Just ignore terrorists, maybe they’ll go away
In case you missed it yesterday, Carlos Bledsoe, or whatever he’s calling himself today, pleaded not guilty yesterday in a Little Rock courtroom. But CNN reports he made a video taped confession to the murder of PVT William Long;
Before the not guilty plea, authorities said Bledsoe waived his Miranda rights after the shooting Monday and gave a video statement indicating that “political and religious” motives were involved.
He “stated that he was a practicing Muslim … that he was mad at the U.S. military because of what they had done to Muslims in the past,” homicide detective Tommy Hudson said in a police report.
Bledsoe told police “he fired several rounds at the soldiers with the intent of killing them,” according to Hudson’s report.
The New York Times reported that Bledsoe said he would have killed more soldiers if there had been more;
“Mr. Muhammad stated that he was mad at the U.S. military because of what they had done to Muslims in the past,” an arrest report filed by the Little Rock police said. “Mr. Muhammad further stated that he would have killed more soldiers if they had been on the parking lot.”
But the strange part is that there has been nothing from the White House, from PVT Thomas’ boss – the President. As if the incident never happened.
Well, on the day before, an Air France flight from Brazil went down. Drudge throws up a link to an article from last week that reported that an Air France flight was threatened by terrorists. Here’s a screen capture of that article in case it disappears;
So I guess our new strategy against terrorism is to just ignore them and they’ll go away. Brilliant. I can’t foresee any problems that might cause, can you?
Added: Blackfive has an interview with PVT William Long’s father and Marine Daris Long from Little Rock’s KATV. It’s pretty hard to watch.

That is a very good catch, Jonn.
I am still concerned about the multiple pressurization failures that were reported. I hope the black boxes can be recovered and this issue put to rest.
It is reminiscent of the Air India flight from Canada and the plans by Al Qaeda to simultaneously bomb a number of aircraft in flight before 9/11.
Hey John:
While I can see your point about the President not talking about the shooting, I think your argument that “not making a statement about Long’s death” = “ignoring terrorists in the hope that they’ll go away” is pretty flimsy. I’m not “in the tank” by any means for the President, but those are two separate things.
Jonn wrote: Oh, you mean flimsy like the DHS report that used Timothy McVeigh as an example of dangerous veterans running around the country with special skills? Flimsy like that? Or different?
I would have expected a statement from the White House by now telling everyone not to rush to judgment or retaliate against Muslims, not to mention a prayer for the families.
I try to cut the President as much slack as possible, but the longer he goes without even mentioning it, the more disappointed I am.
Hey Dave, do like I do and automatically assume PrezBo is going to screw up virtually everything he touches, that way he can’t disappoint you ever again.
Hey John:
RE: “flimsy like the DHS report”….maybe?
So far, this president’s approach to everything is that it’s America’s fault, we’re sorry, and terrorism isn’t real.
I don’t see the conflict with this thought process and remaining silent about the killing of US Soldiers on US Soil.
Maybe while he is in Egypt the president will appologize for PVT Long getting in the way of Islam’s bullets.
I’m tempted to Claymore, but he’s my CIC, and I have to maintain (or fake) a little bit of respect for the guy to keep my soldiers in line.
Maintaining the proper “respect” for the CIC has to be hard, don’t envy you at all, Dave.
As has been said by others, he(obie) would f**k up an iron ball.
I left our Commander in Chief a message at the White House website. Sir, I am a Solider serving my country as was shocked by the attack on our troops in Little Rock. I have heard that you have issued a statement about this vicious murder but have not read it on this site. I would like to suggest that the two soldiers wounded in the attack be awarded the Purple Heart, since it is obvious they wounded in action. By the wording of the regulations, the two men are deserving of the award. I ask that you think about what it would mean to the families of these two soldiers, and the image of support it would show to the rest of the Armed Forces, if you would present this award. Per United States Army regulations, the Purple Heart is awarded in the name of the President of the United States to any member of the Armed Forces of the United States who, while serving under competent authority in any capacity with one of the U.S. Armed Services after April 5, 1917, has been wounded or killed, or who has died after being wounded. Specific examples of services which warrant the Purple Heart any action against an enemy of the United States; any action with an opposing armed force of a foreign country in which the Armed Forces of the United States are or have been engaged; while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United States is not a belligerent party; as a result of an act of any such enemy of opposing armed forces; or as the result of an act of any hostile foreign force. After 28 March 1973, as a result of an international terrorist attack against the United States or a foreign nation friendly to the United States, recognized as such an attack by the Secretary of the Army, or jointly by the Secretaries of the separate armed services concerned if persons from more than one service are wounded in the attack.
