DOD- Masks Mandatory

| February 7, 2021

In a sweeping “One Size Fits None” decree, the Department of Defense mandated all service and civilian members on board military installations to mask up, with a very few exceptions. This will apply to contractors, dependents and retirees as well.

DOD Makes Masks Mandatory on All US Military Installations

By Jennifer-Leigh Oprihory and Brian W. Everstine

The Defense Department on Feb. 4 issued an order requiring all service members and civilians on U.S. military installations—whether indoors or outdoors—to wear a mask to try to limit the spread of COVID-19, with limited exceptions. However, vaccines against the new coronavirus remain voluntary, and a number of military family members have told Blue Star Families they don’t plan on getting a shot.

The new order, which Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III announced in a memorandum to senior Pentagon leaders, combatant commanders, and DOD agencies, rescinds looser guidance from last spring, and means masks have to be on even when outside or socially distanced.

“COVID-19 is one of the deadliest threats our nation has ever faced,” Austin wrote in the memo. “As we have done throughout our history, the military will rise to this challenge. It is imperative that we do all we can to ensure the health and safety of our force, our families, and our communities so we can prevail in this fight.”

The only exceptions are when an individual is in their own home, alone in an office with floor-to-ceiling walls and a closed door, when eating and drinking, when a mask must be lowered for identification, or when needed to reasonably accommodate an individual with a disability.

Case-by-case exceptions are possible, if you can find a sympathetic 0-7. Read the entire article here: Air Force Magazine

What took them so long? This should have been in place a long time ago. 🧐

SFC D

It has been. Just implemented at the base commander level, not the DoD level. You know everything is better when elevated higher up the bureaucratic bullshit pile.

COMPLIANCE IS MANDATORY for all lower class peasants, politicians and those in the upper elite castes are exempt.

Slow Joe

You do have an authoritarian streak…

IT’S TEH COVID!!! YOU WILL COMPLY!!!!!

Lars has a mask that is shaped like an inward facing penis. No wonder he loves wearing it so much.

Mask-o-rama…

Who is that masked man? He’s the Lone tee Ranger,Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba Bop Hi O Silver away.

The Other Whitey

I can think of plenty of threats this nation has faced that are/were much, much deadlier than the Chinese Bat Flu, so Austin immediately loses points for chickenshit hyperbole.

As for mandatory mask-wearing, I can’t speak for the military, but our chief and the governor both issued a “masks at all times, period, no exceptions” directive. It was met with a widespread “Yeah, that’s what *you* think.” There are times when a mask is appropriate or at least reasonable. There are plenty more when it is completely pointless. Take it for what it’s worth, but my training & experience in fire service leadership has taught me that such pointless orders are indicative of crappy leadership.

Just my two cents.

Fyrfighter

Spot on TOW. In addition, issuing order that you KNOW will be ignored like your chief and governor (and Sec Def) have done negatively effects discipline, because it encourages people to ignore stupid rules..

The Other Whitey

Yeah, and our Unit Chief is very much the “smile to your face, shake your hand, piss down your leg, and stab you in the back” type, constantly sending out emails about how we’re his #1 priority, then promptly ratfucking us for petty political/PR gains. I’ve worked for enough captains and chiefs who genuinely put their guys first to know the difference. I could go on for hours about the dirt on that fucker. He’s also convinced that we all believe his bullshit, which is almost funny in a really pathetic kind of way.

Fyrfighter

That sounds exactly like the deputy we had for a couple years (he was former CalFire, as he constantly reminded us).. I’ve worked for a few others through the years as well… all the same Blue Falcon types..

Maskless-phobia may make it into the DSM-IV. My favorite illustration of this mental ailment is the people who drive alone in their cars with a mask on.

A Proud Infidel®™️

IMHO anyone driving alone with a mask on is like a guy going to bed alone wearing a rubber!

rgr769

Well, yeah, cuz a fellow can never tell when a super model looking hooker might sneak into your bedroom and jump your bones, when sound asleep. Best to be prepared, like all good Scouts.

