Austin Police officer fatally shoots gunman after altercation with off-duty cop

By Justin Reyes
LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) -An Austin Police officer fatally shot a man early Tuesday after a series of events that escalated when another, off-duty police officer opened fire on the man’s car.

According to reports, an off-duty officer told police that he was driving home early Tuesday in his personal vehicle when another driver cut him off.

The off-duty officer said the driver pointed a gun at him, so the officer fired into the vehicle.

Other officers responded and the driver got out of his vehicle and walked around to the passenger side and reached into the vehicle.

‘I’m just so thankful’: 9-year-old Alabama boy pulls little sister to safety during armed carjacking

Carol Robinson
A young Moody boy is being lauded for his bravery after he pulled his sister to safety during an armed carjacking on Thursday.

The ordeal began about 1:30 p.m. when Kristin Walker was putting gas into her vehicle in the area of U.S. 411 and Interstate 20. Her two small children – 9-year-old Ethan and 6-year-old daughter Audrey – were in the back seat. At that point, a man got out of a Chevrolet SUV which had been parked at a pump near the victim and jumped into the driver’s seat of the woman’s vehicle.

Walker could only think of her two babies inside the vehicle. “I actually jumped in on top of him and pulled the keys out of the ignition,’’ Walker told AL.com. “I couldn’t let him leave with them in the car and the only way I could think to stop him was to pull out the keys.”

I’ve had a Beretta Tomcat (.32 ACP) for about twenty years and love it. It’s a brick compared to newer polymer designs like the Kel-Tec P32, but has held up to a lot. Mine even has a custom trigger guard; it was slightly bent when the pistol fell out of my vehicle 19 years ago.

BZ Ethan, way to man up and look of for Baby Sister…AND yo Mama. There but for the Grace of God and the teaching of my Baby Girl some SA go I. My Grands and in that same age spread, albeit some years older now. Notice that this didn’t happen at 0GOD30 hrs of the wee morning, and was not in what one would consider a sketchy area. Be Aware…Be VERY Aware.

Thanks to the Chipster for the video. We talked about this in the comments the other day. That 800 millions some odd of new cartridges doesn’t count all the other bullets bought by folks from hither to yon. I got away from “recreational shooting” some years ago. Wasn’t a “hoarder” of ammo per se, just a conserver. Won’t say I saw this particular situation coming, but thought more along the lines of restrictions on purchases. Until the tragedy of the flooded quicksand bog, leaky boat trip during the hurrinado, a fire arm would be inspected, test fired, zeroed, then cleaned, oiled, and placed in an accessible strategic place. Wasn’t like I was gonna forget how to hit my target.

From the video; “…don’t believe everything you read on the innernet…!” Say What? Who’d thunk? /s/

Cute little Bay-Rhettas. Wonder if you put one of them thar blue bullets in the magazine/chamber if it would swell up to full size? Asking for a friend.

Never fired one of those, but have shot other “pocket” guns from junk to “you paid what?”

.32 seems about ideal for the platform. If I want more thump I want more gun.

If everyone currently unarmed carried one of those little things, crooks would be a somewhat rarer problem.
