PBSO: Man acted in self defense in Wellington shooting

Kristina Webb
WELLINGTON — A Wellington man was acting in self defense when he shot and killed another man during a fight Monday night, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Andrew Hodges, 52, was “the aggressor” when he was fatally shot by Joshua Zero, 21, who was defending himself, PBSO detectives determined.

The shooting happened about 8 p.m. Monday at a single-family, one-story home on Capeside Circle just inside the entrance to Wellington Lakes. The neighborhood is on the west side of Big Blue Trace and north of South Shore Boulevard.

Federal Way man found not guilty in shooting of newspaper delivery man
Jury found McLaughlin acted in self defense.

By Olivia Sullivan
A Federal Way man charged with first-degree assault after shooting a newspaper delivery driver five times was found not guilty.

According to prosecutors, then-30-year-old Daniel Morgan McLaughlin allegedly shot the unarmed victim — 39-year-old Travis Zimmerman — after following him as he delivered newspapers in the Twin Lakes area at approximately 3 a.m. May 25, 2019, in the 31600 block of 37th Ave. SW.

On March 5, 2020, a jury found McLaughlin not guilty.

Musta been some kinda Beef @ Wellington to cause Josh to zero out Andy. (Would that trigger a Monday Recipe or a Thursdays are for Cooking Thread?) Maybe the reporter should head out east and look for more details on a neighborhood that is west of the north by South.

Sister Mary Grace needs her ruler AND her red marking pen for that story. Plus a weeks worth of after school detention for the second one! ?!?DaHell!?! Somebody triggered by the name Zimmerman? Was he throwing the papers on the roof, in the bushes next door, or smack dab in the middle of the sprinklers? Were any skittles hurt in the production of this story? What about the hoodie?

If you can’t get a carriage for your Hand Cannon, I guess a shoulder strap will have to do. “Beastly”? Indeed!

And yes Odie IS a Good Boy! Lubs me some Pittie!

Seems it was a case of who was following who. Mclaughlin claimed Zimmerman was following him. Not sure why he would be driving around a neighborhood at 4:00am unless you are delivering papers though! Seems a little suspect… but then you only have one side of the story to believe.