You should see what the folks in Japan have to contend with. Where it says all SOFA personnel, they’re talking active duty, retired, civilian, dependents, contractors, etc. From the Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka book of faces page: https://www.facebook.com/cfayokosuka/posts/10159388355349187 Restrictions that remain in effect: – In support of the Government of Japan’s state of emergency in our area, we will implement a curfew from 2000 to 0500 for all SOFA personnel. Duty personnel and essential workers may still report as scheduled. – CFAY liberty is restricted to the Kanagawa (except Kawasaki and Yokohama, which are both off-limits for non-residents) Prefecture. – Visitor passes for non-essential guests will be discontinued. We will still allow delivery trucks to enter the installation, but we will suspend all overnight house guest and visitor passes until further notice. – All hotels are off-limits for the purpose of liberty. Hotel stays are only authorized if in an approved leave status or on temporary duty. – All SOFA members will only stay in their assigned quarters on-base or their off-base residence. – All dining establishments on the installation will transition to take out, to include the Galley. **Update 5 Feb** Limited indoor dining for on-base MWR and NEX food venues is authorized. – All mass transit is off-limits except for home-to-work transit and mission essential tasks where no other transportation is available. – In-person religious services will be reduced in size and frequency. In some cases, some congregations will only meet every other week. Virtual delivery of the command religious program will continue. – Additional measures will be implemented by Commander, 7th Fleet for afloat Sailors. Check with your command to ensure you are following all directed Health Protection Measures. Gathering size remains no more than 5 people, or two households combined. Yokohama remains off-limits to all except for Yokohama residents; residents are allowed to travel to and from work only; essential activities only within 3km of your residence which now includes dining outdoors. CFAY liberty is restricted to the Kanagawa (except Kawasaki and Yokohama, which are both off-limits for non-residents) Prefecture. A leave chit must be approved… Read more »

Where folks in Japan can go on liberty. “But the whole of Japan is blacked out” you say. Zoom in. That little bit in yellow is where the folks in Yokosuka can go.

That looks fun… then again, the Japanese have always been good at doing what they’re told by the emperor… I’m sure biden is jealous…

OAE CPO USN Ret

Yeah, and there’s starting to be some rumblings from some folks that I know that work there.

Specifically the curfew part. Granted, unless a movie or late dinner is involved, most folks are home by 8pm anyways. But here the boss is telling them where they have to be and when they have to be there, so why are they not getting paid?

The Other Whitey

And the emperors were always good at doing whatever they were told by whichever shogun was calling the shots at any given time, just like Biden.

David

so when out in the field say, at White Sands, and no one in sight you have to wear mask. Got it.

Do these idiots ever even read what they put out?

Stacy0311

At Fort Bliss right now and the answer is: YES. Walking down the road to my POV, no one around, CSM stopped his car and yelled at me. The fun started when he asked “What’s your name soldier?”

Twist

I know that Marines just love it when they are called “soldier”.

Ret_25X

The fact that the new SECDEF thinks “COVID-19 is one of the deadliest threats our nation has ever faced” just proves one thing.

He wasn’t nominated for his brilliant and independent thought.

COVID 19 is not even the most deadly threats in 2020, placing well below heart disease and medical malpractice.

I have an idea, instead of cowering in terror, how about some cold hard assessment of the threat that the CCP poses?

Oh…wait…we can’t do that. Xo Bei Din does not see the CCP as a threat and the Dumbkopfs loves them some gulags.

Old Crow

“COVID 19 is not even the most deadly threats in 2020, placing well below heart disease and medical malpractice.”

THIS^^^^

A bad flu, which is particularly virulent to the elderly and those with easily identifiable co-conditions, but has a 99% survivability rate, IS NOT “…one of the deadliest threats our nation has ever faced…”

Anonymous

Effectivity of the vaccine is lower than the survival rate of the disease. God forbid this was Ebola, the Plague or some such…

rgr769

It looks like Gropey Joe’s handlers are writing the SECDEF’s talking points.

