Hoyer says airman who died fighting fire was doing what he loved;
reward money increased in connection with arson probe
By Marsha Chwalik
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The reward money leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for an arson fire that killed a member of the West Virginia Air National Guard has been increased to $20,000, according to the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
An anonymous donor contributed $15,000 to the reward money Monday.
Senior Airman Logan Young, 30, of Martinsburg, a firefighter assigned to the 167th Airlift Wing in Martinsburg, was killed while fighting a barn fire on Charles Town Road early Sunday morning. The fire was reported at just before 2 a.m.
Investigators have determined the barn blaze and a house fire set earlier about three miles away in Jefferson County are connected, according to the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
Nobody cares what generation he was. Fair winds and following seas, SrA Young. Read the entire article here: WV Metro News
Thanks, OWB.

All,
We regret to pass on that a 38 year old Firefighter with the 167th Air Lift Wing of the West Virginia Air National Guard Fire Department (Martinsburg) was killed in the Line of Duty. He was killed while operating at the scene of a mutual aid structure fire in Kearneysville, WV around 0200 hours this morning. The area is in the eastern panhandle area of West Virginia, west of Washington D.C.near the Maryland line. Additional reports are that the members were operating at that structure fire and there was a collapse of some kind at around 0230 hours. Several other Firefighters were injured and were transported (some have been released) and others undergoing medical care.
For those unfamiliar, it is very common for the DC region Federal and Military fire departments to operate regularly with area county/municipal fire and rescue services.
This structure fire was one of several in the Kearneysville area this morning and West Virginia Fire Marshals along with mutual aid fire investigators are operating. Our condolences to all those affected and prayers to the family and all others that were injured. More to follow.
Take Care. Be Careful. Pass It On.

RIP bother, we’ll take it from here.
Hopefully they catch the SOB responsible, and give him / her suitable punishment
RIP Senior Airman Young…..
There have been several arson fires in my AO that were lethal to some firefighters. This is not a good sign.
Rest in Peace, Airman Young.
Rest in Peace.
Rest in Peace, Dear Airman.
By God, justice will prevail.
Rest in peace Brother. God be with your family.
A minor correction for future reference. Senior Airman is abbreviated SrA, not SA.
Thanks.
God’s Peace bring His Comfort to this Warrior’s Family and Squad/Squadron Mates.
When they catch the bastard(s) responsible, may I be part of the hanging detail?
Rest in Peace, SrA Logan Young.
