOVE to be there, the first time they try to confiscate the firearms of anyone who refuses to pay their penalty…..er, tax.

Ex-PH2

This is SOOOO 18th century Redcoat/Crown crap!

Gun owners in SJ should just ignore this, and not do anything stupid like get involved in a domestic violence incident. Keep a low profile, and Mayor Leccaculo will never be any the wiser.

I guess I can just pay as I enter town on my way through, then get my money back as I leave, right?

This must make those residents feel great about all that “license-to-buy-ammo” stuff they filled out, huh?

A Proud Infidel®™️

And I’m a-bettin’ that this won’t do diddly-shit to reduce crime, it’ll only serve to give the shit-for-brained politicians something to pat themselves on the back for!

SFC D

If San Jose feels they have the authority to tax it’s citizens in order to exercise their constitutional rights under the second amendment, would they not also be able to tax the exercise of other constitutional rights? A “press tax” for newspapers? How about a “poll tax” in order to vote? Didn’t we fight a revolution over this type of thing?

Forest Bondurant

They might as well institute their own “Stamp Act”.

That’ll teach the good citizens of SJ who’s the boss.