26Limabeans

Does the gas mask go over the covid mask or under?

Tallywhagger

You will take the mask or you will be banished.

11B-Mailclerk

Didn’t take long, at all, to reveal that ass as a political bootlick.

And the rebirth of the SS/Gestapo contines. Will the only future difference be the salute of heil harris?

LesofLRS

I’m very disappointed in the former 2P6, P6 and Dragon6. I’ve lost just about all respect for him. Ashamed he’s living here n the deep state.

More Americans have died from a virus that wasnt released 15 months ago than died in all of WW2. I’d say it is serious enough.

UpNorth

How many of those deaths are attributed to Covid19 after a “thorough review” of death certificates?
If you can answer that, then riddle me this, how does a cause of death get changed, without an autopsy?

Fyrfighter

And if you look at total mortality in the US, it’s been on a slight upward trend for the last decade. Preliminary numbers for 2020 show it right where you’d expect it to fall.. Odd if the ling rot has really killed 400k that wouldn’t have otherwise died from whatever primary ailment they had…

5JC

What’s odd is that it right where you work expect it to be. Between curfews, people wearing masks everywhere, working dramatically less hours, driving less, getting less surgeries and so forth you would expect mortality to plunge.

5JC

The overwhelming majority of dead don’t get an autopsy so I don’t really understand the question.

Not sure you understand how cause of death is determined.

The Other Whitey

We’re being told that hospitals are “overwhelmed,” yet the disaster tents set up at the ERs sat empty, were taken down, and haven’t come back. I work in Fire/EMS in one of the alleged hot zones, yet there’s been no uptick in medical aid incidents or fatalities in the 13-15 months that this bug has been active. For all the hype, the ERs are running pretty normally, none of them going into Bypass status any more than usual.

I personally know dozens of people who’ve had it and gotten over it. I’m pretty sure I had it last February, right before the hysteria got going—had almost all of the symptoms, and it wasn’t a cold or flu—and not only did I bounce right back, I managed to avoid getting anyone else (including my wife and kids) sick despite masks not yet being en vogue. I lost one of my uncles to the Bat Flu this last November, but to be fair, he was pushing 70, obese, diabetic, and suffered heart disease; I loved my uncle dearly, but the common cold could have killed him. My aunt, who’s the same age but in much better shape and overall health, caught it at the same time, stayed on her feet throughout, and was (physically) good to go in a little over a week.

I’m not denying the existence of the disease, but if it were in fact Black Death 2.0 as so many are claiming, I think I would be in a position to notice.

rgr769

Plus, we have all read and heard the reports of motor vehicle deaths, drug OD’s, and suicides being reported as Chicom Flu deaths. Given there is a $39K gov’t payment for every Covid death reported by a hospital or other health care facility. It is not hard to see why the numbers are so high. I imagine they are testing every stiff in the morgue for the virus so they can claim those bonus bucks.

When Unka Sambo starts throwing around money, there is no shortage of people and orgs figuring out how to rake it in. Even European and African crooks have figured out how to profit from the pandemic; it isn’t just the prison inmates here that are collecting those unemployment bucks.

5JC

I’d be fascinated to see some source of this $39k payment for every Covid death reported.

Clue bomb: it isn’t real.

MK75Gunner

Back in March 2020, President Trump signed into law the CARES Act to help address the economic fallout of COVID-19.

The law increased Medicare payment to hospitals by 20% for cases involving COVID-19.

Now of course the “fact checkers” love to play games with their careful parsing of the facts saying things like “The hospitals don’t get extra money” etc., and those numbers quoted above were estimates made by researchers who made those projections based on government payments made to hospitals in previous years for similar respiratory conditions.

5JC

So no to the $39k.

Got it, all you had to say.

Devtun

Yes SecDef Austin, but is Wuhan one of the 4..or 5 deadliest threats to the nation? Just guessing white supremacists are probably pegged at #1.

OWB

Just a thought, General. But ignorance of history and unwillingness to see real threats may be a greater threat than the ChiCom flu.
