The Left goes insane, of course. Researching the story led to some of the usual suspects’ pontifications, using descriptors like “Trump goes on a rampage with pardons” “…corrupt excess..” “…blindsided aides…” and “…sleazy final days of the Trump White House.” I don’t need to be specific, they’re all pretty much playing from the same talking point handbook. I read the articles so you don’t have to.
All this for exercising a perfectly legal Executive power. Among those receiving Presidential attention are George Papadopoulos, and four military contractors for Blackwater. Also receiving full pardons are Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean.

Donald Trump Pardons Fifteen Americans Including George Papadopoulos

President Donald Trump pardoned fifteen Americans Tuesday night, including his former campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos.
Papadopoulos was charged with one count of making false statements during Special Counsel Robert Muller’s investigation into accusations of the Trump campaign colluding with Russia.
“Notably, Mueller stated in his report that he found no evidence of collusion in connection with Russia’s attempts to interfere in the election,” the statement from the White House read. “Nonetheless, the Special Counsel’s team still charged Mr. Papadopoulos with this process-related crime.”
The president also issued a pardon to Alex van der Zwaan in connection with Mueller’s investigation, as he was also charged with a process-related crime of making false statements.
Trump also pardoned Nicholas Slatten, Paul Slough, Evan Liberty, and Dustin Heard, four military veterans who were serving as military contractors for Blackwater in Iraq who were prosecuted for the deaths of Iraqi civilians. The pardon was supported by Fox News host Pete Hegseth and many other Republicans in Congress.
President Trump also pardoned Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who were charged and convicted of assault after shooting an illegal immigrant whom they believed was armed and resisted arrest. President George W. Bush previously issued commutations for both men during his final days in office, but Trump extended a full pardon.
President Trump also commuted the sentences of five additional people.

I can normally decide whether something is a good thing or not depending on who is against it. If Nancy is fer it, I’m agin’ it. . . usually works pretty well.
That’s one reason I was first attracted to President Trump. Not only did he drive all the libs crazy, but he drove all the RINOs crazy, too. I liked that A LOT. For that reason alone, I was confident (and hopeful) in giving him a chance.
So if these pardons drive the left bananas, I figure they must be right and just. Of course, at this point he could support abortion and they would go nuts just because I don’t think they actually hear the words that come out of his mouth.

President Carter pardoned Oscar Callazo. A man who attempted to assassinate President Truman. .
President Clinton pardoned Marc Rich, Pincus Green,Dan Rostenkowski and Susan Rosenberg.

Every single President in recent history has bestowed pardons for all sorts of questionable reasons. It’s a Presidential authority that is frequently abused by whomever is exiting office.

Politicians pardoning political corruption is an entirely different category then Lopez.
Carter did not pardon Liddy. He comminuted his sentence to eight years and even still he was the last burglar to be released. So the commutation brought his sentence in line with the other burglars.

All the lawsuits have been dismissed before the point of presenting evidence. The SCOTUS really abdicated their responsibilities when they refused to take up the Texas case. Even if the case is BS, they are the sole arbiter of issues between the states. Without a venue for these issues you very easily can lose the republic.

It was a quid pro quo for a pardon and the case was both baseless and Texas had no standing to file it.
Which is why a 6-3 conservative SCOTUS threw it out, it was 120+ pages of incoherent conspiracy without a shred of evidence.
In most of the lawsuits they were specifically asked if they had evidence of systemic fraud and they admitted under oath they had none.
They never were willing to actually allege in court that systemic fraud occurred. Only Giuliani tried, momentarily, and when the judges asked him if that is what he is actually alleging he immediately backtracked because he knew he had no evidence and would be disbarred or censured for the lie.

Actually, per recent Federal court decisions it appears there’s a very good chance it does.
Remember: unless you opted for discharge vice retirement, you are still a member of the US military – specifically, a member of the Federal Reserve Components (the USAR’s Retired Reserve). Whether or not you are drawing a pension at present doesn’t alter that fact.

Folks, However you might not like Commissar’s opinions, he does have the right to express them, even here, subject to the modest restrictions he accepted when Commissioned, and the rules of our hosts. We are born to that right, and he more than re-bought that right big-time when he stuck his hand in the air and oathed/affirmed. We, of course, can express our views of those views. I ping him on -how- he does it, because I expect Officers to accept the leash that comes with all that power and trust. And because those restrictions have “good of the service” and “obedient to the Constitution” and “civilian government” implications. Thus we have them in writing. Personally, I think that his thinking on some topics is off, and that he chose some -really- dysfunctional premises. If he were to stay in some clearly marked “commissioned officer” lanes when expressing himself, I would not be “ratfuck weasel” harsh in my criticism by posting UCMJ quotes to say “reflect on your ways”. Junior enlisted active duty read this site, as do those with rank. Count on it. People still in service, active or reserve, post here.
